  1. I swear I did NOT write or contribute to that article. #possiblybeingtruthful Have I ever mentioned that I might have taught Jeter when he was in high school? Part of my training to be a teacher took place at Kalamazoo Central when Jeets was there.
  2. How about a one-off like Monkey Shines ?
  3. Or second best, for that matter. Detroit's best hitter is a guy that got cut by Houston, for crying out loud. Thanks Houston! Got any more guys you wanna cut loose that will hit .350 with power?
  4. For it to be YET AGAIN, there would have to be a first time. And there hasn't been.
  5. Hell, Denny McLain intentionally gave up a home run to Mickey Mantle in 1968 and nobody cared. And that was a regular season game.
  6. I have never had a problem with Comcast (or Centurylink) internet service in all the various times I've been a subscriber. TV service has been hit and miss. My fun story, however, DOES involve Centurylink. So I'm working from home one day because I had a landscaping crew coming out to prune my arbor vitae privacy shrubs. I decide to take a break and I get up and look out the window as the crew is working and just happen to catch one of the guys CUTTING RIGHT THROUGH THE LINE THAT GOES FROM THE POWER POLE TO MY HOUSE. Fortunately for the worker dude it was NOT a power line but was, rather, my phone line. Only I didn't catch that immediately. I went back to my computer, tried hitting a web site and...nothing (DSL internet). A little more playing, nothing. I connect the dots and realize the guy cut the cable. By this point, probably 10-15 minutes have passed. And still the guy hasn't come inside to talk to me. I go outside and they look at me like they have no idea why I'm out there. I look at the one guy and say "HEY, you just cut my phone line and internet!" And he gives me a look that pretty clearly indicates he was hoping he would not get caught. I yelled at the guy a bit - mainly for not immediately coming in and saying something and also how he was making me unable to work - and then I go back inside. Called up Centurylink and they were out like an hour later fixing the problem.
  7. In my case, because my wife gets up super early for work, she goes to bed really early at night. I'm a night owl so I get 3+ hours every night for games if I want.
  8. I, on the other hand, seem to have lots of friends that think because I have a fancy camera (not even THAT fancy - a Canon T4i), that *I* am a professional photographer. Uh...no.
  9. This. I had to get a crown reshaped last year for exactly this reason.
  10. I've always enjoyed Weird Al. This is probably my favorite of his:
  11. Maybe I'm just noticing it more than before but the last couple months it seems like my Facebook news feed has become polluted with friends posting photos from their professional photo shoots with some photographer and...the photos are bad. Not bad as in the poses are bad or I don't like the composition or whatever. No, not that. See, it seems like once a week, somebody's posting a photo from a professional photographer that's way over-exposed and completely blown out and overly white. I am hardly a pro photographer myself but good grief. And invariably the folks in the photos are really pleased - or at least say they are - with the photos. FWIW, the friends of mine that ARE pro photographers agree with me on this trend. So let ole Tabe give you a tip, you overexposing pro photographers whose work keeps showing up on my news feed: The skin on white people is not supposed to be LITERALLY white. Just sayin'.
  12. Robinette and Kragen definitely didn't get any explanations. It was kind of implied that Robinette was a bit disillusioned with the DA's office but nothing ever really stated. Years later, he came back as a fiery "black lawyer" (instead of "a lawyer who's black", to use the phrasing Ben Stone challenged him with) and so it can be inferred that he left to be an advocate. Kragen just disappeared, which is too bad. Really, really liked his character. Van Buren was great but Kragen was awesome as well. Also, as I binge watch, I'm getting to see/notice even more of the actors who appear as multiple characters. Camryn Manheim, for instance, being a strong defense attorney in one episode and a worthless foster mother in a later one. Spreading them out over several years originally, I wouldn't notice that stuff nearly as much.
  13. Finished the fourth season of Law & Order. So the Ben Stone era is now over. Watching every single episode in a compressed format like that really made me appreciate the Stone character even more than I did before. His quiet, cutting remarks and moral certainty are very appealing for me. Definitely strengthened my preference for Stone over McCoy. I also liked the way Stone went out, first getting upset at Schiff's refusal to prosecute a killer from a race riot and then feeling guilt at a witness being murdered after she testified under great pressure from Stone. Well done. Started the 5th season and it's obvious that the producers decided to make it really clear that McCoy was completely different than Stone and had him go all cowboy in the first episode with him in it (prosecuting a quack doctor selling metabolic treatments for cancer for murder). Interesting that they peg him as having 24 years experience in the DA's office in that first episode, meaning he's up around 40 years when the show ends. That's a reallllly long time to serve as a DA. Anyway, good stuff.
  14. Ha. I'm just not a fan of his style. I get his appeal, it just doesn't work for me. He's hardly terrible, even for me, he's not a favorite either.
  15. Hey... I don't hate Scully. He's a class act just not a fan of his work. Don't hate Jeter either but he ain't the saint we're told either.
  16. Hey...Clemente's over Jackie in my book.
  17. For those who are digital pinball fans but not already aware: Farsight Studios has announced that their next Kickstarter project will be the highly-anticipated pinball table - The Addams Family. Widely considered the #1 table of all-time, this was long thought to be pretty much impossible for licensing reasons but it'll be up on Kickstarter soon.
  18. I gotta be honest - I thought that ad sucked. Who the hell appears in their own tribute thing like that? Ugh. Disclaimer: I've never bought into the sell job of Derek Jeter as Mr. Classy. When he's not faking getting hit by pitches, he's doing behind-the-scenes maneuvering to keep from changing positions (to the detriment of his own team), or he's falling down in his duties as captain (by not looking out for teammates, like A-Rod when he first arrived) and so on.
  19. In the all hoopla for E3, I missed hearing about Axiom Verge. This is a not-even-subtle clone of Metroid - the original NES game - complete with NES-style graphics. For once, this type of aesthetic works for me and the game looks fantastic. IGN posted a clip of the PS4 version:
  20. Because I would hate for Kevin to wait, if you're willing to jump through a few hoops, you can get a PS4 for $340 or less at Target: Target Deal
  21. Interesting. I thought it was pretty not great. I do still have installed though and definitely got my money's worth (it was free) out of it.
  22. Skipping his rookie year (1996), Scott Rolen missed 23% of his team's games which is even more amazing when you consider he played 150 games five times, even getting to 160 once.
