  1. So Munoz hasn't connected on a punch in his last two fights right? He never touched Weidman either.
  2. I Saw the Devil is one of the best movies I've watched on Netflix ever. I like a movie I can't see coming, and I honestly could not see any of the surprises or revelations coming, even though they almost always made sense. I was blown away by the performances as well, as Storm Shadow and Oldboy swapped alignments way better than anyone could have foreseen. Choi Min-Sik as the killer was particularly loathsome every minute and every second he's on the screen. and Byung-Hun Lee has such starpower and radiated such energy he needs to be in way better movies than GI Joe. I cannot recommend this movie enough. Just an incredible film that makes me shiver to think about.
  3. Holy fucking shit. Showgirls. I haven't watched this since I was a teen lying on my sister's living room floor while my dad turned this on and insisted on watching it all the way through even though I was trying to sleep. Christmas vacation memories! My wife and I are debating as to whether this is intentionally bad or not. She says yes. I say no. It's hard to tell. I can't believe that they'd intentionally make it this bad. There's some serious badness all around. I'd rather think this was the result of genuine Hollywood excess out of control than someone's contrived commentary on the state of the movies.
  4. I will only make this prediction: The Lakers will NOT make the playoffs.
  5. Gary Kubiak said this today: Matt Schaub is my starting quarterback. This season is a dumpster fire. Also, Sam Montgomery said that he got released because he just walked into a bathroom where Willie Jefferson and Cierre Wood were smoking a cigar. Because when you want to smoke a cigar, you go with a friend and smoke it in a bathroom.
  6. Fuck Bud Adams. I thought he died in 1994.
  7. Cain's style may be a bit underwhelming to watch, but he's no Clay Guida. Those little punches in the clinch do a ton of damage. Look at JDS's face. Clay Guidance couldn't punch his way out if a paper bag. I think Cain's negative charisma is his biggest flaw.
  8. Keenum's rookie debut was way better than anyone could have expected. Too bad the Texans employ a hologram for a right tackle.
  9. It just occurred to me that Bum Phillips was technically a part of the Tennessee Titans organization. FUCK THAT.
  10. Case Keenum era, here we come! Win one for Bum!
  11. Thoughts from the live show: Crowd was 90% Velasquez. Lots of Mexican flags, chants of "Si Se Puede!" But even (an essentially) hometown crowd started booing him for his push him against the fence, two-inch punches and knees to the leg strategy. In the first two rounds, even though Cain was volume punching and kneeing, every time JDS hit something it looked like it hurt Cain, and not vice versa. Of course, everything changed when Cain knocked him down. Then it turned into survival and desperation haymakers. No idea what the doctors were looking at when they were looking at JDS. One eye was completely closed, and the other was being bled into. How Dos Santos survived past the third I have no idea. Cain Velasquez is the lovechild of Tim Sylvia and Nick Diaz. Not sure if that's a good thing. Cormier and Velasquez have pretty much the exact same game. It's not terribly exciting, but it's effective. Roy Nelson has a hell of a chin. Melendez/Sanchez was great. Live, I couldn't tell that in those rock'em sock'em exchanges that Diego wasn't hitting anything, but that's why we go to fights. We want to see them trade bombs. Crowd really, really wanted to support Gilbert, but the way the fight was, they turned in the 2nd for Diego. Diego's uppercut in the third brought the entire house to their feet, and then his subsequent submission attempts. Was insane to watch live. I don't think I've ever seen a better fight in my life. Crowd really wanted Diego to win, but it was the right decision -- except for whatever judge gave Gil the third round. WTF? Gonzaga's KO was awesome, but not nearly as awesome as Dodson making that guy do a flair flop. The thing about Dodson -- even when the camera's not on him, he was doing that dance the whole damn night. We got there a little late (Yay Houston traffic and parking!) and so we only saw the end of the Kaufmann fight, so I can't really comment other than Kaufmann pretty clearly won that last round. And fuck CB Dollaway. What the hell was with those eye pokes? We all wanted Boetsch to annihilate him after the second one. Fantastic night of fights. We had a blast. Toyota Center is one of the nicest venues (basketball arena) I've been to. Parking sucks, but that's Houston.
  12. I was there live. It was incredible. Sanchez-Melendez fight of the year.
  13. Totally gutted. Bum is the most beloved coach to ever coach in Houston. More than any Oiler or Texan coach, more than any coach in any sport. Yes, even more than Rudy T, and he won two championships with the Rockets. He was so quintessentially a Houstonian and a Texan, there really is no comparison. People are still pissed that Bud Adams fired him. Here's to hoping it motivates the Texans to reclaim this season.
  14. This is probably insulting to every single person on this list in one way or another. Jesus that's insulting. Yeah, they're like that Magic team, except they are better in every single way to that Magic team. Hell, Dwight isn't even the best player on his own team this time around.
  15. Canaan is headed to the D-League. Rockets like to send their rookies there anyway; also, he's not getting any playing time barring an injury to Lin or Beverley. Harden can play PG if necessary, so it's likely a three guard rotation between Lin/Bev/Beard. Brooks may or may not make the team; while he can score in a hurry off the bench, he is an absolute defensive liability. If Canaan can show some instant offense and not crater too horrifically on defense, he'll probably take Brooks's spot on the team. And then spend the season down in the D-League.
  16. That's CASE Keenum. Most prolific passer in NCAA history. Graduate of the University of Houston. Looked great in preseason. Unlike Schaub, he can move and throw the deep ball. Also, unlike Schaub, seems to be aware of DeAndre Hopkins's existence.Yates is essentially Schaub-lite; there's no real upside to starting him. We know what he got: a slightly more mobile Schaub.Thank you Durga.
  17. Matt Schaub injury not severe, intends to start v. Chiefs. When does the Case Keenum era start? Let's just skip the TJ era. Another pick six my god.
  18. Watched the Rockets v. Pacers in Taipei. Rockets chemistry with Dwight already seems awesome. Rockets still play extremely uptempo and fly to the basket. Ironically, they play pretty much the same as they did with Asik in the middle. Only with a better Asik. And Dwight can actually get points on the post up. Still think the Rockets are top 3 in the west.
  19. I thought Texans(not the team) were douchebags in general. . . . Let's not get racist.
  20. Texans fans show up at Schaub's house, cheer when he gets injured, and throw ice at his head while he's on the trainer's table trying to get in. And then leave in the 3rd quarter. When did Houston turn into Philly? And then Yates throws that pick 6. FML. Put in Keenum. Fire Kubiak.
  21. I guess I'm about 50 minutes away from Matt Schaub's last start. One can only hope.
  22. I could see Pahlhares working for the mob. When people don't pay up, they get the heel hook.
  23. After this season, Matt Schaub will have received all of his guaranteed money. If they cut him, they just have the rest of his pro-rated bonus to pay out, which comes out to $7M or thereabouts. I don't remember my cap shenanigans that well; can't they split that out over a few years? If so, it makes it pretty negligible.
