Fun first episode, though I thought Tegan Nox looked pretty bad throughout her match. I was unfamiliar with her before this, found out later she was one of the hyped entrants, and could not see why. Can someone explain what those uppercuts were actually supposed to be? I think Lane is going to be really good. She clearly has a lot of cool ideas and I liked her approach. I'm behind on my Impact viewing, but Tessa Blanchard looked so killer in her match against Rayne. She's been my favorite thing on these shows, and Rayne was made into a super sympathetic babyface in this match just from that beating she took. Tessa carries herself really well and looks like she lays it in.

There are people who think the WrestleWar '91 WarGames was a bad match? ? My worst purchase was Royal Rumble '99, in high school. What a lousy show. It was a group purchase for this guy Dave's birthday, but his mom didn't realize you needed a cable box to order a PPV. So we all got over there and...no PPV. So his poor mom had to scramble, and we eventually got to see a replay or something....and after all that waiting (and this guy was someone none of us really knew that well and who didn't have many friends, but we all wanted to see the Rumble), we got *that* show. And the guy actually started crying and apologizing for how bad the show was, after someone said "Dave, you ruined the Royal Rumble." It wasn't a great day.

Quite a week this week, with a 1978 Tenryu/Buddy Rose match (no lumps on Tenryu!) and Hijo del Santo/Eddy Guerrero vs. Blue Panther/Negro Casas from 1987. Santo gives a performance of a lifetime of a lifetime of performances (I think that reads...). They all look great. Watched the show last night after getting home, finished writing it up today. Overall, didn't really like the show, thought early performances were lazy but thought they turned it around in the final 3. Juice/Jay was my favorite of the night, though I enjoyed Cody/Omega more than I thought I would. Also liked the loud Bay Area reaction Cobb got. I hope for the best for Hiromu, and if he's able to come back it might force him to tone things down. Helms was employed by WWE for nearly the entire decade, and was given a gimmick that sold a ton of merchandise to kids. Helms got the keys to Fort Knox compared to what a WCW title would have got him.

It's a very good point that Sabre has never been presented as someone who can kick out of a lot of big moves, and he really didn't get caught with a ton before the rainmakers and that piledriver on his damn head.

I love hearing people say that I got them to watch Berzerker matches! I had so much fun with that, and still have a couple more of his AJPW and all of his WCW matches left to do. The new one might not be AS fun as the Berzerker one, but it's someone who doesn't get written about a ton. Matt up above may have figured it out... It is not Max Moon. Or Damien Demento. Or Chris Walker.

I'm also - similar to last year's Berzerker C&A - going to do another C&A for a guy who had a relatively short WWF term.

I did not know this until this post. Last year I started getting adult diaper ads in my margins. Every single day, every single site, men's adult diapers, women's adult diapers, almost exclusively ads for adult diapers. Especially a new kind called "Silhouettes", because they fit so comfortably under your clothing! Over a month of my margins being filled with adult diaper ads. And then one day my Pissed Jeans record - the one I pre-ordered over a month earlier - arrived in the mail, and I realized that google had taken my searches for Pissed Jeans to mean that I had a problem regular pissing my pants. As if I had googled "Dear google, how can I prevent constantly soaking my dungarees in piss?" And can we just cut to you telling me how many members of Protomartyr have been Ants?

No doubt as shocked as I was a few years ago when I got a package from Relapse that had an Ultramantis Black album in it.

We wrote up more of WM Weekend, Evolve 103 and the WWN Supershow. Evolve 103 had my favorite Jaka performance, and I really like Jaka. The Supershow had those two bonkers good matches, with Riddle/Ospreay and Sabre/Sawa being so much better than I expected. This weekend is just the gift that keeps on giving. I would have been so burned out if I had been there live. Totally over the moon for this show. Phil and I wrote it up and it's honestly one of my favorite wrestling shows I've ever seen. Not 2018 wrestling, but matches that haven't been seen until 2018. Pete uploaded a couple Rip Rogers matches from a 1990 tour of AJPW, singles matches against Kobashi and Haruka Eigen. Rogers comes off like a guy who should have been on tours for the rest of the decade. Two totally different matches, really shows a great range.
