I watched the show live with a bunch of friends. We all lost our shit at the Hollywood Ending match. Then some of them went nuts for Omega/Takeshita while I was like "I don't see it." and then even more so at the steel cage match, and once again I was like "Really?" - so I just assumed that Toni/Mariah burned me out. Last night, I fired it up again for a fresher perspective, and nothing much changed.

Well if Russo had his way, that probably would have been Sable. I think it was Cornette who said: "She wears great tee shirts. But she can't work, she can't talk, she can't even act like she'd goddamn breathing!"

AEW TV - 3/5 - 3/11/2025 - Revolution Is My Name

For someone who AEW only sees fit to book something like once every four months, Dralistico sure as shit justified his continued employment last night. He actually worked a match with Hologram instead of acting as a base while Hologram busted out all of his borderline insane shit. -
Did you see the match Harley had on Collision last night? I was one of the people clamoring for her to get her moment on that show. But, as much as she's entertaining and the fans love her, last night was proof that she's nowhere near ready to be able translate that in the ring.

The grocery store near the wife's job has a pretty ridiculous sale this weekend for Lent. A box of 40 (!) tilapia filets for $20! Needless to say, we're having grilled tilapia tonightm and the next couple of "Let's just throw something quick together because we both had long days" dinners are probably tilapia too.

I've always been on again/off again with Lucha, it was the whole AEW/CMLL thing that actually got me back into it. My 13 year old daughter will watch the Youtube highlights with me and comment about how graceful they all are. She refers to Mistico as "the guy that does all the twirling" and Barbaro is "Mexican Bam Bam" And yeah, I lost my shit the first time I saw that splash. I showed it to a bunch of my buddies and asked who was more crazy, Barbaro for doing it or the guy on the floor for laying there and taking it.

He worked the ROH tapings in Houston a few weeks back. https://x.com/luchablog/status/1892745929754599786?s=46&t=Ub02z7YeaAUmGMeCMq01TA

I don't think so, unless Goto has some sort of injury or is taking time off for another reason. My buddy and I both figure that he drops it at Dominion to whomever wins the NJ Cup.

23 MPH winds and brownout conditions in Carlsbad yesterday, to the point that school buses were cancelled and parents needed to make their own arragements to get their kids home. I can't even picture that happening when I was that age, I'd probably have had to walk home or got a ride from a teacher. And today is supposed to be even worse. My younger kiddo had a field trip today that we got notified last night was scrapped.

Why even bother with doing a double title match, if the plan wasn't for a unification or OZAWA holding both of them? Wouldn't it have been just as easy for Soya to challenge OZAWA with the aim of being a double champ?

I just caught the Highlights of Takeshita/Angel del Oro from last night, which looked pretty damn good, other than the Canadian Destroyer spot which I fucking despise. Takeshita rolling through Angel's cradle and doing the wheelbarrow slam was a great spot, and I wish he'd have done that Wednesday night against Orange Cassidy, instead of the sequence they did.

Hechicero vs. Barbaro Cavernario and Mistico vs. Averno from the 2/28 Fantasticamania show are both great stuff, worth checking out. The MLW strap being at stake, and the fact that Averno's record against Mistico is something like 1-199 didn't exactly make the outcome in doubt, but damn if both of them didn't do everything they could to make it seem like it. By the end, it was like watching a really great baseball or football game. You're so entharlled from all the excitement that you're not even that upset that your team just lost. Barbaro/Hechicero was an absolute war, to the point that a double count out finish would have totally worked, and a whole lot better than the Kidd/Yota KO finish from 2/11.

The Barbaro Cavernario/Hechicero and Mistico/Averno matches from today's FantasticaMania are both great stuff. The outcome of Mistico/Averno is never in doubt, but holy hell, do they try their damnest to create it anyway. The only thing that I wasn't too keen on was that last Devil's Wings from Averno, but it was amazing stuff the rest of the way. It's almost like a great sporting event, where even if your team loses, the actual contest was so exciting that you're really not that mad. Barbaro/Hechicero was an absolute war, and the story behind it wasn't unlike the Hechicero/Mistico Leyenda de Azul final, along with plenty of hatred and some borderline crazy spots.

Now that it's on the Hulu, I watched Longlegs last night. I'd heard about it when it came out last year, but assumed it was something akin to a Creature Feature about a Giant Spider (I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere about Kevin Smith and Jon Peters). Then I found out what sort of movie it actually is. It's sufficiently creepy, with an unexpected twist but a predictable ending that I wound up calling more than an hour before it happened.

