  1. really became a fan during the Black Machismo gimmick. but since i didn't follow TNA for much after that, i don't know what's happened since then. But i always enjoyed seeing him wrestle. will make it a point to rewatch that Jay/Samoa Joe match and to check out that Jay/Liger match.
  2. oh god please no. every nitro ended with a brawl and the timekeeper ringing the bell for 10 minutes straight. if i never heard that again it will be too soon.
  3. GFW is coming to my area in early September. not sure if i wanna go or not. i don't follow any indies so won't know anybody, but it should still be a decent time. guess i'll decide when tickets go onsale and see the prices.
  4. i remember when that segment happened. i (and assumingly everyone else) kept waiting for an actual superstar to come out instead of these nobodies. i really believed that eventually someone like the Ultimate Warrior would face Piper and then join the team. instead, it was just some random boxer guy, and a kickboxer or something. i had no problem with John Tenta, although i did find it weird they pretended we'd never seen him before.
  5. really need to rewatch this card. i got incredibly drunk and didn't focus on the main card at all. hell, even the prelims i only half-watched.
  6. i was going to grab it anyway, but now i'm stoked! can't wait to have a real, experienced fighter in the mix and see how that goes. i'm still randomly submitting ballots for Bomberman, btw. and a few for Simon Belmont, too.
  7. my amiibo collection sits at 17. picked up a few older ones on the cheap. nothing crazy, but i didn't have Mario, Peach, Yoshi, or Kirby, and now i do. may see if i can hunt down a Ness (unless they're crazy rare and expensive, then nevermind). Hoping they reprint Little Mac (want him, but not THAT bad). otherwise looking forward to Olimar in the next wave. still debating on Ganon (i don't have any villains now and am torn)
  8. my biggest problem with the game was how easy it was. i know it's a pseudo-sequel to the SNES game, but everything is ripped straight from that game and then watered down. seriously, i beat it without dying. that also made the whole "rent an item until you die" kinda pointless as i had most items from the outset. loved everything else, tho. once you get the ability to merge with the walls or whatever, it is so cool. you try it everywhere just to see what might happen.
  9. i was not feeling the Gordon-as-Batman thing at all after the Divergence bit. but i have to say, Batman #41 was a really good issue and i'm down to see what happens now.
  10. my friend mentioned that it felt like a Strikeforce card, with a lot of exciting if not evenly matched fights. can't say that i disagree. had a blast with this card.
  11. i believe what happened was that they just had cruiserweight matches, but then on commentary would mention whether or not it was a tournament match. there was never a bracket shown, and then they announced that the "finals" were happening at whatever PPV it was. there was no tournament, and the matches were of no consequence to the finals.
  12. i kinda hoped that TNA would be able to thrive with Hogan/Bisch taking over. i agree with them bringing in the Nasties/etc. to put over younger homegrown talent, and thought it would work to some extent. then i remember on their Monday night debut, they kept hyping up Hogan being on his way, and reliving the WCW parade deal from '94, and then Hogan comes out and says "i've been in the back all day with the boys, and they're all excited, brother" and i metaphorically wept.
  13. i was at Taboo Tuesday that year with Snitsky vs Kane. i think my friends and i were the only ones cheering for Snitsky. "Not His Fault" didn't take off as a cheer like i hoped. i remember him being in a battle royal at some point (pre-WrestleMania22?) where he was one of the last ones and i legitimately thought he was going to win. i was cheering like crazy. he didn't win, and i don't remember who did instead, but it was awesome. Snitsky was an absolute blast of a dude to be a fan of.
  14. had no idea that amiibo wave 4 came out today. i actually thought it was last weekend, but i wasn't super excited for any of the characters. by complete chance, happened to be at Best Buy today. they had a single Splatoon 3-pack still available (which i debated, but didn't pick up), Wario, and Pac-Man. well, the only character i was interested in was Pac-Man, so snatched him. had Wario not been in that dumb biker costume i probably would've grabbed him too, but no worries. i'm happy.
  15. i have a compilation dvd of the Brawl4All tourney. as a big fan of pro wrestling, and a big fan of mma (especially early nhb style mma), i loved it. all of my friends hated it, and it gets nothing but hate online. i can't see them wanting to showcase it again.
  16. "got kidnapped by Bruce Banner". this can't end well. i'm way too sarcastic to be imprisoned by someone with anger issues.
  17. X-Men '92 #01 came out digitally today. i think i'm in love.
  18. Hulk Hogan apparently thinks he will be the Expendables 4 villain. This apparently doesn't take into account that E4 hasn't even been announced. Or the fact that Hogan can't move. But hey, maybe he can reprise his Rocky 3 role. edit: sorry, apparently my browser hates me and i can't post a link.
  19. damn, Rony Jason is down to the prelims on a Fight Pass card? he was supposed to be a killer in his division just a couple of years ago.
  20. yeah, better than average Fight Pass main/co-main. also, is the Pancrase library up on Fight Pass? it might be time to subscribe
  21. my wife's family has terrible MMA knowledge when it comes to planning camping trips. they've only got two scheduled this year (so far). the first is this weekend (ufc 187) and the other is july 11th (ufc 189). grrr.....
  22. just got a copy of WWE Super Tuesday in the mail. from november 2002. what a fun little show this was. oddly, i haven't been able to find it online for the last couple of years.
  23. yeah, some of those early SSN episodes have a bizarre feel to them. in a good way, tho. and give that dude some credit. his full name was "Fondle Me Elmo"
