  1. Really dug D.Grayman when I watched it several years ago, but the snail's pace was definitely annoying. I think there was an entire season that was more or less filler. I've always held out hope that it might continue and finish up eventually.
  2. That disappoints me. Reading the character in the comics, Cooper just doesn't feel right, a bit too pretty. Didn't need a Statham esque voice per say, but still something a little rougher than Cooper voice.
  3. Finished up Trinity War with JL/JLD #23 and Pandora #3. Honestly this reminded me a lot of Johns' Rise of the Third Army crossover from last year. It was far from anything bad, but there wasn't much happening until the last issue or two. It really did serve as nothing more than a build to Forever Evil with the final issue ending on cliffhanger that should be picked up on next month in the Forever Evil mini. I did like the last issue complaints aside. The big stuff happening was cool and I thought Johns managed to work in a good surprise or two. Batman/Superman #3 was good. I really like the interactions between the reality/time displace Batmen and Supermen. I also like how it builds into the stuff with Darkseid. That said, depending on how this arc ends it does raise some arguably minor problems with continuity. I'm really digging the Psi-War story in Superman #23. I like the idea of Clark truly being at a disadvantage against psychics, and the way the story has been building things including tying things back into the first Braniac story in Action Comics has been pretty nifty. It was odd that Lobdell seemingly didn't write this one, but Mike Johnson did a good job picking things up and moving forward. It reminds me that I really do wish DC would partner Lobdell with a normal writer to do the actual scripting while he plots. He is a good idea man, but his actual writing can go either way.
  4. I felt Daredevil's crossover issue in Mutant Massacre felt out of place though. I've heard about the basic premise of Acts of Vengeance but never anything more like the actual quality of the story. Magneto confronting Red Skull makes it seem worth checking out alone. Been catching up with comics released from the past two weeks. Dug Uncanny X-men #11. The latest sentinel looks cool, and I liked how the fight against it played out. The Apocalypse Twins story in Uncanny Avengers #11 continues to be pretty damn good with some interesting directions being taken. Its impressive the scale Remender manages to write on with it despite the series being so self-contained. UA and Thor make me hope the rumors of next year's big event being spearheaded by Remender and Aaron are true. Speaking of Thor, I loved Thor #12. It was nice and calming after such a massive story in Gorr/Godbomb. What I really loved though was how Aaron painted Thor's relationship with humanity. It was great seeing him talk and connect with so many people from different ways of life. Not sure about the direction he went with Jane Foster though I did like how it generally played out. Wolverine and the X-men #35 saw the end of the Hellfire Saga. I thought it was a good conclusion and great climax to much of what Aaron had been building over the past 30+ issues. Not entirely sure about where he is planning to take though the epilogue building to Amazing X-men was cool.
  5. I thought Live Free or Die Hard was far more fun than A Good Day to Die Hard.
  6. Why are you asking that here instead of the action cartoons thread (ie DC and Marvel animated series and movies)? W&tX is probably better than the 90s series though you may dislike the changes they made and it is a bit short lived at one season. Spectacular Spider-man is generally beloved. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes has a fantastic first season. The second season remains quite good for the first half and falls in quality afterword due to Loeb and Man of Action taking control. Ultimate Spider-man is generally hated though I think its ok, just not for adults. Avengers Assemble is the other Avengers series you're thinking of. Its perfectly fine though nothing special. Hulk: Agents of SMASH plays a similar not to serious style like AA and USM. That said its a bit easier to enjoy since Paul Dini is the one writing.
  7. Might have to check out Evolutionary War then. Were any of the other company wide crossovers from then worth checking out? I tend to only hear about the Infinity Gauntlet which I liked well enough.
  8. I thought Heyman/Punk segment wasn't too bad, but it went a little long and Heyman is definitely going overboard with talking about how much he loves CM Punk. AJ's promo was good though I have no idea what direction they were trying to go with her in it. She pretty much blasted show which would only get her cheers while also talking up how they should all be thanking her which was pretty heelish. If they wanted her to still be heel, they really should have thought more about what she was going to say. I like how Big Show's iron clad contract has suddenly been forgotten.
