All Is Lost. Robert Redford. The sea. No dialogue. No other actors. A goddamn masterpiece. Beautifully shot, a technical marvel. And Redford is the man. Wow.

I finally got through Tyrant. If they kill off Barry and his family, and its all about Jamal doing his thing and killing anyone who fucks with him with his bare hands, it'll finally be a watchable show.

Wait what The Bridge has been great this season. The first few episodes were all over the place but it came into focus a few episodes ago and it's firing on all cylinders. The Bridge has been awesome this season! They can't cancel it! I forbid it!

So, my wife was pretty down about some test at school, so I wanted to find her some music that would make her feel like a bad ass and cheer her up. This is what I settled on: That works.

That last episode of the Strain was TERRIBLE. Why do we care about his ex-wife? Why do I keep watching?

Just had an unofficial reunion with my friends I worked with at the Daily Texan at UT back in the day. On a whim, I posted on Facebook that I wasn't excited for my high school reunion - I'd rather have a DT reunion. People came out of the woodwork unexpectedly and it became a reality last night. Hadn't seen the crew in 15 years. It was fantastic. So bizarre how everyone changed, but we're all the same, and it was heartening to see how successful we've all been. It was a great night.

I hate that Clowney got hurt. My dream of the Texans playing "We don't have a QB, you don't get to have a QB!" will have to wait 4-6 weeks. I think JJ Watt is too nice to injure a QB every week (although RGIII was grabbing his knee every time Watt laid his hands on him). This week was supposed to be revenge on Schaub week. I guess we'll just take it out on David Carr's little brother and see if we can break him just like the Texans broke David.

So, is Lifeforce (1985) one of the most batshit insane high budget (for its time) of all time? I loved every minute. How is that not getting remade?

Honestly, I think Ray Rice should probably sit a year, then get reinstated. I think it's a bit ridiculous that we're talking about him never working again. There's a lot more to people than the worst thing they ever did. Let him sit this year, lose whatever millions he would've earned, and then let him come back. Obviously, if there's any more incidents, he should be punished appropriately. But if he's clean, let him work. RBs have such a short shelf life anyway. Goodell needs to go. He's always been wildly inconsistent with his arbitrary punishments, and the cover up is always worse than the crime. His baldface lies about not seeing the tape are so pathetic, there's no way for him to be credible on any issue ever again. Get a new figurehead for the league, and give some faceless bureaucrat to be the punishment czar.

Just watched Lifeforce (1985). That one is ripe for a remake -- it's mythology is confusing but surprisingly solid. On the other hand, I don't think you're going to top Mathilda May. The tone of the film is so weird -- I don't know how to describe it. But it is definitely unsettling. Also -- I can't believe that came out in 1985. It looks so late 70s.
