So, playing Dead Space now. I've been playing Survival Horror games for neigh on 20 years now, I'm used to jump scares, but damn if this game isn't trying its damndest to get me. This is one of those games, that while checking off every Horror/Sci-Fi game trope in the list, still manages to be fun and engrossing and keeping me playing. Although I wish I hadn't read reviews of 3 because now I'm gonna be dissappointed when I get there. But then again, I found Mass Effect 3's ending enjoyable even though there's still endless bitching about it. (Not saying people are unfairly bitching about DS3, I haven't gotten there yet and will reserve judgement until I get there myself.)

Well Verizon still uses MPEG-2 containers with H.262 for FiOS, which keeps it at 720. They do it because they claim they're near QAM compacity, although they could clear it up killing off most of the duped SD channels they carry (like Cablevision did). Course, Verizon has been cleaning up their tiers the past few weeks and seem to have a lot of channels opened up, since I know they're switching codecs over to MPEG-4 pt 10 with H.264 codecs after the Quantum TV rollout is over. Course, most companies could solve this problem by getting rid of the QAM shit completly and go to IPTV, but that requires a hardcore hardware upgrade that's expensive.

They don't even fully do that. Curve is supposed to be a "immersion" gimmick, and doesn't even do that well. You can go UHD if you want (I'd recommend waiting at least until Vizio drops theirs in the fall), but you're only getting the full benifit with the UHD players and discs. It'll be over a decade before we start getting UHD through service providers,so stick with regular HD stuff for now.

Short answer, Cristobal's answer. Long answer, Just about every network/TV studio just finished upgrading to 1080p30 kit, and that was really expensive to do. No way they're going to start doing kit upgrades across the board for a higher resolution now, they're going to wait until the current kit starts breaking down and goes officially End of Life, and even then, they'll stretch it out long as possible. Also, the codecs necessary to compress/decompress a 4000k video without it being massive and not crashing aren't out yet, and would require industry wide upgrades to equipment to use them anyway. That, and most cable/sattilite systems would have to do a massive overhaul of their QAM bands to carry the stations. So yeah, we're not getting UHD TV across the board anytime in the next decade. Shit, we technically still don't have HD across the board yet.

This. And he spent a good amout of time being touted as the "Worst Doctor" when he tried his ass off, but the stories weren't that good to begin with. Add in that he got sacked between seasons solely because Nathan-Turner/Grade didn't like him at all, which lead to Baker being the only Doctor now(since McGann finally got his scene) to not be present for his regeneration scene (McCoy was in a curly blonde wig during the opening teaser of the series premier). Considering how badly he did get shit on, its a testament to his character that he's so positive about being a former Doctor and is genuniely happy to appear in panels and get togethers and interact with Who Fans, something Eccelson should probably take a lesson from.
