  1. Holy crap! This was great! One of my favorite things in Lucha is when, after an early Rudo beatdown, the Technicos get their shit together and make their comeback. Crowd was hot for it in this one. Final fall has blood, fouls, mask ripping, people flying everywhere, it's great! Number 2 for me right now.
  2. Remember when we used to have a thread called "This is Pro Wrestling MOTHERFUCKERS"? We should've just posted a youtube of this and closed it. I love that there's not really a "wrestling hold" used until the third fall. It's just a fight up until then. The crowd reaction when Chicana finally breaks out his big left in the second fall is great. Nice job making that mean something. I love that the third fall just comes down to each guy trying to survive. They've spent the first two beating the hell out of each other, now someone's gotta get put away. Yep. This is number one for sure. There's going to have to be something really special to top this.
  3. Once I was past the novelty of seeing Kevin Von Erich in a lucha setting, this match was all about the rudos for me. I especially loved Herodes and his tubby-dude bumping. This was a good introductory trios as it has a fairly conventional structure for that type of match. These are the matches that are really tough to rank. Somewhere in the middle, I'm sure. I enjoyed watching it, but don't think it was all that memorable.
  4. I have a hard time calling any match on any of these sets "bad". I think they're all at least pretty good and worth watching. That's kinda where this one falls for me. Nothing offensive, but nothing that makes me say, "Wow!" either. I really dig matwork when it's done well. These two are both very good at it, and it's nice to watch. Like Nomad up there, I like these sort of "Let's have a nice wrestling match, now I'm starting to get a little pissed, FUCK YOU, IT'S ON!" matches. I'm more of a fan of the old hate-filled brawl, but I'm not going to penalize a match for not being what I want it to be. They went out there to work this type of match and did a nice job of it. Again, glad I watched this, but it won't be terribly high.
  5. Very disappointed in Don Corleone's mask. Couldn't we at least have an orange peel for the mouth or something? I agree with Graham that this had more of a 70's NWA feel to it. Both guys struggle for holds then move on to "bombs" (or at least bombs for the time, atomic drops, bodyslams, etc). I liked this match just fine, but it never really got to that next gear where I'd rank it really high.
  6. This match was really all about the fashion choices. The tasteful tassels on Centurion Negro's boots and wrists, Thesz's ref shit that wouldn't look out of place on Blondie's Clem Burke, and last (but not least) the AMAZING jacket Negro's second is wearing. I'll take one in every color! I liked this match quite a bit too. Really nice matwork to start. Guys jockey for position for the first fall. Second fall picks up a little with Hamada working in some slams and stuff. Then the final fall gets moving even more. Hamada gets knocked outside and Negro tope's him into a mud puddle like a dick. Then Hamada gets him back, and I'm all yelling at Centurion's second, "DON'T GET ANY OF THAT FUCKING MUD ON YOUR JACKET!" So, yeah. Good stuff. I like these kind of matches that escalate as they go. Not going to threaten for the top spot or anything, but this could be upper half.
  7. Fun match to kick things off. Really a nice showcase for all of Hamada and Sayama's cool offense. I love that the rudos' offense consisted mainly of punches and knees. Oh, and Perro's killer senton. I liked this just fine. Hard to tell where it'll end up this early, though.
  8. This is worked exactly like me vs. my daughter and my two nephews at any family function. Fun match. Probably bottom half, though.
  9. Thanks for posting those Starrcade matches, Kash. I was at that show and don't think I've seen them since then. That show was a lot of fun. There's a pic of Ultimo Dragon from that show in the instruction book for the Playstation version of WCW vs The World. You can see my friend and I very tiny in it. Fun fact.
  10. You could argue that anyone who does any job for anything other than the money is a mark.
  11. There are "marks" in every line of work. The place I work has, well, worked several people by giving them new titles in lieu of raises or actual promotions. Same deal as the promoters Rev Axl mentioned.
  12. Perfect. Wife and kid are going out of town on Thursday and Friday. Should get a nice chunk of viewing done those two days!
  13. Re: Those tattoos. What the fuck is wrong with people?
  14. Isn't the anniversary show on Friday? It's Sept. 13th, right?
  15. I'm interested in watching the big Anniversary show on Friday. Any way to do that online? Does it usually pop up in youtube pretty quickly?
  16. Add to that the fact that Ryback's new character is very Biff Tannen-esque and...
  17. I think he's saying it doesn't matter who writes it. It all comes down to what Vince and Co. at the top want.
  18. I think that may be my favorite team that I've never seen a match from.
  19. http://vimeo.com/26875775 I shot this story a couple years ago. Got an emmy nomination out of it. Didn't win. Just call me Susan Lucci. I did a pretty cool story on Mitch Ryder's fed a few years ago, too. I'll have to get it uploaded. Don't know if it's online anymore.

  21. If you take all those guys in their primes (which they obviously weren't when in WWF), and that is no doubt the best roster ever.
