TheVileOne Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I like Rothwell to win this one. It's crazy how good he's gotten.

First off, it's crazy how folks were so enamored five or so years ago about how someone like Roy Nelson could lose weight and become a better fighter. When you look at Nelson as a fighter, his weight is not really a factor as to why he succeeds or fails. The fact that he eventually relied so much on one big punch and his chin over his grappling skills that it became a detriment is what Nelson is as a fighter. If anything, a well rounded fighter like Ben Rothwell becoming fit is more likely to succeed in the heavyweight division. With the circumstances now where everyone is being tested hard, your going to have less fighters looking like absolute destroyers. That benefits someone like Rothwell who was never this one hitter quitter type heavyweight. As a result of that above circumstance, the heavyweight division is going to dip and meet Rothwell's ascent somewhere in the middle. When the division is not replete with other fighters on the rise, fighters like Rothwell are going to prosper. He's not going to win every fight, but he is going to win enough fights to stick around especially when the other fighters are old and not what they use to be. Hopefully, the Ngannou vs. Blaydes fight does produce someone who can go on a run. The future of heavyweight is so wide open.
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 The new ATT gym looks pretty badass. Also, Kyoji Horiguchi seems like the most chill dude ever.
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 I am really interested to see what Dalby can do at welterweight. He's a very intriguing prospect if he can take care of Cummings as expected.

Elsalvajeloco Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Jared Cannonier just killed a man. 1
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Time to take the training wheels off Taisumov and get him on Fox and the other big shows. He's clearly ready for the next level.
J.T. Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Poor Ian Entwistle. That is what happens when you overcommit to a technique. 1

The people there at the show are saying that Entwistle and his team believed Perez was greased up and were calling him a cheat afterwards. Either way, Entwistle's boom or bust leglock style isn't going to yield great results in the UFC. I thought Paul Sass and and the Sassangle was a novelty. Cummings actually beat Dalby on the feet. Not enough pressure from Dalby. It was similar to Whiteford against Martins earlier on the card. Dalby felt Cummings' power early on and tried to keep distance. That's not exactly appealing to the judges when Cummings was landing the clearer, definitive offense.
J.T. Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Once again the danger of overcommitting. Stanciu gassed herself out in those R1 sub attempts and ended both R1 and R2 in situations where she gave up her back. Good on Moroz for being patient and not closing too fast as Stanciu got enough wind in her to flurry. CroCop is in da house and the guy that KOed him by head kick is in the co-main. Interesting.

This has got to be Moroz's most complete performance in the UFC. Most of her MMA career prior to this fight has been basically "sit in my guard so I can armbar you", which she only had to resort to in the final round when she had the fight already locked up.
J.T. Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 At least Mirko got that win back against Gonzaga in his last UFC match. This Igor cat looks like an axe murderer but that Polish guy has a great chin, They do not know how to cheer on the hometown hero here in Zagreb. 1
TheVileOne Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Ian Entwistle is an idiot and pulled a play right out of the Rousimar Palhares screw-up book. How about if you can't finish a leglock, protect your head from getting dribbled by punches. Mairbek Taisumov is a beast and I fully believe he will be a title contender some day. 1
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Ngannou has a ton of potential. For right now, he can at least clean out the garbage of the division. Blaydes has some potential, but against someone as athletic as Ngannou, he is just fighting to get the fight to the ground.

Elsalvajeloco Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 2 minutes ago, Robert s said: if he knows how to beat a drug test Considering he's in his late 20s, it isn't out of the realm of possibility for him to look like that. Now a heavyweight in his his late 30s/early 40s looking bricked up...yeah, we may have to talk about that. Plus, he debuted in the UFC while they were already under the USADA program. So if he's on something that's not designer, he would be considerably smaller since his debut at least.
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Derrick Lewis is my favorite fighter. He should get his wish and get that Nelson fight.

Elsalvajeloco Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Rothwell is getting demolished. If JDS can stay off the cage and avoid Rothwell charging at him, it's an easy victory.
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Great disciplined win by JDS. Best he has looked in YEARS. In addition, he finally kept his back off the cage for the entire fight. Hopefully, Dorea is with him for every camp at ATT. I know it's gonna be tough logistically, but Dorea being there is certainly worth it. 1
TheVileOne Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Good win for Cigano. That's the best he has looked in years and sharpest too. He also came in great shape. Such is the nature of MMA. Ben Rothwell finally has me believing he can be a contender and has all the momentum, and he looks flats and loses to Dos Santos. Granted this matched up very well for Dos Santos in terms of his more dynamic boxing and movement, and Rothwell being very square and predictable with his movement. Still we hadn't seen that much movement from Dos Santos in a long time. 2
