  1. is Khabib's six UFC wins in a row without a title shot a record? edit: damn, not really even that close. 8 wins: Jon Fitch, Gray Maynard 7 wins: Chuck Liddell, Jim Miller, George Sotiropoulos, Matt Brown, Rafael Assuncao
  2. whoa, there's some sweet designs on that site. really digging the Pac-Man poster, but being only 9"x24" is a bummer.
  3. having finished the first Dr. Fu-Manchu novel, i was debating about jumping into the next novel. Instead, i downloaded a complete Sherlock Holmes book, so i guess i'll be reading that over the next few months. have never read any Holmes and interested to do so.
  4. finished the book. i really enjoyed it. very interested in reading the first sequel ("Return of...") but think i'm gonna try out some other stuff first.
  5. Elizabeth needs to go in this year, or she's most likely not making it in at all. i am 1000% behind a Macho/Liz joint induction also, just because their careers are so intertwined and they're both dead now. that sounds very morbid as i type it. otherwise, i think the biggest likeliest names would be Nash and Vader. i'd like to see a Japanese entrant. i agree that Muta should be an obvious choice. Jushin Liger could also fill this slot. if the Dudley Boyz didn't re-sign with TNA, i could see them being the tag team inductee. Demolition (previously mentioned) also makes a lot of sense. edit: celebrity wing: Tiny Lister / Zeus. i know this isn't very likely, but he was Macho's tag partner for a couple matches, so why not? when i was a kid i knew he was a scary mofo and there was no way Hogan would beat him. i can't think of anybody else right off the bat.
  6. the DDP booking has to be the best example of how they screwed the whole angle up. DDP was one of the most over guys around in '97-'98 and stayed over thru the end of WCW. so what does WWF do? make him a stalker that gets beat down by Undertaker and his wife. i mean, really, "People's Champ" vs "People's Champ" writes itself. Diamond Cutter vs Stone Cold Stunner would be money. Page could pull good matches out of just about anybody. but when you just have him take a beating every show, people aren't going to care. duh. and Booker T being a Rocky ripoff didn't do anybody any good either. on this note, i'd be curious at seeing who (if anybody) the Alliance era elevated. is the only answer here RVD? god, that's depressing.
  7. so i watched three fairly recent movies in as many days. Here's what i thought: the Wolf of Wall Street- this movie was a fun enough watch, but at 3 hours i needed more of a plot. While i agree with the masses that DiCaprio deserves an Oscar, this was not the film to attain it. I wish they would've explored some moments and struggles with any sort of depth, because everything felt very shallow. Leo's is the only character delved into whatsoever, and that was only in brief moments. 5.5/10. the Equalizer- this Taken inspired movie will be performed by Denzel Washington. This film was pretty decent at times and mediocre at others. What was with Denzel's OCD? after the action starts, it's never mentioned again. Everything that happens in the Home Mart towards the end reminded me of Home Alone. setting traps and etc. While sometimes it made sense, many times i wondered why Denzel didn't just use a gun? He clearly had no aversion to killing. The end scenes with I did get sucked in once the action really got going tho. 6.5/10. the Expendables 3- easily the weak point of the trilogy. I felt the first was really good and the second was fantastic. All the stuff with the new recruits felt stupid and pointless. Ronda Rousey is a terrible actress. Schwarz looked old as shit in this. All that said, the action was top notch. the addition of Wesley Snipes was awesome. Once the original team got back together to save the day is when i felt the movie finally started to be good. Jet Li's short appearance was good to see. i was afraid he'd been left out. Overall, it was enjoyable. 7/10.
  8. shit writing is shit writing regardless of rating anyway.
  9. wow, i would've sworn that fight happened before, or was at least GOING TO happen, but i just looked it up. guess not.
  10. i liked the "marvel would want creative control, but we have a plan" idea. clearly, after two series of Spidey films, Sony has more options. that once again begin in high school. fantastic!
  11. a rather random question, but does anyone know if video of the Tito Ortiz vs Eugene Jackson fight has ever turned up anywhere? i saw clips of it on some Shamrock vs Gracie unauthorized video, so i know that it was recorded, but have never heard from anyone on whether or not it exists in the wild. any ideas?
  12. came in to post the WCC match. thanks for beating me to it jerk! also just watched him get demolished by Goldberg on this week's Nitro, which is the first Goldie/Flynn meeting. he ups Goldberg's record to 17-0.
