  1. Check out the match database on thecubsfan's site - you can sort by matches recorded for tv and even those with links to youtube.
  2. Thecubsfan confirmed for me that the Groon XXX showing up in IWRG is the original Gronda, and he's like half the size he used to be. Is there some kickstarter or gofundme to help get swoll Gronda back?
  3. AAA brought in TNA talent for Triplemania or other shows a few times. Usually it involved Jarrett, but there was one match with Homicide, Low-ki, Samoa Joe and maybe somebody else. And AJ Styles was in AAA with the TNA title.
  4. Elgin is advertised to wrestle Davey Vega (I think) on the Anarchy card, too.
  5. I'd put this around the middle of the set, maybe as high as 40. But I really like Rudo Kung Fu. I've always liked Kung Fu gimmicks in wrestling. I can understand why a lot of people don't seem to like the kick and strike based offense of Kung Fu and guys like that, but I've never had the same problems with it - I don't think every strike in a wrestling match needs to be sold like death or even sold by bumping to the mat. In this match, Kung Fu's strikes look good and I absolutely love his bowing to the crowd, standing on Cruz, and his general dickishness. It's not anything ground-breaking, but it works and is actually somewhat different from a lot of the rudo stuff on this set. It reminds me more of, say, Hogan's heel work, but in a good way if that's even possible. It's like Kung Fu is reminding the crowd that he used to run the ropes and do the occasional jump and generally just MOVE, but he's done doing that and done trying to impress anybody. He's just gonna' take every cheap shot and shortcut he can.
  6. When is the deadline? Halloween? I'm re-watching stuff as much as possible as this is really difficult to rank outside of the top 15. I think I'm going to end up switching stuff around up until the day of the deadline.
  7. They literally put the belt on Cena like 10 minutes later. Rey didn't even get the dignity of going to sleep as WWE Champion. People give Hogan shit for some of the douchey things he did as a face but I think Cena swooping in and taking the belt from Rey trumps anything Hogan did.Did Cena lose in the first round of that tournament? The night where Rey won the title and then Cena went to the GM and whined about how he needed his rematch and it wasn't fair that he never got his rematch, so he got to face Mysterio for the title on the same night Mysterio won the title really turned me off of WWE's booking of Cena. Up until that point, I could understand that Cena was going to win, and would sometimes act like a dick. I just don't know what sort of privileged, sociopathic monster could script Cena to whine to the authorities about how unfair he was being treated and demanding he get a chance to fight a guy 1/4 his size right after that guy had a match, and think that this comes across as a likable or even respectable person.Reading between the lines, I think Rey signed a new contract just before this happened, so he probably demanded a world-title reign and they gave him one, albeit only for 90 minutes or whatever. Edit: For what it's worth, I did really like that Rey/Cena match.
  8. The American Wolves were in a televised match against the Ascension (on the Network) on NXT and lost. One of them got hurt during the match, and the rumor was that they were told to go home but didn't. The match was pretty sloppy, which I'm not going to attribute fully to the Wolves, but they certainly didn't help things. Also, Low-Ki has been let go by WWE twice. Edit: By "one of them" I meant one of the wolves, but I don't remember who.
  9. Tigre Uno was Extreme Tiger in AAA and DTU. Lots of fluorescent light bulbs broken in his matches. Manik is TJ Perkins, who has wrestled all over the world under all sorts of names. He was Puma some places, maybe even in Mexico. He was one of the Havana Brothers in CMLL, I think. He was in Lucha Libre USA, but I forget his name there.
  10. I can only assume that Harley will be at every one of these shows, broken hip and all. Harley's own promotion has shows, but there's mostly in central Missouri and I tend to go to shows closer to home since I'm middle-aged and lazy. It seems like fate constantly conspires against me ever getting to World League Wrestling; I was fully planning on going to the 8/30 show in Troy MO but that one was cancelled. Didn't they move their gym to Troy or somewhere near there? I thought they were going to run around there more often now.
  11. Is there still a ballroom at the Chase? I figured that's what they turned into the movie theater.
  12. RAW isn't on the Network for 30 days or something like that.
  13. There were like 2 or 3 occassions in which we barely avoided a Ken Kennedy championship reign. I was never much of an Edge fan, and was somewhat stunned by how hard he was pushed the last few years of his career, but during his entire main event run I just kept telling myself "this was supposed to be Kennedy," which made it slightly more bearable. Edit: but let's not discuss such disturbing subjects as Ken Kennedy. Has anybody heard if Tatanka's unbeaten streak was at any time the start of much larger plans? It seemed so weird that such a big deal was made of his streak, considering he never was pushed very hard.
  14. Meltzer recently said that WWE doesn't release guys any more, they just wait for their contracts to run out. It seems that this has been their policy for a few years now, although that doesn't explain why they would sign Estrada beyond one appearance. This also leads to the conclusion that JTG signed a 10-year contract.
  15. I'm still not sure how this giant swing over the top rope is supposed to work within the confines of Earth's gravitational pull. Do you guys hold out hope for a 1350 degree splash, too?
  16. On the one hand I would like to be shown Davey Richards matches that could change my opinion of him but on the other hand life is short and I'd rather not squander one second watching another Davey Richards match.
  17. Who is on the WWE writing staff now? Is it even split up between Raw & Smackdown anymore, or did they stop that a few years ago?
  18. I voted to include the whole world because I am old enough to remember a time when this board was only marginally interested in WWE, at best, and when voting was something you were supposed to do regardless of your apathy.
  19. I think this will finish higher on my ballot than others, but I tend to really enjoy title matches. I understand how the trading of holds can be jarring to some people, but it really worked for me in this type of really clean and respect-filled title match.
  20. I have to agree with the people that think Atlantis held this back a bit. Throughout the match, his offense was extremely choppy and had no pace or sense of purpose. This mainly happened if he was in control for a segment where the pace slowed down for a moment. That said, Satanico was an absolute blast in this, and carried an obviously green Atlantis to a really great match. Satanico was either putting on an absolute display of excellent rudo brawling or was taking complete advantage of a younger wrestler (both?), but either way it made for a great match. Even with my problems with Atlantis, I can see this finishing in the top 20.
  21. IWL has a 4-way match with 5 guys in it. This is restraint on their part.
  22. I really liked how Santo and Atlantis seemed to get more confident as the match went on, landing bigger and flashier moves, until the end of the 3rd fall when they seem to be having fun, like the last inning of Game 7 of the world series and you're up by 5 runs. I'd never seen this match before, and went into it not expecting much, but absolutely loved how good Santo and Atlantis were this early in their career.
  23. I love rudo teams that just run amok, and when the tecnico teams gets their act together and brings the fight back it usually works great, like it did here. This was just a fun out of control brawl and everyone worked great.
  24. I really enjoyed this and felt that it showed just how great Chicana was coming after the previous two brawls on this set. I'll watch this again down the road to see if it stands up, but I really enjoyed how both guys were moving at a fast pace to see if the other could keep up, and I loved the back and forth matwork in the 3rd fall. You had big dives, weird submissions and back and forth matwork, what else can you ask for in a lucha title match?
