  1. Patterson's book was a huge letdown for me. A really shallow, surface take on his life and career. Im not familiar with hia coauthor, but I wonder if a better writer couldn't have coaxed a better book out of Pat. He's been the number two guy in the biggest wrestling company in the world! One of Vince's most trusted and leaned upon employees. But we get "Working with Vince was always fun. We had a lot of laughs! He hated it when I'd smoke in my office." He talks a lot about his relationship with his partner Louie and the love between them comes through at times in Pat's words. Still he has a bad habit (and he cops to it and jokes about it in the book) of repeating himself. "Louie was a great cook. Everyone loved Louie. (Insert powerful wrestling person) told Louie (insert rude thing) and Louie told him (insert rude return comment)! We all laughed alot!" This exact exchange happens at least five times in the book. There's really not that much insight into how being a gay man in the world of wrestling ( or simply a gay man in the world) in those days affected him either. He brings up how it was tough to stay in the closet, and the struggles with his Dad not accepting it, but beyond that there's not much. Maybe my expectations were too high. As is id advise all but the most diehard Patterson fans to skip it.
  2. No Mercy 2008 stops in the middle of the Jericho/HBK cage match. It's a bummer I had a hankering to watch that match today.
  3. If you can afford the name brand stuff...it's Save a Lot Streamin' Cheese for me!
  4. Guys the spray can cheese isn't Cheeze Whiz. Ok? I hate to be a know it all about Cheeze foods, and the chair struggling to support me hates it too. It's the sacrifice I make for my passion though. So respect it.
  5. I assume we get Corbin vs Crews since Kalisto isn't back and neither has anything to do. Maybe throw the tag teams who aren't in the finals into a multi team match?
  6. I think it was pretty well done actually. I understand people shitting on it though because 1) we're all pretty much over Dolph 2) it's not Bryan coming back, or Joe coming in, or whatever other fantasy booking we came up with. For a realistic follow up I thought they did a good job. Miz has added a little unhinged fire and cut a good promo. Dolph came off as a bit more serious and they played up the coward thing well. By the time they were done I wanted to see Miz and Dolph fight. It was a simple and good pro wrestling build.
  7. "Hunter there's seven words ya can't say in the wrestling ring..."
  8. Be careful out there. Twitter is full of people posting spoiler photos Willy nilly tonight. God speed my friends.
  9. This...seems like a really bad idea. Don't tease something unless you're going to follow through with it. Also if his retirement is such a sore spot it can't be good to make it a constant focus and get his hopes up that it might lead to a comeback.
  10. It seems legit. They show her in ring training and doing moves and she looks like she knows the basics.
  11. I know we are supposed to hate this and view it through 18 layers of ironic detachment but fuck it, i honestly enjoy it. Falls comfortably into the stupid but fun category for me. Also when Mick welled up upon seeing the Hell In a Cell cage at the warehouse I did too. For just a minute I forgot the diva creepiness and the Christmas room and the horrible stand up and just remembered the guy who was my wrestling hero as a teenager.
  12. I always thought atomic drops were better when done by a face. The bad guy having to grab his tailbone and gingerly sell the move is good for a pop.
  13. I actually posted this before any of that started
  14. Hahaha no hard feelings fellow entertainment fan. I understand and accept your point of view. Sometimes I get stressed out thinking about that topic. So I just chill out and listen to the new single "Dangerous" by Alternate Waves. Available now on iTunes. Will that topic ever be resolved? Who knows. Maybe it will get better or maybe, as Jolly Rancher says, it will "Keep On Sucking". Either way I'll just check out the fun, innovative and exciting programming on WWE Network including Swerved, Table For Three and The Stone Cold Podcast (Oh Heck Yeah!).
  15. Wow, someone sounds paranoid. Maybe you need the cool, refreshing taste of a Mountain Dew Kickstarter to take the edge off. As for me I'm going to watch the latest episode of Holy Foley, available on demand now on the award winning WWE Network. I can access the show using my computer, tablet, smart phone, or through a variety of streaming devices. Well goodbye for now fellow members of the DVDVRMB Universe.
  16. It's so cheesy and fake that I found it entertaining. I look forward to the further adventures of Santa Mick, Crazy Eyed Collette, Lovely Noelle, WWE Employee Dewey, and the one at the end of the spectrum and the other one slightly less far along the spectrum. Plus Frank the Clown!
  17. These 4 hour shows, plus the long pre show, it's just too much. By the time Balor/Rollins hit the ring I was done. Long, long show full of tedious matches built the same way. Too many finisher kickouts. Something has to change. I think I liked the women's match best. Despite the dangerous and sloppy spots it was a compelling match. Opening tag was really good too.
  18. This show was good. I think maybe my expectations were so high it hurt it a bit for me. Tag titles were great. Women's title was good. Main event was solid but left me a little flat. Something just didn't flow right or click between those two (though Joe's jaw will click forevermore). Ember Moon was cool. Roode is great with the character stuff but match wise he feels out of place. His entrance was glorious indeed. Jose/Aries was nice. Not much of an Aries guy but liked him here. He and Itami could produce some good stuff.
  19. To beat the anthem dead horse a bit more... A few years back I was at a hockey game. The elderly gentleman next to me struck up a conversation during which he said "I hope people are respectful and sing the anthem." I assumed he was wondering if they would play the anthem before the game and I assured him they would. "No I know they'll play it I just hope these assholes are respectful and sing it." "Umm...you mean...like...us? The crowd?" "Yes you're supposed to sing the anthem to show proper respect." So the anthem starts up and he belts it out at the top of his lungs while scowling at everyone around him (including me) that wasn't singing along. He didn't say anything else to me for the duration of the game but I did hear him tell the other guy who was there with him "None of these assholes sang it."
  20. Didn't feel like lugging two bathtubs into a field.
  21. Yes and we've all come to accept that as a standard wrestling trope. The lock deal was over the top for me and took me out of the match a bit. Maybe because ive never really seen it done before? Anyhow I didnt care for it at all and hope Gallagher leaves it behind once he is signed.