  13. yeah, Maven's character forever being "hey it's that guy from Tough Enough" both made and killed his career in WWE. As i type this, i can't think of his finishing move. the only angle i remember is him eliminating Taker from the Rumble one year (and then getting destroyed because of it).
  14. i'm with these guys. i've seen dozens of Benoit matches since the murders/suicide. i enjoy them for what they are. clearly Benoit turned a corner late in his life, but his pro wrestling matches are aces and i will enjoy them regardless of all the shit that went down. that being said, watching Sullivan/Benoit fight over Woman was rather uncomfortable when i watched that a year or so ago.
  15. i asked this a few years ago and got attacked for it. my larger question involved sales #s for Archie books, but i don't know a single person that actually follows Archie, or has read an Archie comic, or anything. i picked up a couple a few years back due to them having a few modern appearances of the Red Circle folk, but even my friends that enjoy comics were all "why the hell did you pick up Archie?"
  16. i've been refusing to order online (mainly because i'm super cheap). i will obsessively check stores in town, tho, until i find the ones i want. still no Captain Falcon/Pit yet tho.....
  17. Thats interesting as i thought conde nast had a tight control of the character, one reason Marvel did some obfuscation with shang chi and his father in recent years. There were a series of double novels published last deacde i got that are now OOP i believe. i believe that it's one of those situations where the book is PD but the character itself is still privately owned.
  18. i don't know if this counts as horror or not, but i just started reading "the Insidious Dr. Fu-Manchu", which is the first appearance of this famous character. i had no idea he started in a series of novels. makes sense, and just sounded like an interesting thing to read. i'm maybe a quarter of the way in, and i gotta say i'm enjoying it. it was free digitally on Amazon, BTW, since it's public domain.
  19. Trolololololol! This is in the WCW OMG Moments DVD as well, absolutely hysterical. Especially if you're listening to Kevin Sullivan's MLW podcast where he goes through WCW bookings week-by-week and explains how Hogan was.Hogan's creative control gave Savage the WCW title because Randy had split with Liz and The Hulkster "gave" him the title to bury any heat between him and Randy. Hogan's creative control created The Renegade who Hogan wanted to be called Warrior (until TBS legal killed it). Hogan's creative control allowed Flair and Savage to get the title but never to be shown as strong champions because Hogan would eventually reclaim his belt... whenever he got back from filming a movie. I've fallen behind the past month due to the holidays and stuff but I always got a kick out of Sullivan describing the lengths of Hulk's paranoia manifested through his creative control use. He's stated that no heels could lose during his absence when filming one of his classic movies because they'd lose any heat they had for when it came time for Hulkster to beat them on his return. Scott Norton's unbelievable power, arm size, and arm wrestling history couldn't be played up too much, brother, because we all know who has the 24" pythons. It sounds like the entire card was either directly or indirectly influenced by that fragile ego of Hulk's. all things considered, it's pretty amazing that WCW was as good as it was from '96-'97. all that considered, it's
  20. man, that spinning back fist was awesome. thought it was an elbow at first, but the replay showed otherwise. that's really the only really good thing i can say about this event. well, that, and that i'm already ahead in my UFC 2015 pool. but only by a point. Jones/Cormier started out good, but after rd 3 dropped off BAD. Cerrone dismantled Jury. Marquardt clearly didn't come to fight. Lombard could've destroyed Burkman at any point but apparently chose not to. Brimage eating it in the last 10 seconds was an awesome ending to that match. Joe Rogan shitting all over Omar Akhmedov's performance even through a win was terrible. the chick in the pink made the other girl look like she didn't even know what a punch was. are we sure this wasn't a regional amateur bout?
  21. wow, that is definitely huge news for Fight Pass. does anyone know if the UFC owns the "Battlecade: Extreme Fighting" library? they held 4 events in the late 90s then disappeared, with much of their talent going immediately to the UFC, but i've never seen it discussed anywhere. those are some of my favorite "no rules" era events.
  22. now THERE's a man with personality. no brains, tho.
  23. i am interested in seeing Jones face the winner of Gus/Rumble. i am not interested in seeing Cormier fight because, for the most part, he's not very interesting. the Jones "feud" seems to give him a personality when before he didn't have any.
