  1. Can confirm first-hand that Stott’s Slam resulted in the second-loudest reaction I’ve ever personally experienced in a baseball stadium (2022 NLDS Game 3 Hoskins HR/spike tops it slightly). My Apple watch spent the first hour of the game noting 100 dB measurements and warnings of my hearing loss; as I had worn earplugs, I was good to go, thankfully. My favorite atmospheric quirk is that AM radio travels farther during the night because its waves reflect off the ionosphere, so stations have to power down their transmitters’ strength at night to avoid interfering with each other’s broadcasts.
  2. My ancient carcass will be at tonight’s game, doing the polar opposite by remaining seated - row 1 for the win!
  3. Not too many players left who debuted during the aughts decade, either.
  4. Dammit - you beat me to the joke. I feel obliged to mention that the aforementioned “The Riddle Song” is quite lovely when not played for Animal House laughs; here is a Sam Cooke live version that is a mournful lullaby (this is also shortly after he lost his young son, which makes it hit heavier):
  5. Has anyone done a Fighting Spirit Eye Poke Exchange?
  6. I for one welcome Punk bringing Schrödinger's belt with him each week and the quantum mechanics it leads us to ponder, until he finally opens the mini-fridge and sends us randomly into a multiverse wherein some have the belt in the fridge and in others the fridge is empty.
  7. Which Jade WWE debut idea is worse: 1. Once more interrupting Cody - “Yet again I’ve found you!” leading to a groan-inducing Brandi run-in. 2. 4-month 50/50 feud with Nia Jax.
  8. I am poised to do exactly this for Grand Slam, except that it won’t be the secondary market - I bought a $30 upper deck seat; the loge level was originally priced at $98, but they’ve now begun dropping it to $31.
  9. I will always prefer the Oswald Experimental Trio for their garage sound:
  10. We watched WWF Championship Wrestling on a Philly UHF station, then held the rabbit ears antenna just so to re-watch it in half-snowy quality on WOR-9 to see the different house show interview inserts, and that’s the way it was and we LIKED it!
  11. That’s only been in existence since 2001; much of the horrendous flight behavior pre-dated it.
  12. This reminded me that the only time I ever went into a mosh pit was during a Rollins Band show in 1992 in Florida while they were playing “Tearing”, which was the equivalent of throwing myself into a cement mixer.
  13. I think the deal was that these jobber/JTTS interview segments were largely for the studio audience and would be replaced by insert ads for the local market house show.
  14. They should use “Cry Me a River” as a jumping-off point for a punishment gimmick change for Perry to a moody 1950s-era torch song singer. Can he play a trumpet? Smash out his teeth, and baby you got a Chet Baker 2100 AD stew going.
  15. A bronzed Inoki towel awkwardly hung around the neck of the winner > cup/trophy
  16. Emi braining Karen with the Freddie Mercury broken mic stand would work nicely here.
  17. Terry Funk on Shotgun Saturday Night, challenging Todd Pettingill to a fight and telling him that his mother is a whore: https://dai.ly/x2iai6w
  18. If Bret’s return had fallen through, I think a 1996 Savage would have been useful slotted in against Michaels and/or Austin. I also think a 1998 Savage coming in as a heel to be Vince’s corporate champion against Austin would have been fun.
  19. It's a blurry transition, but probably whenever the beginning/payoff of angles would occur on Raw more than on Superstars.
  20. Rolling Thunder hastily replaced with a simple senton called "Single Thunderclap".
  21. The expenses would be crazy, but imagine if WWE divided the country into six regions (Northwest, Southwest, Midwest, Midsouth, Southeast, Northeast), distributed their roster evenly into those regions. Those rosters only tour within those regions. Raw and Smackdown are taped weekly in each region (six separate regional Raws/Smackdowns - there’s that crazy expense I mentioned) and aired on USA/Fox only within their region. The World Champion and Tag Champions tour all the regions, spending 1-4 weeks at a time in each depending on storyline. As time goes on, various veterans come and go from region to region.
  22. DVDVR SAT question - CM Punk : Rocky III :: just drew : ________ A. Welcome Back Kotter B. Mork & Mindy C. The Dick Van Dyke Show D. Three’s Company
  23. I keep picturing Heyman looking out for his own interests and quietly arguing against every proposed title change with “where does the story go?”
  24. Well, TA’s first mistake was fighting in a southpaw stance when he’s right-handed.
  25. To me, Schiavone is someone who is just unintentionally bad at maintaining friendships, and Heenan from all accounts was someone who cherished his friends and expected the same consideration in return.
