  1. I haven't been keeping up and am waiting until after my move to sign up, but even still I've been wondering about their three main men's belts being on people who are mostly part of the main roster or another promotion. And Athena is also in the women's Owen Hart tournament. I've been wondering whether Tony is going to give up on the experiment since it seems as if they're not getting a streaming deal anytime soon.
  2. Still slowly doing my ECW on Peacock watch, still in the first season (so 1993) when it was Eastern Championship Wrestling. Wanted to watch from the start to see the transition to Extreme, and the past few episodes (leading up to Ultra Clash 93) are clearly part of the shift. Past few episodes were based in-studio with Jay Sulli actually showing some personality and a clearly wasted Eddie Gilbert just riffing, funny stuff and they had a weird chemistry. Anything is better than Steve Wonderful. And then, in the final show before the PPV, Gilbert (and whoever Freddie Gilbert is) are no longer in the PPV or the promotion and the Championship belt has mysteriously gone from Tito Santana to Shane Douglas.
  3. You bring in Nick Wayne against some enhancement talent where he doesn’t get to do the things he can do and people will bitch. Have people totally lost the concept of a solid, competitive loss?
  4. That list is like 90% of wrestling moves.

    THE STRIKE

Seeing that some of the actors walked out in the middle of the Oppenheimer premiere when the strike was officially instituted.
  6. That was a fantastic payoff of long-term storytelling and character building. I was getting very emotional about someone I don't care for at all.
  7. Matt D is right, not for everyone (including me)
  8. Gravediggaz is out of print? Or just vinyl?
  9. Damn, I'm currently going to be in Philly for a couple of days before that to close on a house there, not sure I can stretch out my trip to include that whole weekend!
  10. I'm with you on hoping this leads to Cole turning back into a heel. I don't want them winning the tag titles unless MJF drops the singles belt (which I don't think he should do) because I don't like the idea of having someone with two of the top belts (especially someone who mostly works as a special attraction). I liked the show. Jericho was working 1997 Monday Nitro Jericho vs luchadores, solid basing and flow except being a little out of position on one of the big spots. Good middle section with wacky lucha armdrags and ranas. I'm with Matt D that I hope that Jericho joins with Callis and feuds with the Elite. Darby-OC vs Garcia and Guevara was a great showcase of young talent and your hottest current act, did a lot to advance angles, and the Swerve run-in was a nicely shot moment complete with Darby looking up and saying "oh shit" right before getting kicked in the face. Expecting both Garcia and Guevara taking a run at OC. The Cole-MJF skit was a little over-the-top campy at times but worked overall and quite funny how it morphed into an ad for the video game. They need to be careful about overdoing this because even though I'm enjoying it a ton, there was a little TOO much Adam Cole tonight. The match itself was very schticky, right to the edge of being too much, but then it paid off. I much prefer Big Bill and Moriarty. I think Skye and Ruby had a better match a month or so ago, but this was another very good match and Skye is definitely still growing and needs an experienced lead. Still, she sold the hell out of that knee and it felt like she had a chance and belongs in her spot. Excellent work calling back Ruby's broken nose and playing possum to get the win, and the super No Future was a great finish. Swerve-Nick Wayne was a good choice because they obviously have worked together a lot. Nick took some huge bumps, and the finisher was scary. The springboard cutter as a finisher might not cut it in AEW, but clever name! In the minority here but PAC was a huge letdown (and the crowd seemed to agree). I'm interested in Blood and Guts but not excited like I was last year.
  11. “That wasn’t me who said that word, brother, it was the frog!”
  12. I used the sad emoji because of poor Kermit being used like that. Would be funny if the Disney C&D said "That's not gonna work for us, brother"
  13. Can it be worse than the Burton version?
  14. That's not one of those parody news sites?
  15. Yeah it was a really bad face/head bump on a TV match.
  16. I was at the Austin WWE Smackdown taping where Edge made his debut and at the time everyone thought he broke Estrada's neck. I also have a memory of seeing Droz's accident but it must be a Mandela Effect.
  17. The 4-way with them and Orange Cassidy?
  18. FTR-BCG is one that came out of nowhere and is definitely on the list as of now, partly perhaps because of how it came out of nowhere.
  19. Second half of that show was an all timer, even with swole Sky-Andretti having a Dark main event level match. Booking wise, I figured that Gold would win, but the first few minutes felt like they were just building FTR up, and all I could think was how much I wanted Jay White to be TNT champion. And then it just kept going, and going, and building, and I started appreciating what Juice was bringing, and Jay White was just going all out, and by the end I was fully behind BCG AND THEN Juice gets the pin AND THEN they announce a 2/3 falls for next week and anyway I’m drunk but that was fucking phenomenal. I liked Starks-Hobbs and I’m excited about Ricky in the finals and Hobbs maybe being done with QTV (and even more QTV being done). what else even happened? The Willow-Athena face off and promo battle was better than whatever women’s match happened. I FFWD through something about Shawn Spears. There was another match right? edit: I meant besides Joe-Punk duh. I had no idea it was as short as it was because it had an epic feel and even though I never saw their earlier matchups I felt like they did a great job of combining the story of two guys who knew each other and had epic battles with them both being 18 years older and not quite capable of doing everything they could when they were young.
  20. Felt a lot longer but I would definitely have dropped Sky-Andretti and given them 30 if they were capable of it.
  21. I guess Shafir is legit enough that no one is going to outright shoot on her, but I’m surprised some other wrestlers haven’t lit her up more for the number of stiff shots and rough throws she does.
  22. I saw references to that on the Twitter which helped prompt my thoughts on him. Not sure how he thinks he has charisma or mic work over someone like Darby Allin, but he does have a point that AEW fans do seem to prefer their wrestlers to be relatable.
  23. IIRC isn’t every major Canadian city within like 150 km of the US border? As someone in Texas, I get the travel distance thing, but the four largest cities in Texas are within about 5 hours of each other.
  24. I alternated between mild dislike and total lack of interest for this one. Opener was a lesser version of last week, Bucks are very tiresome at this point. I think @SprintingFromAmericanailed the booking problems with this feud pretty well. The ostensible faces really have been the heels but will never be accepted as heels, while the ostensible heels have a legitimate grievance while also having spent 2 years as comedy JTTS. Then, rather than having Dark Order lay the boots in after the Claudio interference, they just leave AND walk right by Kenny Omega’s run-in. I paused for a second during my QTV fast-forward to see the Bowens cover. That is a handsome man. Second match had similar face-heel issues. One team is a clear heel who is getting pops in Canada, and a clear babyface. The other is a conflicted heel and a conflicted tweener. Match was just there, and I’m going to have a hard time caring about Triple Jay vs. Matt and Zay. I guess I should go back and watch the Shida-Shafir match rather then browsing Bluesky since Curt said it was rough and Shida getting pissed. Brian Cage is like someone having a D&D character where they used all their character points on strength and dexterity. I just can’t care no matter how I try. In general, this was a totally random tag draw that made no sense and led to a mostly nothing match with no stakes.
  25. That’s a lot more of a steady line then some recent shows. Be interesting to see if trends can continue. The recent shows have been mostly good to great from start to finish.
