  1. I'm only two episodes into Nitro and I have to say I'm probably enjoying it more than I did the first time. One of the nice touches I'm really liking is having matches on the b-shows to determine who faces people on Nitro. It kinda gives an extra bit of importance to being on Nitro. The only knock I will put on the show is something I noticed is that a lot of the matches are on the sloppier side of things. Something that I never really felt was as prevalent in the WWE.
  2. On the TV side of things, Arrow Season 2 is going up on Netflix on September 12th.
  3. They need the network to be a hit in the long run, but their money is so god damn steady that it's hard to find the corporate reasons to ever have a light put under their ass. Frankly, the network is perfect for them, because what it does is take out the middle man. What we learned with the round of TV negotiation is that they're always going to be seen as sub duck dynasty shite. Wrestling will be low-brow, low-sponsor, appealing to idiots TV forever. This is how it will be looked at. This is how it will be paid for. Maybe WWE thinks otherwise, maybe not, but they've set up a system where their fanbase can basically just give them their money, no matter what anyone in a suit thinks, and it's up to them to make that pay off. WWE has really developed an interesting business problem in that they've created a popular product that no one (advertisers) care that is popular. The WWE Network seems to be an obvious step to finding a solution but it's a long term play that the WWE kinda short term shoot themselves in the foot by not selling it from the start as a long term project. Anyway in terms of Raw last night, did they start powdering Paige's face? I know she's never been Barbie Orange but she really looked unnaturally pale last night, especially compared to the rest of her.
  4. LastPass is offering a free year of premium service to both new and existing users. I already consider the premium service a no-brainer because I can't imagine trying to log into sites and apps without LastPass.
  5. Googling shows that you are right and that it had slipped my mind. I still would say that I would like more to see what he could do given control over all aspects Spidey. Though Spider-Man could turn out to be a character like Batman where writers might not find a lot to say about, especially within the confines of the limited lasting changes of such a major character.
  6. So I'm working my way through Waid's first volume of Daredevil since the last issue went up on Marvel Unlimited this week and it just has me wondering how a Waid written Spider-Man could be.
  7. It's nice that we're getting two to three diva angles these days but I actually feel like the matches were better structured during the bra and panties era. It feels like the women who can wrestle aren't given enough time while the ones that can't are given too much time. For a few weeks it seemed Smackdown featured AJ versus the Total Diva all-stars with AJ dominated by horrible heel offense before reversing into her finisher. You'd think with an actual training center they could devote time to helping the divas along.
  8. If I had only paid $12.99 for Summer Slam I would have been pretty annoyed with the quality. The video when I was watching Sunday night was bad enough that I couldn't read the hashtags on the screen. I ended up not watching the last two matches till Monday and the video was still a bit fuzzy. I imagine that it is hard to stress test a system like this but they're putting a lot of their future on this system and bad press and impressions are hard to recover from.
  9. For my inner child that had the money to order the first In Your House but couldn't, I went ahead and did a month of the WWE Network for Summer Slam.
  10. I'd imagine that is the other problem with everything being a blockbuster, blockbusters require more screens than non-blockbusters which mean that there is less screens for other movies. I feel like the two things I've taken away from movie commercials this summer are how few movies I've seen advertised and how many movies I thought were already out but actually weren't.
  11. "Let me get this straight we don't have a show tomorrow, did you get suspended again?" - Papi Highly Questionable remaining the only reason for me to watch ESPN on a regular basis.
  12. I think eventually comic book movies are going have to take the James Bond format for changing actors, like the original Batman movies did. If they're going reboot the series every time we change stars they really need to start creating comic book series staring adolescent superheroes.
  13. Comixology Sale Catch Up: Vol. 1 through 12 of DMZ(Ends 8/12/14), all of the DnA Nova series and first 10 issues of the new series(Ends 5/8/14), and a 50% off TMNT sale(ends 8/11/14). Just wondering, and possibly as future reference for others, what tablet did you end up going with?
  14. Figured I'd chime in with some more love for the movie. As a comic reader there were some obvious "BUT THAT'S NOT HOW IT IS IN THE COMIC" thoughts but at the same time I almost felt like this might have been one of the most loyal to the source material Marvel movies yet. The changes that were made all seem to be trying as hard as possible to stay true to the intent of the original concept. I look forward to seeing a second time since I'm the type of person that misses almost all the cameos and Easter Eggs on the first viewing. Personally I expect this to make a ton of money if simply for the fact that my mom, who has never watched a Marvel movie before, actually loved it when she went to see it with my nephew. The fact that my mom will probably go see the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie when it comes out is just mind blowing. I went to a 12:30 PM matinee and there were a lot of families in there and I was surprised at how well behaved they were.
  15. I couldn't find myself on the list because I was looking in the wrong direction. Still don't expect a surprise rush to the top but hey I might finish in a slightly respectable manner.
  16. I do applaud them only showing the replay once during the scrimmage. Now I just have to avoid Sports Center for the next week or so.
  17. Have to say that I REALLY wish I could unsee the replay of that one.
  18. Sorry, I skipped Raw. I just hadn't seen him do it in a couple weeks. If people have been saying that I hadn't noticed/wouldn't know. It just seemed to me, a very casual viewer, that it seemed like they had moved away from the "King of Swing"/him doing it every match or teasing it every match. And frankly, I can't see Cesaro deciding not to do it except if someone talked to him about it.
  19. I feel like two things hurt Cesaro, the first being that I think someone decided to go back on the whole "it's okay for heels to get cheered" which seems to have led to the elimination of the swing from Cesaro's offense. Secondly, the WWE is just far too heel heavy at the moment and the faces they do have are simply not over enough to carry feuds. I'm not saying that he couldn't carry an angle if he was given one but without he's the kinda wrestler that is really hurt by the lack of wrestling to be in contention to titles, especially without the swing.
  20. Cleveland getting the #1 pick was actually showing that there isn't anything wrong with the lottery since it shows that a team with a low chance of winning the lottery can still do it. And the changes have nothing to do with the fairness of the lottery. It's simply to make tanking less appealing to teams.
  21. First look at Arrow Season 3 Spoilers if you haven't finished season 2. I know this could be said for almost every show on television today but I want a chronological Arrow when this is all said and done. [i apparently went brain dead when it comes to posting YouTube links.]
  22. Couple new sales: Top Shelf's SDCC Sale which I'm completely not qualified to comment on, the seemingly weekly Grimm Fairy Tales Sale, and an Avengers/A+X Sale. Unless you really want to own the issues in the Avengers/A+X sale, you'd probably be better off spending the 99 cents an issue would cost on the month of Marvel Unlimited.
  23. I was looking at that, and the individual issues are on sale. The problem is the collections are cheaper than buying every single issue with the discount. The worst thing about DC sales is that they tend to never put the collections on sale with the single issues. Still their sales have improved a lot from how they used to be. They used to offer up the most random issues under whatever theme they had for the sale.
