  1. This is strange considering that they started with re-releases already in the PSX era. So you would assume that they were aware of the worth of that property over 20 years ago (e.g. FF IV was released on PSX in Japan in 1997).
  2. Kelly's rope running, which was first day of wrestling school bad, and her double jump for the hip toss, got some good laughs from me. Purazzo forgetting to hook the leg on the Russian leg sweep was not that much better. The early stuff of Zeuxis vs. Monroe was really cringe-worthy, not even the heavy cutting they did, could hide that. At least they recovered towards the end.
  3. Looks like a mix between Assassin's Creed and Arkham Asylum to me. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you.
  4. I did not remember that bit but 15 s in I wanted to scream "MARJORIE".
  5. I thought about this again: the easiest way to get where they want is doing it similar as the Golden Globes and splitting the best picture category. I think three categories would work out best: best drama, best comedy and best action film while scrapping the best animated feature film.
  6. How do they plan to assign this Oscar? Best box-office numbers? I mean if they plan to have voting by the academy itself this could get really stupid as they would have to define some really strange criteria (like "best movie that you think is kind-of-dumb" or similar).
  7. People have been waiting for a Star Trek series that is set after TNG, DS9, Voyager etc. for 15 years. If this will be centered on a near 80 year old Picard this will probably be pretty bad, however if Picard is just a recurring character (as a retired Admiral or whatever) this could be something. At least for once this won't be an alternate timeline piece or prequel like everything after Voyager (Enterprise, the post-Nemesis movies, Discovery) which should give them much more creative freedom without getting too silly in going into alternate timeline stuff like Discovery.
  8. Euro qualifiers should not be an issue, the qualification for the 2020 Euro for example does not start until March 2019. It will be an impediment for the UEFA Nations League, I assume, but I am not sure if that would have a future anyway. And for anyone saying "fuck FIFA": I my book the IOC is still worse, at least FIFA has not killed the World Cup to a degree that most western countries don't even want to host the event anymore (which is what happened to the Winter Olympics). And a World Cup in Qatar does not make less sense than Winter Olympics in Beijing.
  9. Who else here is watching the new DuckTales? I do and I am really loving it. With most characters they went into a more adult direction (or at least in a direction for them being more accessible for adults) and people who were annoying in the original (e.g. Webby or Doofus) are much less so in the new version. The voice acting is really good too. There are also lots of easter eggs and cameos (e.g. Darkwing Duck or Gummi Bears).
  10. They made good use of the VARs during the first two rounds of the prelims, today they did not, at all. Very long interruptions to the game flow and bad decisions all over the place.
  11. As someone who last lived for 9 months in Finland: that was the most Finnish guy ever.
  12. No matter e-sports how big are going to get, I well never be able to take this seriously, and I am playing video games for 30 years since I was 8 years old. And don't know how silly e-sports must look to older generations.
  13. That presentation was really rushed. Was there any live stuff in the auditorium? Not that I want to complain, but it still seems weird.
  14. So Cody (Rhodes) is now a character in a video game?
  15. Somehow Omega looks to be the older of the two.
  16. Maybe they want to be on prime time in Europe, at least for French company Ubisoft this makes sense.
  17. I am currently going through the fifth season of Arrested Development. Some folks in the May thread did not seem to be big fans of this, however, apart from the clip-show first episode, so far (4 episodes in) this is a huge improvement over season 4. Maeby's schemes ingenious and Tobias for once is actually funny instead of annoying. It's also a good thing that Tony Hale is not much in this so far as the they went so far with the Buster character that he seems to be beyond repair.
  18. Klopp did not care, he still celebrated all night:
  19. I am currently catching up a bit on the Netflix TV stuff. The last week or so I was binging through Iron Fist and was surprised that it was hated that much (37 on Metacritic, 18% at RT). Sure it's cheesy (I am not sure if this is 100% the word I am looking for) and there are some huge plotholes (for example why would the DEA believe Danny using Rand to build up a criminal empire when he was with the company for two seconds or why would Joy want to kill Danny), but at least it was never boring, something I cannot say about the second season of Daredevil that bored me to tears.
  20. Young Elrond would only be around for the very end of the Silmarillion. The better material for a TV series might be the second age. First you would get some decent creative freedom without interfering with the core story, second you could either concentrate on the end of the second age and have a steady cast of humans (Amandil, Elendil, Isildur and Anarion) and elves (Elrond, Gil-galad, Galadriel and Cirdan) or go full spectrum and use the elves as center point of the story (maybe do it in an anthology way, first season concentrate on the end of the first age and Elros' reign, second season you could do about Eregion, the creation of the rings and the capture of Sauron and the third season about the fall of Numenor and the last season about the end of the second age).
  21. Sorry to pull this thread up, but apparently Spectre and Meltdown were just the beginning: https://thehackernews.com/2018/05/intel-spectre-vulnerability.html This basically means that for the time being cloud computing in theory should be toast. When I read about this last Thursday my first thought was that I could make some money out of this by shorting shares of the biggest cloud computing providers (Amazon, Microsoft and Google) but then I realized that (a) 99.99% (or more) of investors won't realize what Spectre NG could mean and (b) no companies using said cloud services have an interest in this getting a huge topic as it would also fuck their business.
  22. Sorry, I know nothing about Nickelodeon except that it's a TV channel for children. Apparently there is a German version nowadays, but there was none when I was a kid (disregarding the fact that we did not have a dish (or cable) until I was 14 or so anway).
  23. He was literally slimed? Damn, now the line suddenly becomes really lame.
  24. No love for Mauro using the line "Cole may be slimier than John Cena at the Kids' Choice Awards, but..."? I hope Cena does not watch NXT or otherwise Mauro will be a goner for good.
