  1. There was clearly a angry bumblebee or hungry 'skeeter on Ascension Conor's bicep, and Mr. Dead Man was just helping a chum. - RAF
  2. One of my favorite "bad" skits is the Beulah/Dreamer/Raven in-ring pregnancy reveal. So very telenovela, and the ECW crowd eats it up. Styles, Stevie and Meanie add to it a lot as well. Damn, I miss a long term angle. - RAF
  3. Human Resource violation? Hiring the handy-capable? Bad touch no? Is this camera live? Bring One of Gary Hart's Bastard Children to Work Day? - RAF
  4. Box Brown, creator of the Andre the Giant graphic novel, has these "screenshots" for a proposed game. I really wish it would be actualized. Check out the rest on his site (http://boxbrown.com/godofwrestling). The man digs his rassling. - attempting to tie in with yesterday's gaming disscussion, RAF
  5. Jacklyn Hyde did it first and best. I miss WoW, RAF p.s. - hello Dean!
  6. Meltzer was very hard on Dusty during his booker phase (and over-promotion of himself). Rhodes certainly inserted himself into any other feud that was getting over, but people forget what a monstrous influence the opinions in the WON had on wrestling fandom for better and worse. Dave's favorites and dislikes became the majority view unless one really really went out on one's own to find your own way. ECW never got proper coverage until after it was already becoming an influence in the biz, for example. Dave definitely acknowledged DR's legendary history but he was merciless in mocking his then-current role, persona and decisions. - RAF The American Dream, RIP, one of my all time favorites
  7. I dig that Kane (ooooh, I get it now!!!!) .gif, but I often pictured Ole Anderson in place of Mr. Welles. Make it so, computer magic interWeb people! - RAF
  8. Goldberg speared Jericho through the polycarbonate of a pod, cracking it in twain as well (Summerslam 2003). Was that the last time that this happened before this last event? Was it mentioned that the construction was upgraded after that? At any rate, there is precedent that the pods are not unbreakable. - RAF
  9. I had that Nikita graphic on a bandanna (I lluuurrrvvved it when WCW sold bandannas at the merch table) and I still have my Rude/Bull shirt. Also, I stride upon the Earth like a shining god amongst lowly beasts because I own this (purchased from thee Man Himself at a Cauliflower Alley): It's full of photos and anecdotes as well. Note the plastic comb style binding. That's hardcore. - RAF
  10. Confession: I can't stand the "tradition" of opponents shaking hands after the match. Once in a while, after a babyface vs. babyface scientific opener (Mike Jackson/Nelson Royal) or to set up an angle it's OK, and I dig thee handshaking in the beginning or middle of a match 'cause that means it will end in tears. Hachiman bless you, Mr. Nakamura. - RAF
  11. Eric Caiden of Hollywood Book & Poster died last week. He was an extremely important figure in thee hidden history of wrestling, bridging (the previously large gap in days gone by) between fandom and the business. His enthusiasm for wrestling and his business sense made him a de facto player, dealing in memorabilia, booking and promoting. In the pre-InterWeb world, you could call the store and speak to Eric to get booking info on almost any worker, find the whereabouts of old vets, learn what luchadors were appearing in the US or get the info on any new dirtsheets, fan clubs or wrestler movie cameos coming out. He set up appearances for wrestlers at cons, in movies or on records. I lament that I will never get to hear all his stories. - R.I.P., RAF
  12. Constantly. I am often remembering angles, inventing gimmicks, coming up with finishers and most importantly, correlating thee rasslings with other culture. I especially do this when seeing other forms of public entertainment and performance. I can fill up a notebook in a month with musing, meanderings and genius-level innovations & observations. Case in point: I was at my daughter's school-wide dance recital (K thru 4), a dreary and saccharine ordeal, surrounded by iPhone wielding helicopter moms, kvelling grandmas and loutish mooks. I started re-booking the whole thing (why were they beginning with the ballet themed second graders that's a terrible opener, you could bring the back up with this line dancing spot, etc). The kindergartners were like the midgets, strictly comedy (which is good), but a few kids actually had talent. Make a territory, they could puts asses in seats on a circuit - I would give them a push. As this thing dragged on I was booking run-ins. Hell, this is South Philly, most of these fat kids are no Fred Astaires, they gotta get hardcore, that'll pop the marks/parents. I amuse myself. unfit parent or misanthropic neo-Watts (or both)?, RAF
  13. I am intrigued by the Hebrew lettering in James L's tattoo, as well as the wizard depicted on his rib cage. - RAF
  14. Went to the CZW "Best of the Best 14" last night - really outstanding card, well booked and solid if a tad long (people love to talk on the mic). Many excellent workers including Andrew Everett, Buxx Belmar (my boy), Tommy End, Jonathan Gresham (this guy is amazing, why have I not heard of him before (practice that mist blowing, kid)?), "Speedball" Mike Bailey (great underdog babyface) and CJP[arker] (who played the crowd like a fine violin, really the MVP here). Well done. Nick Gage returned to CZW, never in my life have I heard such a stream of unending profanity and the marks loved it, Jeebus loves you New Jersey. Nothing exceeds like excess! - saddened but not shacked, RAF
  15. Photoshoot, I thought this was from one of Dean Ambrose's hobo meth parties. No chance a hobo meth party ever looks that good. Depends on how much hobo meth you have smoked. The comedown can be quite horrifying... - RAF
  16. No way: it's "Hippie" Mike Boyette (looking so fine, I might add). - RAF
  17. This was the first WON I ever got. Notice the lack of columns, the original art, the typewriteriness of it all. Stamps were a quarter, and life was cheap in PR. Cleaning out the basement, anybody want 50+ lbs of Observers? Seriously, postage will be a bitch for the buyer but I want to let them go. PM me... old & in the way, RAF
  18. I AM SO SORRY: I have namedropped this event several times on this board but I crave relevance. Lisa Sliwa debuted at a (Heyman promoted) Studio 54 wrestling event, the same one as Bam Bam Bigelow's coming out. BBB looked great (it may have even been a handicap match) but Lisa Sliwa was, in ring parlance, the drizzling sh*ts. It was apparent she did not want to be there, but pro wrestling could fit in with the grandstanding publicity-grabbing motif of her husband. I assume that since Larry Sharpe trained Bigelow that he "trained" Sliwa. good ol' NYC, RAF
  19. I'm sorry, but it will always be thee Butt Butt to me, dammit. Blackbirds 4ever, RAF
  20. Late to the party, but that Rivalries show on Flair/Rhodes was excellent, and the usage of the Apter stuff really made it for me. The new shows look like crap - stick to rassling stuff, please. All of them look like 00s era reality/daytime/video store junk. - RAF
