  1. In case anybody wants to know, Dish is in the house now and the difference with DirecTV isn't huge. The remote lights up and has a voice control (both of which creep me out), there is apparently no autotune option unless I haven't figured it out yet, but each box in the house comes with its own DVR so you can record endless hours of stuff if you want so that kind of negates any complaints. Plus, since we have SiriusXM it's now on the TV so all of the really sucky music channels that came with Dish (boy, DirecTV has them over a barrel there) can be ignored. Not a lot of difference with channels besides the lack of El Rey and no HBO option at all. Also, boy oh boy City on a Hill you are a bastard for That's just low. Which means there might be some nasty twists for the season finale. Also, Decourcy's bitter, dejected rant about the 1% -- 20 years before that became a national catchphrase -- is gold. That should be sampled on a record.
  2. Either that or The Blair Witch Project? But I still haven't seen that* so IMO Scream has to be it * Even though I own it on VHS
  3. I'm guessing somebody has something for Michael Cimino over at Showtime because they've got The Deer Hunter in rotation too. If we get super lucky then maybe Year of the Dragon will show up (doubtful). Got to see Big Trouble in Little China for the first time ever all the way through in the theater today. After catching bits of stuff like Golden Swallow on El Rey before going to see it I was kind of underwhelmed by some of the kung fu. Still, the comedy and even the effects still hold up after all these years.
  4. Go figure this comes back up right after I watched another Phil comp that had a ton of 2000 shit on it, like Kawada/Tenryu and Chiggy/KAORU. 2000 was a good year.
  5. Please god no. For their sake, no. I'm still behind but Ibushi/Okada was a hell of a match. You don't get me saying that too often about an Okada match but there you go.
  6. Had to look that up but I'd sure as hell watch it
  7. Here it is, if you can watch it without subtitles. The version that just showed up on Night Flight Plus is the same and has a subtitles option WITHOUT PROVIDING THEM GRRRRRRRRR... and Dailymotion doesn't have shit so don't bother.
  8. Just finished watching (almost all of) Heaven's Gate. Granted I was multitasking for some of it and I just walked out on the rape scene but I did see pretty much all of it from the credits on! That's more than most can say. I'll throw my hat in with those that think it's unfairly maligned. Now there are things I certainly didn't like: the gauzy cinematography where everything is seen through a fine layer of dust or smoke or something, the "epic" dance scenes (I just ignored those, except for the part where the Dude threw up on roller skates), the somewhat dragging pace. But it isn't the cesspool of wankery and boredom that it was claimed to be at all, and it has some very prescient issues in it, and even quite powerful moments. The topic of class warfare with the rich ending up as the winners through the unwarranted slaughter of the poor is something that never gets old and is probably another reason why critics and viewers hated it. It's a massive bummer. The end especially, where is particularly blackhearted and a real downer. But it makes a statement. The scene where the townspeople are arguing for or against battle with one saying "we are all immigrants here" and eventually spitting out the claim of "collaborator" at a guy who makes the argument that in Russia they managed to fight the army until they hit the river is to me the centerpiece of the entire film and the most important part of any of it. The final battle is as epic as anything in cinema (though unfortunately leading to the need for animal rights watchdogs in the US film industry). There are two other parts that really made my day and also summed up the film. The first is during the final battle when the commander moons the townspeople firing back and Kristofferson says to the dude next to him "That man is a friend of the President." The second is earlier, when Christopher Walken walks into the militia leader's office, shoots the final rapist in the head point blank, and listens to the leader tell him that the townspeople are basically vermin to which he answers "Have you ever killed a man yourself?" The leader responds with all the offices he's held and how his grandpa held high office and that he's even a friend of a friend of the president to which Walken says "And fuck him too."
  9. Same here but for Stranglemania 2. That thing had fuckin Combat Toyoda vs. Megumi Kudo on it!
  10. How long has it been since Tommy Boy put out anything of relevance?
  11. From an 80-year-old Francis Ford Coppola, relevant as ever: Of course this is from a Guardian article about him recutting Apocalypse Now YET AGAIN so...
  12. Love Black Sabbath, but can't even do it. If it doesn't end with "The Drop of Water" then it just doesn't work. The order of stories in that film is VERY important.
  13. Methinks it'll work out fine for both of them. It's already benefited Archer.
  14. I'm just getting tired of it. It seems like it happens in every match I've chosen to watch so far. Maybe that's my problem in the ones I've picked (at least from B block as I get to see all the AXS A block stuff)
  15. Just in case you too thought it a bit odd to name your daughter after a color, Teal is also a name for a small duck. So... well, he and her mother didn't name her after a color, I guess.
  16. I'd be happy even if he never showed up at a venue and only appeared on their AEWTron with evil machinations and insidious grins.
  17. Let me clarify then: the wrestlers need to stop wandering into the crowd like their match is being held in ECW Arena circa 1995
  18. I swear I cannot keep up with or understand these rules Anyway, what's been pissing me off about Red Shoes THIS time is him following the wrestlers into the crowd instead of counting them out. C'mon dude, do your job.
  19. Click the eye icon on the post bar where you pick bold, italics, etc. Or just write [ spoiler ] and then [ / spoiler ] (without the spaces of course)
  20. Heh. When I posted that LU streaming link to my Facebook I wrote "Come for the first two seasons, stay until it really starts pissing you off"
  21. More Basil! I was watching Universal Soldier or Demolition Man or something the other day for a minute and the soundtrack was totally ripping him off -- sounded identical. Can't place exactly what it was though.
  22. Phew... only Hollywood would be okay with just saying "we don't care, we'll make it a film anyway". Wiki says the ending has him
  23. Wow, I didn't know it underwent such bullshit: Pretty sure I saw it on DVD. I still need to read Dark Alliance someday. RIP Gary Webb As far as Iran-Contra on TV Snowfall has had a fictionalized hand in it.
  24. I wouldn't put it past them having a news anchor asking the general public questions and some redneck blurting it out
