Probably my single favorite band. John Darnielle grew up a LA wrestling fan and has several wrestling themed songs. He debuted a new one at the Newport Folk Festival called Animal Mask starting at 3:52 of this video

Great interview with Marc Maron which includes a little bout growing up a wrestling fan, also a lot of pretty in depth stuff you probably didn't know about him.  Still think All Hail West Texas is his best work.

I think he's the greatest songwriter of my generation.  I'm just so impressed with what he can do with such an economy of words.  "The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton" tells so much of a story in like 2 minutes.

My sixty year old ex-music industry dad picked up the recent All Hail West Texas reissue. I don't know how I'm going to convince him Sweden and The Coroner's Gambit are better... maybe, deep down, I know they aren't. But AHWT still has pacing issues!
