  1. I don't know how many punk shows I've been to where the conversation turns to nerding out about wrestling. Two friends of mine actually have a band named Dino Bravo and come out wearing fake belts; one of them dressed up as old school CM Punk with the track shorts one year for Halloween. It was super spot-on.
  2. Pretty good introduction for Breeze; that first forearm was stiff though his punches are shit. I've never seen the man myself (no Network here) but I appreciate him looking more punchable than even Ziggler. Anyone see that Rusev/Barrett/Sheamus bit and immediately get reminded of Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff forearming each other? SHIT. New Day/Ambrose and Reigns was just awesome. Where has this Kofi Kingston been all my life? He had some mean offense and ate probably the meanest Spear I've ever ever ever seen in my life. Ambrose was wily dodging around and coming out of off-screen for a sudden plancha, Big E was bumping all over (plus his dancing at the start with added crotch thrust was fantastic), and New Day just flat trying to leave was great. This was way better than I expected with a missing Xavier. Plus, their "XW" black armbands were some mean heeling, really mocking everyone who's done that. This is worth watching for this match alone. Plus I missed Cesaro both losing and being mocked. So hey.
  3. I just got the story from the source. Both my mom and my dad knew their friend had watched Halloween on TV, which they had too. One night they knew their friend was coming home late at night and all the lights were off at night so they decided to pull a fucking rib and my dad did the breathing. Lady ran right out the front door screaming. Then -- get this -- they DID IT AGAIN ON THE PHONE about a year after. The first time, she wouldn't speak to them for about a week; the second time, they knew better than to ever pull it again because she probably wouldn't ever talk to them again. My (and your) parents got up into some shit back in the day haha
  4. http://dailygrindhouse.com/thewire/john-carpenters-halloween-1979/ My folks went to see Halloween with friends when it came out. It scared the living shit out of them, and if I recall correctly, my dad turned out the lights, crept up on the ladies and did the heavy breathing later that night and spooked the bejeezus out of them when they were hanging out later.
  5. DAMN. Watchtower is a huge blindspot in my metal listening. All I knew is they were a prog metal band that had the dude from Dangerous Toys as a singer. So Voivod and Atheist it hurts, which means these songs are mine, all mine.
  6. I've came across a few interesting things the last week: a Coca-Cola cover pressing of Rocka Rolla by Judas Priest for $6 (!!! I know what to do if I ever run into financial troubles again), an original copy of Necroticism by Carcass that I threw a buddy $25 for because it was definitely worth it in the condition it was in and considering it was on blue wax, but for $2 I got Thundersteel by Riot on tape and I'd have to do a roll of the dice to decide which of the three was a better purchase, honestly. One of the best power metal songs ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzg06sKt4_I EDIT: Oh, I'm also going to see Autopsy/Incantation/Cardiac Arrest/Disinter/Wrist in Chicago tomorrow. Might have to sell Rocka Rolla sooner than I thought EDIT II: This post makes me believe I am truly turning into Record Collector Scum but then I realize I'm too much of a cheap-ass and not enough of a worshipper of rarities.
  7. Yeah right. It's the DVDVR board, we would definitely be talking about that movie
  8. This might have been the match where I realized how cool Mesias was. It was one of the LA Park brawls, anyway. After the Grave Consequences match, this is a pretty good trio of affairs. Fenix will die for your pleasure.
  9. Just saw Red Dragon again. I will always prefer Manhunter -- always -- but I really liked this one after another watch. They give way more time to Francis Dolarhyde, and initially I didn't like the fact that Fiennes played him because he's too handsome, but they cover for it. Emily Watson is really, really good. The only casting issue I still have is with Ed Norton, who looks too much of a weenie for the character, and Harvey Keitel because seeing him completely takes me out of the movie and all I see is Harvey Keitel. Not that either are bad of course, I just wouldn't put them in their roles. It might be better to have just got Scott Glenn and William Peterson back if they were going all "mix up the two movies with previous cast". The end is seriously intense but I
  10. Actually, they're probably ribbing Cesaro AND the fans who went out of their way to have an original idea and opinion and start the "Cesaro Section" signs
  11. Amityville II is pretty goofy; I liked it when I was a kid but a rewatch years later came up short. I mean, 3D is pretty goofy too but I like it better. I think it's just a matter of preference. The effects and acting in 3D are pretty solid and the monster in the well is cool.
  12. I tried to find a .gif of Boris slapping the piss out of the murdering kid in Targets but no dice. That's my feelings on the subject, anyway. Bela's still awesome though. A question: Is Amityville 3D the only decent movie in the entire series? I even thought the first one sucked.
  13. I think they're ribbing Cesaro with this.
  14. If those five walked into a bar when they were all the same age, I know exactly who would be the first to talk shit and who would throw the first punch to defend them. Nowadays, I know who exactly would be the first to talk shit and the first to let them get their ass kicked.
  15. *mumbles* Goddamn Japanese obsession with copyrights and personal ownership...
  16. Anyway, back in the forgotten days of Crimson Peak discussion, here's this. http://deadline.com/2015/10/crimson-peak-guillermo-del-toro-donald-trump-mexican-immigrants-1201585629/ I'm consistently impressed by the eloquence and brain behind Guillermo's films (and you should really see the Director's Chair from El Rey of him speaking and then you'll read the whole damn thing in his voice). I STILL haven't seen Cronos, and STILL haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth, but the man as a person is someone I deeply admire. He had a quote in an issue of Deep Red (RIP Chas. Balun) that I read that always stays with me but I haven't read it in quite awhile but I'll dig it up tomorrow. It's perfect.
  17. I read this and immediately saw Bill Murray in my head pull a face and shrug. Which is probably what the reaction will be.
  18. The Langella Dracula is legit great. It has a moment that Stephen King talked up in his great book on horror in cinema and literature, Danse Macabre, that will freak you right out. A film that old having effects that still have that frisson is amazing. Halloween II is on right now and I have to say, maybe it's because I saw it first, but I like it just as much as the original (and no I am not talking about Rob Zombie's abortions). Maybe because it's so over the top but at the same time still similar. Even the dumb cop got some good lines. EDIT: I think it also has to do with the ending having the best death of an immortal slasher villain ever
  19. Hey now. The Midwest is full of assholes, but there are huge enclaves of people here that could give less of a shit for anything Clint Eastwood sympathizes with politically. While still being bright enough to understand that High Plains Drifter, Unforgiven, and Gran Torino are great yet incredibly fucked-up movies.
  20. Not me, I missed it too. But I DID catch the Michael Mann Director's Chair and I have even more respect for the man(n), he's a sly Chicagoan who doesn't give away all his secrets, but you can see the wheels in his head turning like mad the whole time.
  21. We have failed as a board for not doing the Boomer Sooner joke for Mr. Strongman before.
  22. That is some serious MISC MATCHES fare right there. I looked on Youtube but couldn't find anything, sadly. Putting in "Tarzan Goto Ichiro Yaguchi" will lead you to some pretty weird results though.
  23. At least GG Allin had good songs. Well, "good" is a relative term in that case, but it certainly doesn't apply to the Mentors. Plus, GG introduced me to Warren Zevon.
