  1. Kinda hoping Austin Aries is the mystery opponent for the same reason.
  2. Just watched the spot on YouTube and Truth barely clears the edge of the ring, Waller’s practically next to the ring and Truth still comes up short, I’m not entirely sure he cleared the top rope cleanly. It looks like he might have clipped the rope. If he did clear it, it was close. Not sure what actually happened, but it doesn’t look like Waller’s fault to me. Truth’s landing doesn’t look that bad and he doesn’t land on his knee, but he immediately rolls over and grabs it, so it looks to me like he’s either selling or he hurt the knee before the leap. He did a jumping split right before the spot and sorta reached down and brushed the knee as he popped up, but I’m not sure that means anything. He could be reaching for the knee or it could be an incidental movement.
  3. It sounds like Masielo and his agent were being very brazen about wanting to attract interest from a bigger school and Manhattan got irritated. I really can’t blame a school for expecting their coach to at least be subtle about campaigning for a better job while he is still under contract. I’m not sure firing your coach this close to the start of the season leaves you any better off, but I’m not convinced if leaves you any worse off if the coach isn’t going to sign an extension and isn’t focused on actually coaching,
  4. As odd as it sounds, I think they’ll make Paul look strong in defeat. They’re paying him a good bit and he’s supposedly very popular in Saudi Arabia.
  5. I feel like Deion is a bad fit for most D1 programs,
  6. Without two Super Bowl wins, Eli would be in my Hall of Very Good alongside Matt Ryan, but qb’ing the Giants to two SB wins over the Patriots makes him hard to leave out.
  7. After reading this, I had the urge to double-check which decade I had woken up in. Thought maybe the clocks reset to 2004 while I was sleeeping.
  8. TCU is going to hsve to play a lot better defense if they hope to run the table and have a shot at the playoff. Score was 28-21 at halftime and both teams had multiple plays for big gains (iirc, there were at least four plays of 50+ yards in first half). 2nd half was better but they gave up 31 pts and 450 yards to a bad WVU team, and Wvu had the ball down 3 with 4 min left, so the game could easily turned out differently.
  9. It was Jey that challenged Roman when Roman first turned heel, right? That was an intriguing angle. Jey challenged Roman for control of the family, lost, and was forced to turn heel as Roman’s flunky. For a couple weeks, Jey did this thing where he was conflicted and seemed ready to snap over having to be a heel, and it just made him more vicious. He seemed really over during that period. I still think Sami comes out of this as the super babyface, but strapping a rocket to Jey wouldn’t be a bad way to go. Jimmy was really fascinated by the mat during that segment, lol.
  10. Been on a Wildstorm kick lately. Should have read more of it at the time. Lately, I’ve read Ellis & Millar Authority, Ex Machina, Planetary, Brubaker Authority, Top 10, Wildcats 3.0 and seven or eight other good books. A god Somewhere and Steampunk trades are in the mail. Going to buy Moore’s Wildcats trades today. Have about 3/4 of Astro City so will read that after I pick up last couple trades. Highly recommend Wildstorm. It’s the ECW of comics. There’s a lot that’s skippable (early Lee/Choi) but the good stuff is so, so good. Planetary and Ex Machina are both in my top 20 series ever. eh, on second thought, maybe Image is ECW of comics. Also getting into Ultimate Marvel and really loving it. Still have a lot of it to buy. Planning to drop a few hundred or a thousand early next month fo fill in holes, mostly the Parker/Morales Ultimate Spidey titles. End of Ultimate imprint looks underwhelming and lacks big names that will sell me trade collections, but first several years were great. Also, finding out that Joe Casey is a helluva comic writer. American Grant Morrison in a sense. Six months ago, I knew him mostly as Ben 10 co-creator and average work-for-hire gigs on Cable, X-men, etc. back in early 2000’s. Had no idea until recently that he’s done a lot of weird, experimental creator-owned books. Lot of out there, sorta subversive takes on super-heroes. Sex was fascinating, catalyst Comix was a lot of fun, Automatic Kafka and The Intimates (both from WildStorm) were really ambitious and interesting, Godland was better Kirby than Kirby. lol, even his Final Crisis tie-in was pretty different. Not a fans of the artists he works with, but an awful lot of his books are delivering imo.
  11. Got an issue similar to Control’s, albeit with a much simpler solution. My mother-in-law has decided she wants to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with us then fly to Australia before New Year’s for her sister’s 90th birthday. My ma-in-law is 84 and can probably fly alone, but hasn’t since her husband passed and has never traveled abroad without her husband, so we’re a bit nervous. Original plan was for someone to go with Ma in mid-February but she then misses the party, so that’s a bad plan. Wife and her sisters are kinda stressed worrying Ma won’t be able to travel alone and they won’t be able to rearrange their schedules to go. Fortunately, my wife passed on the chance to marry up and instead married me. I don’t really see this as a problem since I will be on holiday vacation until after New Year’s and don’t really have to punch a clock. If I have to delay getting back to the office for a couple extra days, it’s not a problem so, if we don’t find a better solution, I’m planning to fly with Ma-in-law to Sydney, make sure she gets to her sister’s and gets settled, then turn around and fly home. Easy Peasy. in less interesting news, I cleaned under a garage freezer this morning and found half a chocolate Easter egg. Fairly sure it’s been under there for years. I would have expected it to be eaten by vermin. Or melt. Or just decay. Instead, it held its shape and kinda fossilized. Ick. At the moment, I am in no hurry to eat processed chocolate.
