  1. like, just an actual brawl out on the streets, or an official MMA match. because i feel the answer would swing wildly depending on your criteria. you have to take into account size. Conor is not a huge man, he is moving up to have a fight at 170 pounds. Brock Lesnar is humongous and cuts to get down to 265 lbs. i would say there's plenty of WWE wrestlers around that 220-240 lb size that would put a beating on Conor. once again, if we're talking MMA, that tightens it up due to techniques and comfort level and all that stuff, but Conor is not some freak of nature that can just whoop anybody in the world's ass. Your Del Rio comparison is interesting, because once again, when you've got size and strength, many times you can have less technique and still be able to persevere. Del Rio is somewhere around 240 lbs, has MMA training, and was in line to compete in (amateur) wrestling at the Olympic level. His striking leaves a LOT to be desired, but i absolutely don't think it would be a runaway for Conor. Actually i kinda want to see that fight now..... i don't argue with your CM Punk logic. i am very much looking forward to seeing his first UFC fight and getting a true judge of his potential, but when you start training MMA at 35 years old, i don't have high hopes for your career. i just watched the first episode of the Evolution of Punk series, and he's got a long way to go, but that was filmed a year and a half ago. i look forward to watching the progress.
  2. jon must be on hallucinogens now because he's seeing stuff that isn't there
  3. season two has a much better cast IMO. jeremy horn? kevin jackson? chris lytle? oh yeah.
  4. Any word on if they're planning something big for Fight Night 100? Seems like a good reason to throw a great card on free tv (or, better yet, Fight Pass)
  5. holy shit. i know i'm 6 months late, but i finally got a chance to watch Michael Bisping vs. Anderson Silva. this fight was insane. i 100% agree with the judges' decision of 48-47 Bisping. But holy shit, when Silva won a round he cemented it with force. Ando celebrating after that flying knee at the R3 buzzer while Herb Dean is pressing that the fight's not over is just pure insanity. If all you had to go by was what each guy looked like after the fight then obviously Bisping lost huge. Props to him for executing his game plan to (near-)perfection and inarguably winning three rounds (and he was totally winning R3 until THAT KNEE). he absolutley earned his title shot and then went the extra step and took the strap. what a sharp incline his career trajectory took in 2016. i'll be damned if Michael Bisping hasn't earned my respect, and then some.
  6. thankfully, this is the last UFC card that i won't be able to watch live due to other summertime commitments. i always make it a point to watch them Sundays, with as few spoilers as possible, but it still isn't the same. thoughts: Glad to hear Wilson Reis echoing my thoughts about going from co-main title fight to prelim opener. that said, he won handily. Of course, i don't see Mighty Mouse having much of an issue with him when that fight materializes. the Krylov/Herman fight ended spectacularly and was a good fight up until then too. Herman put it quite a bit of effort and for a brief second i thought he might pull off an upset. Serrano was doing some weird shit. Benoit clearly won the fight, but Serrano attempting axe kicks and somersault takedowns was nuts. whoever said that was a Fight Pass-level fight was right on. Ellenburger with the HUGE upset over Matt Brown. holy mother of god, i did not see that coming, and it makes me think hope that Jake has his shit together again and can start earning some wins again. He used to be an "always dangerous" opponent, but the last couple years it's seemed he's more of an easy win. Good on him. nice work to Karolina. her first UFC fight impressed me and she has absolutely earned a title shot against Joanna. can't wait to see that one. Lawler/Woodley. ugh. great win for Woodley, although this it the exact outcome that nobody at all hoped for. edit: just saw the post-fight bonuses. Krylov got fucking robbed.
  7. Moraes is a bright spot in WSOF and has made it crystal clear that he wants to go to the UFC. Looking forward to see what he can do with the top guys.
  8. i find it comical that Wilson Reis goes from (co-?)main eventing, to opening fight on the televised prelims. didn't even make the PPV portion. i mean, i understand why, but it's just an odd occurance.
  9. i was hoping the "additional Barbara Gordon content" they were adding was some variation of the Batgirl Special issue that came out around the same time as the Killing Joke. alas, the above news is the worst possible thing they could've done, and makes me do a 180 in my support of this movie. hoping the Killling Joke portion of the story is good on its own and not ruined by the terrible choices which happen in the first half of the film. edit: just watched the film. the Killing Joke part is a pretty good adaptation. not without its faults, but enjoyable. the other part starts off fine but just crashes when the controversial part happens. Like, it kills the pacing and the mood and everything. Not a fan.
  10. damn, each participant being a champion somewhere should be played up in the marketing. TUF 24: Gold Rush! would also make sense for the winner to get a title shot. doubly so because Mighty Mouse has cleaned out his division pretty handily. edit: i see that is already expected.
