  1. If you said to me 'AEW' and 'Better version of EC3' I'd assume you were talking about MJF, not Brian Cage. Then again, knowing him from TNA, I think of EC3 primarily as a guy doing an obnoxious rich guy gimmick. I can see that people who know him from WWE would think he was primarily a body guy.
  2. Wait, there's another match happening right now? Started before the previous one even ended? Weren't they supposed to be scheduled to be shorter (in real time) than NFL games?
  3. It's like Vince went into both teams locker rooms at half time, and told them to stop defending so well.
  4. I'm in England and watching the XFL. It's more real than the old one.
  5. If ever there was a gimmick Vince wouldn't get, it would be Cara Noir's gimmick.
  6. Walter couldn't hold it forever, but they had Eddie Dennis beat him (in a 3 way with Dave Starr). Then Dennis defended it once and got injured, so they had to give the fans something. And Cara Noir has had a dramatic rise in the last 12 months. With a lot of the NXT UK guys now becoming harder to get dates on, moving the belts onto freelancers makes sense for European indies.
  7. I'd say Vikingo vs TJP was TV match of the week this week. But not best match of the week, I watched that online (Alex Shelley vs Lee Moriarty).
  8. A whole two good matches on this week's show. But Eddie Dennis' shoulder was fucked after the table bump, and you could really tell by how he was taking the turnbuckles at the end. Also it's confusing how Trent Seven is named after Midlands water (which is named after the two main rivers in the Midlands, the Trent in the north and the Severn in the south), but Dennis has a move called the Severn Bridge (because if you're travelling between South Wales and the South of England, you go over the Severn Bridge, it's an obvious thing for a South Wales guy to name a move after). Dani Luna vs Viper was disappointing, and the tag match was just a match. But Bate vs A-Kid was solid (in that WWE TV decent sub-10 minute match, that would have been awesome if they'd had 20+ minutes way), and Dennis vs Severn was good. Far from the best wrestling I watched yesterday, mind.
  9. The EC3 gimmick is his TNA gimmick though. Dixie Carter's cousin. They bought the character to WWE thinking it was a great character that would get over better on the bigger stage, then did nothing with him. If AEW got him, I don't think they would make the same mistake.
  10. The 'Big Octagon sucks' thing was basically an offshoot of the 'Demetrious Johnson is boring' thing, wasn't it?
  11. Well, as a storytelling device in Pro-Wrestling, the 'Move that hurts me almost as much as it hurts you' is a way of telling the audience that your desire to hurt your opponent is greater than your desire ti protect yourself. Plus they probably wanted to make sure the board would break, and hitting it with two bodies simultaneously is a good way to do that. In kayfabe, the Side Russian Legsweep is one of the higher percentage moves out there. Think of all the matches you've seen where someone went for one. How many times was it blocked, or reversed? Not too many. Dolph Ziggler is an idiot for inventing an easier to defend version.
  12. There's Spanish commentary, yes but Goldenboy isn't on it. It's Dsha Gonzalez and another guy. Apparently it's pretty bad. People come into the English Fite stream chat and type in Spanish.
  13. If you have an IWTV subscription, you need to watch AIW Built to Last. Alex Shelley and Lee Moriarty just had a legit MOTYC. 20 days free with promo code: Absolute
  14. Weight Belts might be bigger and heavier than regular belts, but they're also much less flexible. The impact might actually be lesser. Besides which, the greater width would spread the impact, rather than concentrating it on one spot. Like taking a flat back bump, instead of a high neck drop.
  15. What Trent Seven thinks he looks like: What Trent Seven looks like:
  16. Styles was good for a while, but he was a bit of a one trick pony, and really bought into the ECW 'constantly one-up the last thing that happened' concept, to the point he was way overselling things. And then he signed for WWE and wasn't too impressive, other than beating up JBL that one time. Relaxed 'no lunatic screaming SAY IT DAMMIT' was an OK commentator in TNA, but they kept trying to move him into being a ringside manager instead. I think they really wanted to get him back in the ring as a Wrestler, but he apparently saw his career ending neck injury in different terms than Edge did.
  17. That's her favourite band, though. Imagine if your favourite band wrote a song about you. To be fair, the Manic Street Preachers were going to do a song for Wade Barrett, but Vince didn't think they were famous enough. They're famous all over the world, except in America.
  18. Death Match bumps! Penelope Ford misses the backflip elbow: Apron to Floor Russian Legweep:
  19. The one thing Oscar voters like more than movies about real life people (especially if they are disabled, or sing), is movies about the magic of Hollywood (or about how wonderful or great famous people are).
  20. "We're getting word, there's a commotion backstage!" Cut to backstage: 4 men walking down some stairs.
  21. So only like half a million across the rest of the world? All those international multilingual commentary teams, and there's only half a million non-Americans watching? (On the network, I mean; some people do still buy traditional PPV for some reason).
