if you have any questions about what was going on during the Raws and SmackDowns of the time, feel free to check out my Invasion thread from a couple years ago where i went through every match and angle of the time. Or if you're just bored. http://deathvalleydriver.com/forum/index.php?/topic/6883-invasion/

i know there's quite a few fans of classic kung fu movies here, so i'm asking help in identifying a movie. it's an old Shaw Bros flick and includes two guys fighting down an alley that gets progressively narrower. one or both keep changing their fight style to match their proximity. sorry i don't have more info, but it was referenced on the Netflix doc "Iron Fists and Kung Fu Flicks". while the doc itself is pretty mediocre, this movie grabbed my attention.

re: @Flair’s Shadow. i love how bold you are with your predictions. and how being wrong 100% of the time never deters you from making one the next time.

that Jake Roberts promo tho.....

as i sit here in my Southpaw t-shirt, i fully agree. so hyped right now.

with the hype video highlighting the "WAR", i'd call it "WarCage". sounds both dangerous and close enough to the original. also, i am fucking hyped!

was it Disco Inferno who had to shed some pounds for a CW title shot/defense back in '97ish?

Wrestling belts, designs and reigns.
twiztor replied to The Natural's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
the belt from AGW, my high school backyard wrestling "fed". been meaning to post this for a while, but tagging @Zakk_Sabbath since he made me think of it today. -
he played an outside show here last summer. i marked when he did the Batman '66 theme instrumental.

when i did some backyard wrestling in high school, it was a mixture of pro wres and jiu jitsu. like, we'd hit each other with chairs and go through flaming tables, but we'd also make each other tap to armbars and chokes. it was a lot of fun.

my brain is fried so i could never break it down by weight division like that, but here's some off the top of my head: HW: Andrei Arlovski vs Travis Browne LHW: Jon Jones vs any and all challengers. also Wanderlei Silva vs Rampage MW: Chris Leben vs Wanderlei Silva WW: concur on Condit/Lawler. probably my favorite of all time! Fly: Demetrious Johnson vs whoever he beat with the german suplex armbar WBW: Meisha Tate vs Holly Holm

i'd book Jones/Blachowicz. fresh matchup, 3 straight wins, 7-1 in last 8 with 4 stoppages (2 TKO, 2 SUB). Reyes is right behind him, but let him bounce back with a win and get his head back into the right mindset. personally, the fight that interests me the most is Jones vs Rumble Johnson. i know he had talked about getting back into the USADA testing pool and the speculation was him returning at Heavyweight, but that's 100% the fight i want to see before this Jones trains derails.

thanks for the insight. all 6 of those teams are also blacked out for me. will probably stick with the illegal streams in that case.

for the first time in many, many years i will have evenings and nights off work, and i am quite looking forward to following baseball again. can somebody school me on the mlb.tv service? price, quality, can you just follow one team? how are blackouts determined (i'm a tampa bay fan living in iowa so feel like this shouldn't be a major issue). just looking for info before i decide if i wanna sign up

dammit, Chicago is overdue for Mania. the last one was 22 in 2006. i burned Fozzy's first album and on the cd i wrote "Fozzy = Y2J + Stuck Mojo"

so i finally watched the big COIE crossover/miniseries/whatever you want to call it. disclaimer: i've never watched a single episode of any of these DC shows previously. this crossover was just bad. i loved seeing all the cameos and whatnot (Burt Ward! Justice League Flash! Marv Wolfman!!) but the plot was nonsensical. the acting was subpar. the special effects were B-level. and everything was so. fucking. overly. dramatic. problems were introduced and solved in one scene, multiple times. Lex Luthor made like 3 heel turns. the shadow wraiths or whatever they called them were laughable. Yeah, we really need these 7 "paragons" to take out this army of spirits when we've got non-powered humans punching them and they turn to smoke. sorry, i know everyone here loved it but i just don't get it outside the novelty.

NWA (Current Version) Discussion
twiztor replied to Doghouse Reilly's topic in FEDS JUST TRYING TO MAKE A BUCK
agreed. Allysin Kay has largely bored me as NWA champ, but both matches with Thunder Rosa were great and leaves me wanting to see more of both women. If she showed more of that i would be changing my opinion. -
oh boy, a fumble followed by a missed field goal. yikes. not a good start for this first game.

so, i sat down and read Doomsday Clock beginning-to-end yesterday. i quite enjoyed it. It took 11 of its 12 issues, but i could finally see why Johns called it "a Superman story, not a Watchmen story" or something like that. Some of the interactions were great (Batman/Rorschach II) and some didn't live up to expectations (i wanted more from the Joker/Mime/Marionette stuff) but overall i thought the characters' voices all felt pretty natural (Veidt less so than the others). Loved the ending. all of the Manhattan/Superman lead-in stuff just felt like blowing smoke, but Doc's realization and decision on what to do after that were some damn good stuff. I had stopped reading halfway through as this was being released due to the constant delays, but this works really well in trade. Recommended.

completely agree. do you remember how hard they had to push to get people to even understand what a streaming service is? multiple commercials per show for MONTHS! and now you want to add PPVs to a service that is run by a completely different company? seems like a hard sell to the audience you're already alienating. i wondered how this would impact their plans as well.