  12. Is Jericho donating money and making sure people know about it really much different from virtue seekers wringing their hands and making sure I know how constantly offended they are? Same tune, different verse. At least Jericho’s money accomplishes something.
  13. I don’t think Brady’s going out like this. Just a few days ago, he said on a podcast that he’s not thinking about retirement; it’s in his “rear view mirror”. I think he’ll leave the Bucs next year for a better team. I’m not convinced he’s washed up. Probably some truth to that’s but the Bucs have a lot of issues this year starting with the o-line, so blaming it all on Brady seems unfair. I also think the divorce has got to be affecting his mindset. Never been through one personally, but I’ve seen a lot of friends and colleagues struggle through them. I lay awake in bed worrying I’m going to have to fire a colleague I’ve known for 20 years because his work has sucked ever since his wife left him three years ago. Not at all the same dude that helped me build the company. Will never really understand the hate except in the general sense that society likes to tear down public figures. Brady has had an amazing career snd held up (into his 40’s) far better than anyone to play the game, I’ve slowly become a fan of his professionally. Even if he is over the hill, I’m not sure why I should feel bad for him. He’s had a ball-of-fame career and will retire when he wants to. I really dislike the idea that athletes owe it their public or legacy or whoever to retire at their peak because that’s the way sportswriters and fans want the story to go. If Brady wants to play till he’s 50 and spend his last few seasons as Geno Smith’s backup, that’s fine by me. He’s earned and it ‘s not my decision anyways, I do feel bad that his divorce is public fodder, but that’s part and parcel of being a public figure. Still gross. I’d I had Brady money, I’d be hiring tempted to hire people to track down the real names of message board trolls and speculate about their marriages online. Would only be fair.
  14. Not going to lie. I kinda want to see Larry turn heel and join the Elite.
  15. I don’t really think the world needs more weird, self-destructive drug addicts who don’t care about their lives and loved ones to get help. I don’t think drug addicts should be idolized or romanticized in general. Sure, Phoenix and Ledger were talented and maybe even had a particular strain of “genius”, but so do a lot of people who manage to channel their talents in more productive ways. Those guys chose not to do that. What might have happened if things had played out different is irrelevant. They didn’t play out differently. If I could sing, I might have been the next Elvis. Since I can’t sing, the shoulda-woulda-coulda is moot. In general, we tend to romanticize celebrities who die young. It’s the James Dean effect, they don’t live long enough to disappoint us on-screen. Heath Ledgers would probably be less fondly regarded after he made a Garfield movie or six.
  16. I feel like Ryan is a shoe-in for the Hall of Very Good. I’d probably vote no for the Hall of Fame, but it’s close.
  17. So you don’t think men should write women characters or am i misunderstanding?
  18. Imo, getting Johns involved would only help. Don’t really understand why he’s so unpopular. Different strokes for different folks and all that, but I rarely dislike a Johns-scripted project (comics, tv, etc.). Apparently, I’m supposed to dislike him, but he’s probably my favorite comics writer. Doesn’t hurt that he almost always works with great artists. I’d like a JSA movie but only if it draws heavily from Johns run and brings Alan Scott and Jay Garrick into the DC Universe properly. JSA without Jay and Alan isn’t JSA. I’m kind of concerned that Ezra Miller would find his way into a JSA movie. No thanks. I saw Black Adam over the weekend. Lol, that’s my entire review. Don’t really have a strong opinion either way. Thought it was uninspired.
  19. Don’t see this matchup doing big ratings unless Fox manages to channel ESPN’s hype machine and make the Phillies out to be next coming of Rocky Balboa. Feels like an average matchup even if the Phillies do make it a competitive series. I don’t really have strong feeling for either team, so I guess I’ll root for Astros. My feeling is Phillies may be happy just to have gotten this far. Astros in 5.
  20. Didn’t watch Whittakers last episode, but did see the last minute on Twitter. Nice bit of misdirection. I’m not a diehard fan and generally find the show a chore to get through (sorry, fans), but I did enjoy the Honestly, I figured I was done with the show for good. Bringing them back for a short run is maybe the only thing that would get me back on board. Kinda skeptical I’ll stick around for the Davies/Gatwa run, but I’ll probably end up at least checking it out.
  21. This seems like the answer. I didn’t know Vampiro was ill or that he was still working, so I googled him. According to Vamp himself, he in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, has CTE (progressive deterioration of the brain caused by repeated concussions), chronic arthritis, is in long-term therapy for multiple mental health issues, and has a few other health issues he was vague about. That sounds like…. a lot. I’m kinda skeptical he’d be able to wrestle if all of that is true. I’m also skeptical promoters would book him and opponents would agree to work with him. I can see one or two of those things happening - outlaw mud show mentality and all that - but all three seems like a bit much. Also, according to Vampiro, modern medicine isn’t/can’t do much for him so he’s turned to alternative medicine and is being treated by an old dude learned in the ways of ancient Chinese medicine. Because of course he is. My guess is Vampiro has some health issues that are greatly exaggerated. This is the same dude that says he is drug-free then takes a breath and qualifies that statement a bunch of different ways. Lol, Google also gave me the impression Vamps’ idea of being drug-free and my my idea of being drug-free are surprisingly different.
  22. Free PS5/Xbox Series X-S upgrade for Fallout 4 announced today. Coming sometime in 2023.