  9. Anyone have any opinions on Marvels crossover events from the 80's and 90's. Specifically I'm talking about stories like Evolutionary War and Operation: Galactic Storm.
  10. You should check out Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest as well. Both are good stories that build up to the second volume of Guardians of the Galaxy.
  11. You try Batwoman, Wonder Woman. Animal Man, etc. there a plenty of better books in the New 52 worth checking out.
  12. I enjoy the show I just haven't found any of the episodes to more than solid yet. They have had moments of goodness, but I can't say I would say any of the episodes have been legit completely good.
  13. I would think being a student of Snyder's gives her some small, small protection. Not mention it wasn't like she insulted the company, just disagreed with the decision about showing off the redesign..
  14. Azzarello and Williams/Blackman having seemingly been given a decent amount of freedom to tell the stories they want. I would actually argue Lobdell may be getting too much freedom. The biggest problems to me really seem to be editorial with lower level books, the Superman line, the young justice line, and the Edge line. They seem to either not know enough about what they want or are backseat writing. This crap pretty much killed the young justice line. As far as Bennett's Lobo story for villains month goes I'm choosing to wait and see. I liked her Batman Annual, but she is still too new for me to just read outright unless its on a series I'm already following.
  15. I don't recall much bitching about Whedon. i wasn't looking at the movie part of the board at the time, but I recall the general response on the internet to Downy being ok, just jokes about method acting for the Demon in the Bottle story due to Downey's past problems with drugs.
  16. It was interesting how it left things open and was a generally good episode. Despite it being a solid-good series overall I'm not sure if I will miss it much though as I never felt they reached their full potential because they tried to keeps things so small.
  17. I expected them to go in that direction the way the season was built and with everything that has happened t Michael over the last few years since his burn notice. Not sure I like it though I understand it.
  18. I feel sorry for her and Oliver. The design was obviously Rocafort's, who has seemingly been in charge of a lot of the recent redesigns, and the story isn't even out yet so who knows if its crap.
  19. The older version of the new Lobo isn't so bad, but I still prefer the one on the cover for villains month by a good deal.
  20. I think its amusing you ever thought the show was good.
  21. Up to #39 of the original Guardians of the Galaxy series. Hadn't realized Valentino left the book after #26. I liked that Valentino tried to go out on something big using Surfer, Firelord, & Galactus, but the actual story didn't do much for me. It just felt convoluted. The annual creating the Galactic Guardians didn't do much for me either. I'm not really sure why the need for a different name either as all members were already pretty much members of GotG active or otherwise. The team actually feels a bit overpowered with two massive cosmic powers (Phoenix and Firelord), a large supernatural power (Ghost Rider), and Hollywood Wonder Man. I actually ended up enjoying the Gallagher issues more. The return to the past led to some decent stories. I liked Stakar's story finishing up with Aleta being freed up again. The Bubonicus story did little for me, but I enjoyed the battle against Dormammu and the consequences that came from it. Also dug Yellowjacket joining the team. She fit right in, and I already am digging the friendship she and Nikki are forming. The finish to Doom's takeover of Earth and Rancor also wasn't too bad though I do have to admit it doesn't feel like Gallagher knows how to properly write Doom in a fight the way he had Doom taking on Rancor hand to hand. Doom is a genius, has tons of tech, is sorcerer and he is going to lower himself to fight a beast like Rancor hand to hand? Uhm...no. Actually I'm really annoyed Rancor is still alive up to this point. She doesn't really have depth and isn't not terribly bright. I fine with her in a story up to this point, but its sort of ridiculous that the Guardians would save her from Doom considering how dangerous they considered her. Its not like they are against killing. Anyways despite my complaints I'm still enjoying the series and am looking forward to seeing the rest of what Gallagher brought to the table.
  22. The stuff up to Savage Six is pretty good. Haven't read anything else yet. This is disappointing news, but not surprising. Really wish Flash was in another book not named Thunderbolts. I would have preferred him in Avengers to Spider-man if I'm being honest.
  23. Affleck as Batman just feel wrong. I don't dislike him as an actor or a director. I just don't want him as Batman.
