  1. I think it's clear Dean Ambrose will appeal to the internet fans, and Roman Reigns to the more casual type of fans. Roman has potential to be a huge mainstream star as well, although he lacks the charisma of the major players in WWE history. But in their own way, both are really good news for WWE and it's sad how some people don't see that fact when it comes to Reigns. I can see Seth playing that Triple H role too, working with the guys that make the money.
  2. Sell the big moves but without looking goofy or jumping. In submissions, constantly check the guy if he wants to quit. Look at the time table keeper or the bell guy, saying "no" from time to time. The NJPW main referee is great at this, a bit over the top but I actually like it.

    2014 G1 Climax

Did anyone think Okada-Styles wasn't the MOTY Meltzer made it out be? And it's funny how just a day after he was on the show, he was hyping the guy as a ring general like he was Flair or Kawada.
  4. Just another sign of how this board is turning into wrestlingforum. Read the Raw thread for more alarming signs, it's a shame.
  5. The grown daughter of a millionaire just dived into a pool of "crap" and made a fool of herself. The McMahon family will do anything for the business, it's crazy.
  6. Honestly, this is the right move for me. I don't like the timing or the booking, but you need to build your company around one guy. Every successful wrestling promotion worked like that and now it's the time for TNA to be really conservative with the booking if they want to keep the TV deal. Take no risks, drop the meta-wrestling-shoot stuff, pick a guy and run with him while obviously being alert to the crowd signals, what they want or don't, but it's not about shoving someone down our throats, it's just having confidence in your booking. Sting, Angle, AJ are gone, Joe is fat and sucks now, Jeff Hardy is far too unpredictable... if I was to put all my money on someone with the ability to alert a different crowd, to draw people not only already invested in the pro-duct but even WWE fans, it would be Lashley. The MMA background is a plus, was over at the time in WWE, works in a simple, basic but effective way, powerhouse type, etc. I'd have done it differently though, maybe an Evolution type of angle with MVP playing Triple H and Lashley Batista, slowly getting the fans behind him begging for the face turn. So I'd put the belt on MVP before, but it's just fantasy booking so it doesn't matter. Let's see how this plays out, I'm giving TNA another chance after Slamniversary.
  7. How much time was given other than 1 minute segments? And I don't think it's dumb, feels perfectly normal to me and Nattie is playing the role really well. You can argue that Tyson isn't a good actor and doesn't have convincing facial expressions but the storyline presented feels logical, strong, and it's entertaining. Or I'm just a complete NXT mark, which no doubt about it, I am. - Alexa Bliss rocks my world - Sasha really grew on me, the whole storyline with the BFFs is fun. Whatever, Charlotte doesn't feel like she's in the spotlight anymore, and having Summer Rae by her side doesn't help because she's great in her mannerisms and just gets that role. - I love how the NXT crowd is smart and fun, but in a cool way. Not in that post-WM crowd "we are awesome let's cheer heels so edgy!" self masturbatory attitude, but just fun and puts over the action and talent instead of themselves. - Entrances are a big thing in wrestling and that 20s team which reminds of Art of Manliness is super fun. I was thinking how each NXT guy has a very distinctive entrance and how important that is, I couldn't help but compare it to TNA where everyone wants to be unique and different but just has the same generic thing going on. The people that run from that norm, like The Beautiful People, are the ones over. I don't know about this, I could be seeing reality through mark-glasses. - Speaking of TNA again, NXT is built around wrestling matches. Everyone gets over because of wrestling and doing his thing, I feel like TNA wants to get people over by over booking, over feuding, over talking, everything instead of wrestling. In NXT the talking and storyline segments feel refreshing and fun, in TNA they are a drag. - In that line, the Kalisto-Breeze match is a nice example of what I want to say. Tyler worked the headlock until the crowd was tired, but at least it didn't feel like it was an automatic thing just for them to start cheering. It had meaning, let's put this guy in a freaking headlock since it's a wrestling maneuver. So when Kalisto hit his spots the crowd cared and it felt important. I feel like the same match on TNA would've been Kalisto throwing those moves in the first 3 seconds, without letting the crowd process anything, and after some bullshit interference or something it would be over in 2 minutes. Not trying to tell how wrestling "should" be, I understand there's a lot of things different. But NXT just works for me and feels like the perfect example of a great, great show. I mean I don't remember being this excited since I started watching wrestling 10 years ago. (I know, I know, it isn't that long but I was already 15 so my youth lacked man drama and high flying spots.) - Did I mention I love NXT?
