  1. i like Meisha so picked her in our real life pool (i'm ahead by enough points to have fun) but picked Rousey in the DVDVR pool (i'm not a fool). how did Brandao look for being over weight? drained, or just unable to make the cut?
  2. to all the Wii-U peeps out there: there's a game called NES Remix is available for download on the Wii-U eShop. $14.99. if you're a regular Nintendo enthusiast like i am, this may be the greatest game ever made.

  4. the wife got me a bottle of booze and a wii luigi controller. bless her heart, she knows me so well. the in-laws got me a couple giftcards for home improvements. we also got a couple of obscure vinyl records from local bands from the late 70s/early 80s, as well as the digital conversion of said albums. it's really awesome.
  5. seeing that right after the Hush discussion and Jim Lee's art, my immediate thought was "i sure don't remember an ugly cover like that" only then to see that it's the upcoming anniversary issue. yikes. maybe a throwback to TEC #27 from 1939 would be too obvious, but good lord. there had to have been something (ANYTHING) better than that mess. edit: just saw that this is only a variant. well, no harm done then.
  6. what's the general consensus on Madusa? i've only seen her US stuff, but loved her WWF run in '94-95. Felt she was completely underused during her '96-97 WCW run (the women popped up once every 3 months for a match or two then disappeared altogether again). maybe it was just the other girls they brought in to wrestle with her, but i always felt her matches added to the program. thoughts?
  7. as a fan of the big "events", i didn't mind Identity Crisis as much as everybody else. i'm not gonna defend it or anything, but i didn't think it was terrible. Final Crisis i didn't enjoy upon first read (which was just the main series). When i sat down and read it and all the tie-ins, i felt that it was awesome. All-Star Superman is the correct answer here. Other good options: Blackest Night was fun, LXG is a good call out, and Swamp Thing was a great read for me (who had never read a Swamp Thing comic before). Long Halloween is very good too.
  8. 32 WWE, with 8-10 each of TNA, Japan, and Mexico. fill in the rest with US Indy guys. i usually check out guys i haven't seen in the first round. Well, really only if a couple guys are backing them pretty hard. Anyway, i say give it a shot.
  9. all of that Paparazzi Championship Series was freaking fantastic. I have a recurring problem with making sure things are "Bob Backlund approved" because of them.
  10. does it really make any difference? a draw vs a no contest i mean? Bigfoot's record is now officially 18-5-1. before this changed, it was 18-5-1. Hunt was 9-8-1 and is now 9-8-1. just saying, who cares?
  11. at this point, i'm just hoping Dick Grayson makes it out alive. As long as that happens, Forever Evil will be OK in my book.
  12. just found out that King's Watch (from dynamite) is a Defenders of the Earth miniseries. picked up issue #3 this week and ordered 1 & 2. can't wait to get caught up on this. as an added bonus, it's written by Jeff Parker, who is KILLING it with Batman '66.
  13. Its not like he should have won the fight it makes the difference between a loss and a draw. He CLEARLY earned that 10-8 round, even if he was totally outclassed the next 2. basically, if that round isn't a 10-8, then what does it take to get one? Or god forbid a 10-7?
  14. how the hell did only one judge give Castillo a 10-8 for rd 1? if that's not a clear example then i don't know what is
  15. for a story that started with the Joker carving off his own face and then leaving Gotham City in suspense for a year over what he was planning, i think the ending of "the Joker just wants Batman back" is a bit anti-climactic. There were literally NO repercussions from the storyline. Damian is dead (different storyline); Tim wasn't connected to Batman before DOTF, so his disappearance doesn't mean anything; Nightwing has still been present in Batbooks; Batgirl removing her bat symbol had nothing to do with this storyline. Hell, even Alfred seems to have no aftereffects. And Bruce sure as hell doesn't. They constantly teased us with mutilations and deaths, and what we got was.....well, nothing really. Joker doesn't want to know Batman's identity. got it. Bruce continues to keep secrets from the Batfam. got it. everybody got captured and Bruce had to save the day. got it. it's all par for the course. i think after Court of Owls had this big reveal of Lincoln March, plus the return of the Joker, plus all the hype, people (myself included) just felt it didn't live up to any of it. Thus, anti-climactic.
  16. wow, lots of little guys on this card. this is only the 2nd time (AFAIK) that WelterWeight is the heaviest division on display. the other was some TUF finale event. not that that's a bad thing, this looks like a great card. just pointing it out.
  17. Talon doesn't really have very good sales, so a cancellation wouldn't surprise me. as far as Snyder goes, i dig a lot of his stuff. Black Mirror being the peak, but Gates of Gotham and Court of Owls were both really great too. Death of the Family was good throughout, but the ending just didn't do much for me. felt very anti-climactic. haven't even started on Zero Year, waiting for all the issues to be out before i start reading. i am not joking when i say that my favorite DC book is "Batman '66". it is pitch perfect, clever, and legitimately fun.
  18. i'm interested to see what all random little events that the UFC owns the rights too. EliteXC? Battlecade? Affliction? i hope so on all accounts because there's some gems in there
  19. i haven't played a Pokemon game since Gold. sell me on X and/or Y.
  20. i gave it to Bigfoot 48-47 (rds 1, 2, 4) but still think a draw is the best score it could get. if Hendo/Shogun would've been a draw it would've been ok for everyone too.
  21. batman forever remains my personal favorite batman movie ever. followed by TDK. on the opposite end of the spectrum, batman&robin is the most vile batshit ever. DKR would be second worst. fuck it. list time. my favorite batmovies. not best, just favorite: Batman Forever The Dark Knight Batman (1966) Batman Begins Batman (1989) Batman Returns Dark Knight Rises Batman & Robin
  22. loved Gene's bit of WCW doing something that will make "the competition" finally crumble. But it won't be on TV. what?
