I love reading unproduced screenplays, so I might get around to reading Whedon's take out of curiosity. I also still have to take a look at Abrams's crazy Superman script. And if you aren't familiar with the Daniel Waters-penned Catwoman script (a spinoff for the Batman Returns Selina Kyle) check it out because that shit is bonkers and I'm bummed it was never made.

My wife first saw Finn in the demon getup and thought he looked like a jerkoff (which I think is a fair assessment, but it's insanely over so what do I know.) I told her he was actually a really handsome dude that the women went crazy for, so she looked him up and agreed, which made her even more mystified by the demon stuff. It took watching the entrance with someone who's never seen it and doesn't follow wrestling to really see how Wrestlecrap worthy people would find it if their wasn't already an affinity for Finn built in, or you were a kid who would be equally impressed by, say, The Boogeyman or Kevin Thorn.

MARCH 2018 WRESTLING ANIMATED GIF THREAD
(BP) replied to The Natural's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
It's not quite Taker working an entire Elimination Chamber match after almost being burned to death, but it was pretty hardcore to gut out a Brock match with second degree burns. -
Asuka/Charlotte is so much more compelling than Asuka/Alexa it's hard to believe the latter was ever seriously considered.
-
From a wrestling perspective, it looks like it should be a great show. I expect Cena/Taker to be the worst match on the card, and if they're smart enough to pare it down to a bomb throwing sprint then even that could be pretty good.
-
I can't even imagine how grating the reaction to the women going on last would be considering the almost orgasmic delight some people appeared to feel when Sasha/Charlotte in the cell wasn't that good.

Vince knowing Apollo's name well enough to make that decision immediately is surprising to me. I just assumed whenever he saw him he thought, "There goes Flippy Lashley."

Finally saw Coco. Co-signing on the Up-level ugly crying. Narattively, I thought it was better than quite a few Pixar films I've really liked. It is interesting that it shares the same twist as some of their other movies.

FEBRUARY 2018 WRESTLING DISCUSSION.
(BP) replied to The Natural's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
If Cena wasn't otherwise occupied (and not going to be around forever) I'd say Elias would get a strong push to be sacrificed to Big Match John before joining Rusev and Bray in the abandoned toys pile. His ceiling is really based on what show he's on with whom and if there's a window of opportunity he can slide into. -
That's a Sandler/Netflix collaboration I'll at least give a chance. Realistic locations, age appropriate normal looking wives, minor class commentary? All improvements. It's still very sitcomesque stuff dependent on the charm of the actors, but there seems to be more effort than usual.

Ronda, listen to the man's advice and they'll be saying you're a natural. -
I'd book it like Show/Mayweather, except instead of Money's entourage all of the interference is from middle aged men in Little Miss Bliss shirts running into the ring screaming, "I'll save you, milady," and then being wrecked by Show.

Flair Sphagetti: So Good You Throw Your Rolex Right into the Plate. -
Ronda: So, I'm debuting on a Facebook stream? What's that about? Hunter: Are you familiar with sundowning?

Yeah, the sell for Mania is seeing Rousey compete in a wrestling ring. I know they do harebrained stuff all of the time, but they should get their carny card revoked if they give away her first match anywhere else. They could possibly have her be a guest enforcer for the final, but I don't think they're that desperate to sell this concept.

Didn't the Whedon WW screenplay leak around the time the movie came out last year and it was largely deemed terrible?

All of the Braun joke names sound like they could legitimately be the names of Michael Jackson's children.

He actually reminded me of Jim Carrey's Riddler. -
Vince is trying to work the audience by acknowledging that Brock is trying to work him into a new deal, but everyone's seeing through it except for Meltzer(?) I don't get Dave taking any of it seriously unless he's playing ball so he's owed a favor later.

Remember that time Killings failed a test when he was main eventing Survivor Series and they didn't suspend him until after the show, and there were some questioning if he was taking the hit for someone else altogether?

This Owens/Cena match was hurt for me in retrospect by them having the exact same match the next two months in a row. Bryan was always a really good sport about giving the rub to guys that were going to get shredded by the crowd just for not being him.

FEBRUARY 2018 WRESTLING DISCUSSION.

That's okay, I can go on and on about that too. Everything around it is terrible TNA faction stuff, but at its core they got a year out of the program by having Sting act like the heel who was really justified in his actions because he knew Hogan was a piece of shit. Then they turned Hogan and Sting was revealed to be right the entire time and they got a year of build out of it before they had a match. It showed surprising restraint and narrative complexity for TNA booking. It used all of the previous NWO history well, and was in keeping with Hogan's reputation for bleeding companies dry and Sting's history of being pushed too far until he snaps and behaving like a character from whatever the most recent comic book movie he'd seen. -
Me: Hey President Johnson, can you sign my copy of Master of the Senate? It's a book that was written after you died, don't worry about it. It's flattering, you're a complex political genius, yada yada. Did Eartha Kittt really make Ladybird cry? Yes, that is your hog. Oh, while I've got you, did you kill Kennedy, bro? And then I'm out.

FEBRUARY 2018 WRESTLING DISCUSSION.
(BP) replied to The Natural's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
They booked Sting/Hunter, which was no ones idea of a dream match, and there weren't any expectations of it being a technical classic. They had one of the funniest matches ever on a major card, beginning with Sting randomly coming out to an Asian gong/drum/bell/string orchestra and Trips doing a Terminator entrance complete with Arnold (with CGI Termimator Face) introduction. They have a fine match until they reach the final stretch, when DX comes out to interfere on Hunter's behalf and the NWO runs out for the save for Sting. There's a big schmozz, and when it looks like Sting has the upper hand, HBK runs in with a super kick and Hunter brains him with the sledgehammer for the winner. Then afterwards, Sting and Hunter do the respect handshake even though one just attempted to murder the other with a construction tool. DX and NWO are now obstensibly cool with each other. I'm an unapologetic fan of how stupid it is because I laughed my ass off the entire time and it didn't do anything to really hurt either guy or the show (in my opinion.) -
I'm averse to the idea of meeting any celebrity anyway, but the President? Any President? Who could possibly care? You're definitely not the only one.
