  1. Maybe they just watched a lot of ICP's promotion and were big fans of Fat Fuck Barrel Boy
  2. I can't remember what match it was but there was a Kerry Von Erich match in the WWF where the marker stated, "Von Erich wins with the Twirling Twerlixer".
  3. Harper. Yeah yeah yeah yeah Has he dropped that permanently? I haven't seen him do it in a while. Seems like it was starting to get a face reaction so it would make sense why he would stop it. Still, I hope it comes back b/c I always loved the Gator Roll into the headlock with the creepy "yeah yeah yeah yeah".
  4. I don't know. To me, it's more like 65% flying bodypress, 25% roll-up, 10% time limit draw/lame DQ.
  5. What did she like about Cesaro/Zayn and why did she think Emma/Paige was ridiculous? She liked two handsome dudes fake-fighting in their drawers. She liked the concept of two girls fake-fighting, but the wacky dancing drove her nuts. I was semi-joking about the American Males, but consider the story about Bill Watts learning the term "blowjobs" for a pretty-boy tag team that draws in female fans. So, what was the best-looking pair of tag teams to have a solid feud against each other with multiple matches available on the WWE Network? Maybe Hardys vs. Edge/Christian?
  6. I don't know if there's a rhyme or reason as to which shows have markers and which don't. I think most of the WWF/E ppv's do. I haven't seen too many WCW ppvs that have markers but some do. The WCCW shows have markers if I'm not mistaken. I'm watching on PS3 btw.
  7. Were people complaining about Rey or the fact that he was getting squashed in non-title matches every week?
  8. I'd never watched Bugsy before but I'd always heard my grandma and aunt talk about him b/c he was one of their favorites. He's great. Kind of like a cross b/t Boogie Woogie Man and Rick Steiner as he jives around but also does manchild antics. And Checkmate is the shit. Guy could work and it's such an awesome name.
  9. There was an angle on the TV shows the next week that Dillon paid Garvin and Gary Hart lots of money to lay out Dusty with the punch. A great promo with Garvin rubbing himself in the money. Unfortunately I don't remember anything about a Garvin/Dusty feud in 88 According to Garvin, Dusty wanted to go over Garvin and pretty much everyone in Hart's stable. Garvin thought it was ludicrous b/c he'd stood toe to toe with the Horsemen and all of a sudden he'd be booked to put over Dusty every week. That's when he left for Puerto Rico and the AWA before showing up to the WWF. I remember Dusty did an interview after Garvin left saying that he beat Garvin up in a bar and ran him out of the NWA to explain Garvin's absence.
  10. So Rollins took a powerbomb? That's how it reads to me.
  11. Bash 1991. And OH MY GOD did that whole fucking card suck! And to your point of that opening match, first of all why would you even have a scaffold if no one's gonna take the bump off of it? And second, Eaton and Austin could've been a good match just by itself, or if they had to have Taylor (who wasn't a bad worker, just not on the level of Austin or Eaton) and Fat Ass Yo Baby Yo in the match, Eaton and Austin and maybe Taylor could've carried it and worked 85% of the match. Someone mentioned Ultimo and Nagata opening Halloween Havoc 1997, that was a solid match as well, and I think it would've been better had they been given more time. Yeah it was Bash 91. Got my timeline mixed up. I think there was supposed to be a bump but they brought the wrong kind of scaffold. It was too high or too unstable or something equally as WCWish like that. Austin mentioned it in his podcast but I can't recall which show or the exact details. Another crappy opener was the Bossman/Bull Buchanon vs. Godfather/D-Lo match at Mania 2000. Why would you open with that? People would pop for the ho's and the catchphrase but nothing else.
  12. Worst opening match has to be that PN News/Eaton vs. Taylor/Austin scaffold match (which ended up being a capture the flag match) at Bash 92.
  13. I thought it was pretty clear that it was a flashback. Bob has already established that he was alone before the prison and that he was feeling survivor's guilt for being the last man standing out of his previous two groups (hence him downing Nyquil to get buzzed and sleep, not giving a shit about the walker scratching at his makeshift cage, etc). They've made it clear that Daryl found him on the road and then Daryl and Glenn asked him Rick's Three Questions of Doom.
  14. Probably because they didn't think he'd pop a good buyrate. They didn't take him out until the show was already going on though.
  15. Damn, you're right. If I'm not mistaken, Harley Race wrestled on the card that wasn't shown on the Turner release. So on that note, was Sting/Koloff vs The Horsemen from GAB '88 the opening on that show, or was that a Turner edit as well? Harley beat Tommy Rich.
  16. Why did Johnny Smith get taken out of the main event?
  17. That reminds me of Gorilla Monsoon calling Carlos Colon a youngster at Royal Rumble 93 and Michael Cole labeling a 36 year old Steve Blackman as a "young superstar" in the 99 Rumble.
  18. Yeah HH 1997 is a good show. I've been popping around in my WCW watching but the majority of it has been the Halloween Havocs, especially the earlier ones because WCW was just SO GIMMICKY and corny that it made it 100% awesome. Do yourself a favor and watch the opening video package for Halloween Havoc 1993. Someone needs to screencap a bloodied Vader emerging from his grave at HH93. One of my favorite wrestling images ever.
  19. Murdoch was only 46 at the time of that match. He looked like he was about 65.
  20. That sounds boring. Not enough authority figures.
  21. Always weird for me to see Shields as a standout corner in the NFL. I'm a Miami, FL alum and he was considered a bust at WR and didn't get moved to corner until his senior year. He showed flashes but that's about it.
  22. This thread has gone two pages and no one has mentioned Captain Redneck busting out a flying headscissors?
  23. Same with my fiancee. She'll watch RAW with me sometimes and also when I host ppv parties but she mainly will just drink wine and talk with the other women who are there with my guy friends. They'll make the occasional comment but will hardly pay attention. Every now and then something will suck them in (the Rumble match is always good fun for that b/c we pick names out of a hat and you drink and get points and a prize for your guy throwing guys out and doing his finishing move) but for the most part, if someone didn't like it before, they're not gonna fall in love with it now. On the other hand, I have gotten her daughter hooked on wrestling. It's funny b/c she's a really prissy girly girl type 10 year old but she loves The Wyatts. I would've thought she'd have been rooting for The Shield but nope, The Wyatts are her guys. I thought it was b/c they have a cool entrance but she really likes their matches and would be glued to the screen if Harper/Rowan were doing a 5 minute squash match with The PTP.
  24. Only Matt Frewer's shining moment. My life for you
