    OSCARS 2015

Big Hero 6? Really? Princess Kaguya was gorgeous and BH6 wasn't even as fun as How To Train Your Dragon 2 James
  2. I'm surprised, given they still have ties to Noriyo Tateno that don't induct the JBA or Bukk James
  3. Say what the hell happened to Hailey Hatred, she just up and dropped off the face of the earth it seems James
  4. and so ends Ressha Sentai ToQger, a show that at times was utterly silly but once they silliness vanished well ToQger might be the best Sentai since Shinkenger. No joke, those last 10 episodes were just intense but fun as hell to watch. The last episode is open ended enough for a sequel movie/V-Cinema to be done to wrap loose ends. Will that happen? Probably not but the way they had Emperor Zett lose to Rainbow ToQ1... well Bandai/Toei would be stupid not to follow up this story. So now that ToQger is done we are back to ninjas next week with the debut of Shuriken Sentai Ninninger. I'm already psyched for this show becasue the last 2 ninja themed Sentai were 2 of my favorite! Hames
  5. I'd very much like a version for my iPhone James
  6. Nobuhiko Takada is going to be playing Black Shogun in the next Super Hero Taisen movie! His time as Generalissimo was obviously his form of method acting! Kamen Rider 3 v. Black Shogun better be all UEFi style! James
  7. Finished "Cold Days" so I'm only a book and the short story collection behind on The Dresden Files. Butcher isn't trying to be subtle anymore, he's straight up setting up a big showdown between the White Council and The Black Council with the Outsiders playing a more overt role. I mean at this point if Outsiders aren't directly involved with the Black Council I'll be genuinely shocked. I mean this all leading to a War Ganes scenario in my head. Also Butcher pulled a really good swerve at the end of Cold Days. Queen Mab is one masterful manipulator of events
  8. All this tlk and no one has menrioned Sid? I want the master and ruler of the world in the HOF
  9. I picked up one of the Archie 1000 digests 2 ears ago ad it was everything i expected ut to be i.e. not great but not awful. Pretty much right there in the middle of all comics
  10. HnK2 just feels like Buronson saying fuckit and let Tetsuo Hara take over the plotting. Its a shame Hara never really had a major hit after HnK. His follow up CYBER BLUE was basically taking Kenshiro giving him a shotgun and changing his catchphrase to "Fuck off asshole!"

  12. and I'm now caught to Dresden as far as Changes. That book was crazy, as all the threads that had been building since book3 finally came to a head. The war with the Red Court closed out in a novel way, closure on Harry and Susan one helluva cavalry saves the day moment at the end. I mean after how Turn Coat made me sad that one of the biggest dicks in the series bit it, Changes had to be even more crzy in scope! James
  13. I think the thing about the Lee/Kirby FF run was that they relied on certain recurring villains alot more than modern Marvel does. Doctor Doom would always be i nthe mix it seems and Namor too. Modern Marvel keeps Doom in reserve (writers always try to tell their own epic Doom tale at some point and it has led to inconsistent versions of the character). I love Kirby FF is just so exciting and fun James
  14. Liger patterned the move off of Rei's ougi. Liger is a huge HnK fan James
  15. Edward Hermann has passed I pretty much loved him in everything I ever saw him in. He always gave off that air of class. James
  16. The movie can be skipped, it covers everything up to the first Raoh fight yet leaves out Toki for some reason. Its because of the movie that FOTNS/HnK was so maligned by western anime fans for so long. They thought all the show was about was a dude that made people blow up by punching them, not realizing there was a deper story with so many underlying themes. Kenshiro is basically the closest to anime version of Elric and its kinda awesome. So what were your favorite parts from Hokuto No Ken before part 2? Picking my favorite Hokuto No Ken fights is always a tough for me. I love Rei/Juda so much and Toki/Raoh is one of those great fights that brings out all the backstory. Buronson and Tetsuo Hara were huge wrestling fans, Hara even went on to do the character designs for Saturday Night Slam Masters. Of coure, in a turn about is fair play way, if not for HnK Liger never would have invented the Shooting Star Press. James
  17. When it comes to FOTNS songs "Ai Wo Torimodose" (You Wa Shock) is the standard bearer. I love "Tough Boy" though, just... of the three opening songs it is the 3rd best. The opening that uses "Silent Survivor" though uses that great shot of Ken walking past the faces of all the dead Nanto masters (and Ryuga),. The first time I watched it I sat there in awe of how badass it looked. James
  18. One last note on FLIK's FOTNS/HnK viewing... Raoh's final quote is the bst final quote an antagonist ha in all of manga/anime! James
  19. I've gone through everything (save for Fool's Moon) upto to Dead Beat (which I started on Saturday). The fallout from Death Masks and Blood Rites are amazing. I like that Drseden doesn't know for sure that Raith is cursed but kind of pieces it together to use to hi own advantage. Thomas becomes a very sympathetic character in Blood Rites and I was legit upset with what happned i nthe end to Shiro in Death Masks. James
  20. Man you think that's bad? You'll be sorely tempted throw a shoe at your TV with some of the stuff in HnK2 James
  21. Downed books 3 & 4 or Dresden Files (Grave Peril and Summer Knight). I'm starting to dig the world even more now. Harry Dresden is a character I can get behind. I really like the supporting cast in these books and especially The Knights of The Cross. Just really good reads. Butcher can be a little predictable interms of setting up his two-tiered plot format for the books but they always converge and make for good reading. I hear things really pick-up in Dead Beat. James
  22. Translation: You've just gotten to/finished the Juda/Mamiya/Rei Arc in FOTNS. Juda/Rei is probably one of the best done fights in the whole series and Rei coming off jobbing to Raoh means he has t oget a big win against Juda. You're heading into the big push with Ken and Ryuga before the epic push for the Ken/Raoh rematch. You've got like 30 episodes of FOTNS 1 to go and then its on to FOTNS 2. If you think how Buronson handles WTF ideas in part 1 is weird, part w2 ill have saying "AW FOR FUCK SAKE! REALLY?!?" James
  23. Well remember that Howard had a recurring thing about the "Celts" throughout the timeline of his works. They are present in Atlantis during Kull, again they are in The Hyborean age and by the time we get to Bran Mak Morn and the Romans he had just taken the 2 previous versions of the Celts and basically said "forget history, the true Celts have been here since the Kull the Conqueror and now his descendant leads them to their own doom despite his better intentions" The Bran Mak Morn collection from a few years back had the excerpt from a paly Howard was wrting about the last King of The Celts and I ha these grand visions of this most epic stage play ever, with blood flowing on the stage like the Hamlet duel from Addams Family Values. James
  24. Of Moorcock I love Elric for the cheap disposable fantasy it is but Von Bek is my favorite. He has combined the 2 with mixed results. Robert E. Howard remains my favorite and I agree with OSJ, Solomon Kane is amazing. "Solomon Kane's Homecoming" is an amazing poem about what happens to those left t home when the hero goes out on his merry way to adventure. I also recommend "The Sword Woman" and El Borak, 2 other fun REH creations but they are more "Historical Fiction" than Fantasy. Bran Mak Morn doesn't get enough love, it might be Howard's most tragic fantasy character as it is about a King who knows the people he leads and is trying to elevate, are doomed to extinction. I'm interested right now in reading some of the Chinese Wu Xia books, if there are any in English, because those are supposed to be great fun, fantasy novels. James
  25. Taue's Nodowa is aces because it looks real and not some overdone theatric. The Nodowa is Taue's Sumo background to show height and weight plus leverage equl real James
