  1. Shocked to see that John Tavares announced his retirement today. Oh, you mean the OTHER John Tavares? Gotcha.
  2. Just ordered my Mets playoff strip. Let's Go Mets!
  3. Sabres have apparently been one of the teams who inquired about getting Patrick Kane. This is just about the worst idea ever because there seems like a good chance he is headed to prison, and even if he gets off you know if he comes home he will get into serious trouble eventually. He is not worth it no matter how good a player he is.
  4. If it wasn't for Mike Soccia I would've been at game 1 of the World Series that year with my dad (were Mets STH's). I was at both game 4 and 5 so I care, fuck the Dodgers.
  5. Another note on Arbour that people forget is that he came out of retirement in the early 90's and if it wasn't for what is probably the dirtiest play in league history he could've easily won a 5th cup. The win over the Pens was actually the last series the Isles have won which is Bengals level postseason futility.
  6. Which is pretty much damning with faint praise (after Scotty we really didn't have a sustained period of success with one coach until Ruff).
  7. Thanks Nats bullpen!!! 6.5 as we head to September. Will not feel relief until it is a 10 game lead with 9 to go.
  8. Come on Cardinals! edit: and of course they shit the bed. Fucking Cardinals.
  9. I'm buying my Mets playoff tickets on Wednesday so we are now officially doomed #doomandgloom #traumatizedfrom07and08
  10. Here's one for our German experts (Im looking at you Riese!): With the Bundesliga now being on FS1 I've now started to follow it. I'm trying to find a team to support but don't know much about German soccer. My question is who should I support? Don't want to support Bayern or one of the top teams (1860 Munich would be an option but iirc they are in the 2nd division). Kinda partial to Hertha because of the stories of how their fans who were in the prison that was East Berlin struggled to follow their club. Also kinda like Wolfsburg because they play in green and their badge looks like the New England Whalers one sans the harpoon. But any advice would be welcomed.
  11. Great one in Muschnick's Post column from a reader: " In NYC smoking pot only gets you a ticket, but it's a ticket to a Knicks game."
  12. Metro manhandled the scum tonight but to be fair to them they were playing a man down for the entire match. That's actually not true, they just played like it. Boy are they crap!
  13. Saw Motley Crue and Alice Cooper a few weeks ago at Barclays. Fun show, so sad this is it for Motley as they are one of my all time faves. Alice was amazing and is a true legend. The Scorpions and Queensrych play Barclays next month and Judas Fucking Priest plays Pru Center in November. Priest is just so great live, if you get the chance to see them go.
  14. There are about 6 billion people on this planet and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one listening to a Matchbook Romance album right now.
  15. 62 Mets probably had a better last month than both the 07 and 08 Mets. Remember going down to DC with my dad both those years only to see the Nats crush us. That's why it would mean so much to me to beat them for the division.
  16. That's true but we Mets fans are pretty leery of any tempting of fate considering the last two times we were in this position ended up as Hindenburg level disasters.
  17. CDN is 75% of USD so it should be more but the Jays prices are almost double the Mets which amazed me. On a weird side note a large cup of Tim Hortons in Canada costs less in CDN money than a medium cup in NYC costs in US funds.
  18. I still think my idea of allowing teams to use war elephants like Hannibal to try and block the kick was better.
  19. The Jays started selling them to season ticket holders last week Wow those prices. By comparison cheapest Mets strip is $740 US for whole playoffs. WC/NLDS are $42 per game, $50 for NLCS and $125 for WS. And Rogers holds about 10,000 more people than Citi to boot.
  20. The Jays started selling them to season ticket holders last week All teams currently in the lead or within a certain distance of the playoffs are required by MLB to begin selling playoff tickets by a certain date. True but the Mets are dangling postseason access to get people to put down deposits for next year which feels like inviting the collapse. But actually the real reason we are doomed is because Mike Francessa said we are a lock to win the division.
  21. The Mets are pushing postseason ticket access so you know we are doomed.
  22. At least the Argos lost tonight so we didn't lose ground there.