  11. well it's releasing on iTunes after that i believe. and there's always YouTube
  12. Rob Zombie and Korn was my first concert, in 1999. went for Korn, Rob Zombie was a bonus. by the end of the show, Rob Zombie was amazing and Korn was just ok. Just saw Rob Zombie like 2 months ago and he is still awesome.
  13. so, why did nobody tell me that something this awesome was happening:
  14. all i've read is "majority interest" also, but that both Fertittas and Dana White are keeping small portions. to me it feels like it's in that 60-70% range, although i have no facts to back that up.
  15. yeah, i saw that earlier post. it was yellow on my tv, so it was a yellow mat. if it was gold in person, that's fine, but it sure didn't translate to me that way.
  16. forgot to mention. i hated the yellow ring apron. i know it was a special occasion for ufc 200, but i really hope we don't see it again
  17. watched this card today after being out of town all weekend. thoughts: Gomi, it is time to ride off into the sunset. you were a Pride legend but that was 10 years ago. it is time for Mousasi to be in title talks. give him a top 5 guy! Joe Lauzon vs Diego Sanchez. i expected a long fight. loved J-Lau's line about sacrificing his face to get a win. turns out, he didn't have to, as Diego just crumbled. Sage Northcutt showed off plenty of holes in his game but was able to overcome and get a win. it is beyond time for him to join a real MMA gym and develop into the fighter he has the potential to be. Dillashaw looked great and earned another crack at Cruz's BW title belt. Gastelum looked as good as i've ever seen him. Johny looked......not very good. he needs a change. i don't think he'd do so hot at MW, so i don't know what, but this WW stint has seen better days. awesome fight between Cat and Pena. i really thought Cat would smash her, but that surely didn't happen. i wonder if the Rousey loss is still effecting her? she's on the older side for fighters, so she's running out of time to put a string together. Cain gonna Cain. he's just a bear that mauls any and everybody. i had Aldo winning over Edgar 48-47, but there wasn't a whole lot of things going on there. Edgar pressed the action the entire time, so i wouldn't discourage anyone who scored it that way. I actually wondered out loud if Joe Rogan was watching the same fight, since he was sure Aldo had it in the bag. Aldo has always been a favorite of mine, but man do i wish he was as dynamic as he used to be. since joining the UFC, he's only finished 2 of 8 fights. compare that to his WEC run, where only one fight in 7 went the distance. DC suffocating Anderson Silva for 15 minutes was terrible, but all of the enjoyment i got out of it was the fans booing DC for everything. He always looks so perplexed that he gets booed that it makes me laugh. when he finally embraces his inner heel, that will be a great time to watch. Lesnar pulling out a win over Hunt made my night. he was able to use his reach, avoid the big punches, and get the much-needed takedowns. i was engrossed the entire time, even tho Lesnar's striking is garbage. What a spectacle. Miesha Tate losing her title to Amanda Nunes was disappointing. Tate is my favorite female fighter. i didn't watch the weigh-ins, so didn't know anything about her issues. i remarked during the walk out that she looked pretty shook up. The first couple punches Tate threw were slow and atrocious. once Nunes landed the first two shots i knew it was only a matter of time. overall a fun if slow-paced card. Especially since it looked just killer on paper. such is life.
  18. finally got to watch the main card of this event. damn! what an event. look forward to seeing Muhammad again, dude took a beating but just wouldn't stop. Lewis/Nelson was something all right. thought for sure Nelson won with takedowns, but was pleasantly surprised to see that wasn't the case. RDA/Alvarez knocked ME for a loop. always respected Alvarez, but his UFC career hasn't looked the best so i didn't give him much chance here. well, he certainly showed me. and in dramatic fashion, too. awesome fight and awesome win.
  19. only watched the title fight and the Brooks-Pearson match. i had Brooks winning the fight, but not a particularly great fight to begin a UFC run with. Joanna Champion was just fantastic. i was worried early on, but once she took over, she never let off. Just a dominating final three rounds.
  20. i'm not really sure. we've got 2 theaters in town, one locally owned and the other an AMC (which seems to be where the Killing Joke screenings are taking place). i'm honestly not that worried about it, a friend mentioned it and i got excited, only to be let down after checking the website. the movie comes out on video like a week later, so i can hold off the extra 7 days.
  21. i was living in a much smaller town when Mask of the Phantasm came out, and thus, never got to see that one in theater either. amazing movie tho, in my top 2 for Batman films. maybe a theatrical animated Batman just isn't in the cards for me.
  22. not sure if this belongs here or not, but Batman: The Killing Joke is getting a theatrical release (they just added over 300 more screens). Unfortunately, the nearest one is over a 2 hour drive away. guess i'll be waiting for dvd.
  23. so, on the off chance the "B" sample test comes back clean, does Jones get his fight back? if so, that's a hell of a lot of added unnecessary stress. if not, then he just lost out on a multi-million dollar payday for nothing. lose/lose situation.
