  1. I agree, I think Steph would be the way to go. It wouldn't have to be competitive, it could just be laid out like all of Vince's matches where he gets his ass kicked then gets a control segment because of interference. Steph gets her arm taken and taps in 15 minutes, including entrances.
  2. I had heard he put all of his money from the movies into starting his own business and moved to some remote mountain and can't be bothered. It's admirable when the alternative was hustling at cons all over the country between phone calls from Kevin.
  3. I listened to an interview with Adam Brody about Justice League Mortal years after the production fell apart and he was still disappointed that he didn't get to play Barry. He seemed to really love the screenplay.
  4. Clerks 3 died because Jeff Anderson didn't want to do it. Another Jay and Bob movie felt inevitable after that because they're the only characters Smith owns and he knows Mewes is game. I'm under the impression that it'll be a ton of references to the other movies and cameos that'll distract from how weak the screenplay is. I enjoyed his recent horror movies a lot, but Yoga Hosers was largely a comedy and it seemed like he took one pass at writing it and just shot what he had. Incidentally since the thread is bumped, here's a Vulture write-up from this week about him that's really good. http://www.vulture.com/2017/09/kevin-smith-red-state.html
  5. Audience of One Productions?
  6. Pssh, "Once in a Lifetime." Smdh.
  7. That's just like that time Vince needed to be written off of tv for a hip surgery.
  8. Stallone is probably directing and writing Creed 2, and the way he's been desperately pushing it on instagram it's almost like he's having trouble getting it financed. I have a feeling he doesn't have a handle on why Creed worked so well and it's going to be more on the level of quality of the Expendables movies. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder about the level of input he had on the first one and he didn't even thank Coogler during his Golden Globes acceptance speech.
  9. It's actually closer to 20 divorces. There were some shotgun weddings and annulments in New Zealand and Tokyo, plus the time he married Jack Veneno to avoid a riot in the Dominican Republic.
  10. 97 was the year I got sucked in to Raw and Nitro. A lot of the things already mentioned got me into it, but one that's not mentioned as often are the JR sit-down interviews they were doing that year. The Foley one specifically really drew me in, and the payoff of Dude Love coming to life shortly after was huge. The Jarrett interviews when he returned from WCW made me think he was a huge star, which was...not the case.
  11. For some reason when I watched the promo the first time I kept hearing "golden shuffle" instead of "golden shovel" and I was mystified. Anyway, it was very reminiscent of the original incarnation of NXT where they'd have a guy try to get over in a promo while Cole or one of the pros would interrupt them and push them around. I guess that's a fine way for Vince to feel out a new project, but maybe do it before he main events Wrestlemania three times. For Cena it was a full circle career moment because it was essentially
  12. That indie show in Memphis with Hogan vs Big Show only drew 2,200. They were handicapped by WWE pulling Lawler and a few others, but it was still a show built around Hulk Hogan shortly after he'd last been on WWE television and at the height of Hogan Knows Best.
  13. Rusev's not even released yet and I'm picturing him facing Dalton Castle or somebody for the NXT title at a Takeover in two years.
  14. That definitely looks like it's relying on the charm of the actors to carry a hackneyed concept, but it's Linklater so I might check it out.
  15. The Miz is definitely the modern Dibiase in that regard. Unfortunately for both guys, this was their peak.
  16. He's referred to as Jack Napier a couple of times in BTAS and in a comic here or there. I think they have to cut a check to Nicholson anytime they use the name, which is why it's probably seldom used. I'm getting an uneasy Hannibal Rising vibe from this.
  17. Lewis donated his print of it to the Library of Congress a few years ago on the condition it wasn't screened until 2024. I don't know what they would even do with it at that point, regardless of rights issues.
  18. I only saw the main, which sounds like a blessing. I really liked how it had most of the tropes of the multi-man matches but carried them out in really audacious, spectacular ways. It also helped that it involved four guys with well defined characters who can seriously go. Those were some tough and dangerous spots, and they all made it look effortless.
  19. It was actually worse than that. Mauro called it a tribute to Frye/Takayama, like Itami and Black made a conscious decision to beat the fuck out of each other in a certain manner as an homage.
  20. There's still the same argument that working on a brand with constant touring and weekly TV is different than NXT. None of the main roster callups look as good as they did on Takeovers. There's a lot of folks that were Brooklyn's darlings two years ago that are going to have relatively ho-hum matches tonight.
  21. Neville no-selling being on camera in the crowd for 90 seconds straight was really something. I kept waiting for him to at least acknowledge that the camera was a foot away from him. A+ petulant heel stewing.
  22. I haven't kept up with NXT for most of the year so I went in to this cold. Great show. Gargano is a hell of a technician and great face working from underneath. The tag match didn't overstay its welcome and had fun spots. I thought the layout of Black/Itami didn't do them any favors. Should have been a shorter sprint. Black looked like he'll do well, but it's tough watching Itami struggle in this spot. Askua and Ember had a really good match with probably my favorite finishing stretch this year. I don't know where you go with either party from here though. Main was pretty good. Drew looks fantastic. There's no reason he shouldn't be on top of Raw or Smackdown by this time next year or sooner. But that's just me, and the crowd was not into him, so who knows. I guess Roode gets called up, but I don't know if he stands out on either main show with the rosters so stacked right now. I'm not familiar with any of the ROH guys, but there seems to be a lot of excitement about them. This definitely made me want to get back into the weekly TV.
  23. I don't know if it'll help Bryan with his cognitive issues, but I've heard sleeping in those oxygen tents gives you sexual powers.