  8. You know what else takes more of a toll on your body? Doing stupid bumps, matches and dives in insignificant shows to a couple of people. I enjoy a spotfest as much as the next guy but seeing TNA workers complain about safety is kind of ironic, even if the 6 sides difference is that relevant.
  9. Compare both girls after the match and notice how Paige was breathing hard, while Naomi was just standing there like she was in a nightclub. It was really noticeable and annoying.
  10. I'm completely neutral to this, but I have a feeling I'll have more fun reading comments online about the company than watching it.
  11. Stardust was freaking awesome. Sold. Reigns-Rusev minute or so in the ring felt like a big time moment. Crowd was going nuts, I was marking out. Loved it. Jean Ambrose looked good against Bad News. The Kevin Hart stuff was cringe worthy and the puke thing... I don't know what they're thinking. Edit: they did a recap of Rusev getting the gold medal. Still laughing at the JBL bit "That medal was crafted by Vladimit Putin himself."
  12. It was a dive, but guess what? That's some second rate defending right there. No experienced defender is going to put his hands on the shoulder of the striker in that area, specially someone like Fred, a 30 something that knows when to pick those spots. It was a dive but it reminds of that Gary Neville analyses, in modern football you need to outsmart the diver and not put yourself in a position to let things like that happen. Brazil deserved the win, anyway. Croatia looked strong in the counter attack, not so much in the offensive process. Mexico will pick the 2nd spot in the group.
  13. I always thought a DVDVR type of set for TNA would do the company wonders in years time. Without the awful angles and pointless backstage segments, without the interruptions, the DQs, the over the top feuds and everything that makes TNA... TNA, people would react in a "what was so bad about the company?" way. This was one of my favorite things from 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk1_163iV14 And say what you want about the announcers, at least every single word they said was about the match and the women in the ring.
  14. It was a surprise for me to see how over Ricochet is in New Japan.
  15. I've just discovered his rants of TNA with Vinny and it's the greatest thing ever. He should at least review that show so we can enjoy his anger.
  16. Not sure if throwing some jobbers to the card is the best option after a PPV that everyone was talking, but fine. Mojo was squashed by Rusev so they gave him a win back. New tag team should be fun. Summer Rae back can lead to an interesting angle, let's see. The whole Tyler video thing was awesome, and I love it when wrestling does something like that (The Freebirds, Jimmy Jacobs and Lacey). Main event was fine but I'm not sure if it was a title match. It wouldn't make sense, but they announced it before as a no DQ for the title. Can anyone confirm that? After a battle for the #1 contender spot, some jobber from WWE getting that spot would be a move from TNA Impact catalogue.
  17. People, let's not get off topic and go back to what really matters here.
  18. I laughed when Michael Cole hyped Takeover during RAW by saying the "big match" was Natalya v. Charlotte. It's a big match because the divas division was well built and treated with respect in NXT. Also Natalya is a "veteran" and respected diva starring in a reality show and a former WWE divas champion. I agree that Sami vs Adrian would be so much bigger, part of me hopes they know the potential of that match and are saving it for something special. The other part of me thinks it's one of those Total Divas push to Tyson.
  19. Just seen Ishii-Ibushi... and I need more Ishii in my life. What a match, loved it.
  20. Well it's a problem when that paying crowd doesn't seem to like wrestling. They like what they see on TV, the promos, the personalities and the big names, but when there's a match going on they couldn't care less. Maybe it's their first contact with live wrestling, when there's no camera tricks and shots to cover the punches and etc, so they can't suspend their disbelief to that point. In other threads people complain about dead crowds, I don't see a problem complaining about pseudo-hot crowds. Also, they were just annoying. The twitter thing doesn't bother me, however chanting RVD and ECW in 2014 can strike a nerve.
  21. Is Eva Marie a better worker than Davie Richards? The in-ring psychology of sucking, sticking to her Total Divas character really is impressing me. This calls at least for a spot in that wrestling KO top 100 list.
  22. Really digging the Usos. Simple and appealing gimmick, made for tag team wrestling in a time where the division seemed lost, over with the crowd, fun catchphrase and the in ring work is fine so far. Nothing mind blowing, but they got the basics down and can get a a good fired-babyface comeback going.
  23. When you think you know a song, and then re-discover it and grows on you in a way you never imagined? Happened to me twice this month with Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights and The Cardigan's Lovefool.
  24. Go out of your way to watch this show. Really good stuff. The Shield just may be my favorite thing in wrestling right now and Rowan & Harper vs Rhodes & Goldust was a great, great match.
