  1. i rewatched that era just a couple years ago. there was a significant improvement when Booker T becomes champ. there's still plenty that's awful, but the whole vibe is just a lot better.
  2. re: Janela, he was one of the first "no name indie" guys that i was curious about and interested to see. well, 6 months in, and what we've seen has been very mediocre and forgettable. i think it's due to physique, lack of identifiable character, lack of psychology, and sloppy ringwork. i know that all sounds like a giant insult, but ALL of those things are able to be improved and/or learned. i sincerely hope Joey can find a way to make some much needed adjustments, because there's a good character in there and i would love to see what the end result is.
  3. can somebody let the Maryland State Athletic Commission that their match was Unsanctioned. therefore, AEW can't be held responsible for what happened. It's like they didn't watch the show at all.....
  4. i hope that Vince is shopping WWE around but insists on Steph keeping her role, Dixie Carter style.
  5. i second all of these. the two Adam West movies (Return of the Caped Crusaders, Batman vs Two-Face) are both excellent. As is Batman vs TMNT.
  6. had to Google him. looks like a good start. Now we just need a bowling mummy
  7. which makes me ponder why individual sports don't include this kind of thing more often. Why don't pro bowlers have OTT gimmicks?
  8. i'm just here to lament that we never got to see Owen Hart vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage. they faced off once in a tag team match (Savage/Bret Hart vs Owen/Adam Bomb) in Japan, and possibly crossed paths in some battle royals, but that's it. damn shame.
  9. plus, Cruz doesn't believe in ring rust.
  10. Esparza vs Waterson is a matchup that should've happened years ago, but i'm excited to see it now.
  11. i've never understood this complaint. the whole of television is built on cameras being where they shouldn't be. why are there multiple cameras in Jerry Seinfeld's apartment? the whole show should just be his stand up.
  12. i can't handle all this anti-batman Forever rhetoric. it is my favorite live action Bat flick from the '89 series. Val Kilmer wasn't perfect but did an acceptable job. Chris O'Donnell as Robin was better than that character was written. Tommy Lee Jones was great as 2Face. i think Jim Carrey sets the tone of the flick. if you're not on board with what he does here, you won't like the flick. me, i loved taking it back to a zanier attitude. my favorite exchange in the movie: Robin: "Holy rusted metal, Batman!" Batman: "What?" Robin: "This metal. It's rusty. and full of holes".
  13. agreed. that southern drawl really shone through but you could hear her fighting it. it was good to see the NWA get back to some semblance of a normal schedule. sad to see the next episode isn't going to air until May.
  14. i didn't even know this was a thing until last week. i watched it ASAP and thoroughly loved it. i can understand your voice acting complaint and i don't disagree, but it never bothered me. x2 on the violence and gore. my wife left the room because it was too much for her. if you are a MK fan you will love this.
  15. i like sitting around my house
  16. the nWo theme, with its blatant stolen Jimi Hendrix riff, is my all-time fave.
  17. it'd be cool to put on 176 now as some sort of throwback show. i don't know how you pull that off in MMA without it being all past their prime dudes, but it would make it stand out
  18. to be fair, i was wondering about that last night.
  19. the WWE HoF didn't exist (in its current form) until 2004. WCW didn't have a *real* HoF. Why would you think either Goldberg OR La Parka would be included?
  20. seconded. they've already sat on it for a year or more, on top of however long Fox held onto it for.... genius! i'd watch this in a heartbeat
  21. just take the actual WM4 tournament bracket and book it as a shoot.
  22. well fuck. i was actually beginning to think Dana was gonna pull this off
  23. no Fite exclusive stuff this week was a bummer. they even cut during commercial breaks, which they haven't done previously. Jericho on commentary was GOLD all night. the aforementioned fork line was my highlight. Jake promo was an excellent start. Murderhawk squash was perfection. Shida/Brit match was ok. it was quite good by the end, but the first half would've been better at 1.5x speed. Matt Hardy promo was good enough. coincidence that last week someone here brought up the Matt Hardy dumpster fire thread and this week he makes a reference? Brodie Lee squash was great. i was surprised to see the Dark Order tag team was 4-0 or 5-0 and the #1 contenders. if they keep doing this vignettes, i would like to see more with Brodie, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, and the recruiter dude. everything feels very disconnected but i'm still interested enough to see where it goes. main event was good. best Spears has looked in AEW in ages
  24. the fight is also for the Interim Lightweight Title. you know, the belt that Ferguson won over 2 years ago but never got a unification match and then got stripped of? the rest of this whole situation is batshit insane. i can barely believe this is real life. a private island? not telling the fighters where the location is? fights every week? (in my neck of the woods, all gyms are closed. i can't imagine these guys are getting the best training and practice available)
  25. that's cool, but i wish they would show the ill-fated NWA Showcase series that lasted like 10 episodes back in 2008. Dave Marquez owns that footage and it's largely unavailable elsewhere.