AEW TV - 2/19 - 2/25/2025 - I'm Gonna Outrun To You

The layout of this whole "International Championship Series" tournament perfectly sums up my frustration with this company, despite how much I enjoy the actual wrestling. OC beats Strong last night, and thus challenges Takeshita for the International Strap next week. The winner of that goes to defend the title at the PPV against Omega. Why exactly is the current champion having to go through all of this to defend against him? Would it not make more sense for Omega to have to whether the proverbial storm in order to get a title shot? -
Frost and Taya seem like they'd make a good team, and Takeshita is really making the rounds lately with his appearances. That's why, as much as AEW can be aggravating for various reasons, I'm still glad they're around.

LuchaBlog posted on Twitter/X that the 3/21 CMLL card will have Mistico and Mascara Dorada vs. Komander and Hologram. So CMLL has either really softened up on the idea of using guys with AAA history or they've both been gone from AAA long enough that they're not considered AAA guys anymore.

My wife and I are getting some free coffee. Just for quick background: We've been ordering K-Cups from Two Rivers Coffee, who have all kinds of crazy flavors and brands. They only sell 40 packs, so we always got the variety packs. We ordered a box last weekend and the picture of all the stuff in the box included a new one I'd never had before. Donut Stop (which is all various donut flavors) Strawberry Glaze. We get the order, and there's a few from Donut Stop (all of which are good) but not the new strawberry one. So, I get on the email and explain that I'd been looking forward to the trying the new strawberry one, but it wasn't included in the order. And is there any other way to try it, short or ordering a 40 pack? I expected them to come back with something like let them know when I place my next order and they'll throw a couple of them in or what's in the photo isn't exactly what's in the box, and just get on with my life. No, they asked me to verify my address and they'll send us out a whole box of Donut Stop. Needless we're more than a little excited, and with the box that we just got, we should be good on coffee for at least 2 months now.

DVD/BR Collector Thread for the Physical Media Enthusiasts

Oh sweet. I have a Movies Anywhere Account since that's where most of my digital codes tell me to go to in order to redeem them and my Fandango account is linked to it. -

I splurged a little bit and got the Alien 6 film Blu Ray collection from Wally World. The digital codes are only for the theatrical versions (which sucks in the case of Aliens), but the actual discs have both the theatrical and special editions of Alien and Aliens and the unrated versions of Alien 3 and Resurrection. And being the OCD stickler that I am for organization, I created an Alien list on my Fandango account and have them sorted by cannon chronology, including Romulus, even though I don't offically own that one yet. -
I love a good stout, but I'm not too fond of porters. They all seem to have this watery taste that just doesn't do it for me, like a not-as-good stout. The only exception that I can think of offhand is the Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald. I used to be a big beer snob like 10-12 years ago, but I've mellowed out quite a bit with age.

My favorites are Sam Adams Octoberfest and the varioius stouts from the Southern Tier Brewing Company Blackwater Series. I really don't drink much anymore, which led to an amusing discussion between the wife and me a while back. The gist was that I commented that I'd had a bunch of beers in the fridge for a while because I just hadn't felt like drinking. She replied that maybe it was just a part of my life that was over, followed by her asking me where her wine was. But more often than not, the beer is used for cooking. We have an awesome receipe for crockpot french dips, and every time we make it, we try different beers to see how different it comes out. I really do miss the 'make a six pack' gimmick at the grocery store. My local one doesn't do it, and the only other place that does is over an hour away.

AEW TV - 1/15 - 1/21/2025 - Yah Mox B There

Lord knows that I love MJF, and I've really come to appreciate what Jarrett has done in AEW. But Dustin Rhodes wiped the floor with both of them in a 45 second promo. I'm fully expecting some sort of heat-up segment from them next week, where MJF busts him open with the ring, and then later on Jarrett uses the guitar, and it spills over intoa match at the Knoxville show. I'm wondering of the 12 man on Collision goes on as scheduled. I'm thinking back a couple of years to when Jungle Boy gave Cole the Concerto on Dynamite and they still went ahead with a Cole singles match on Rampage. It's nice to see Joe back, and the return of the Belligerent Savages (as Smart Mark Sterling calls them). One more reason for someone to decide to actually do something with those trios belts. If Killswitch is ever ready to go, there's a ready made program for them, especially with Father Christian looking at cashing in his MITB.
