  1. She must have sneezed in front of Vince.

    RIP, Prince

Really, truly love the Dirty Mind and Controversy albums. All of his releases had integrity, even if some were more esoteric and occasionally a far cry from the funk-based pop with searing guitar that brought him to the limelight than others ('sup The Rainbow Children...which I do own). I'll miss him.
  3. I'm not sure if the worst thing about that Extreme Rules logo is if it's a blatant ripoff of the classic Pancrase logo, the crooked R, or the fact that the NW quadrant of the X is mostly empty save for the small WWE logo.
  4. Oh, so it's just a hysterical strawman argument with no basis in reality then. Move along, everyone.
  5. Feel the HYPE for Battleborn (found outside of a GAME store in the UK)!
  6. Shane's reversal into a Sharpshooter was certainly a highlight of my evening.
  7. There is no "general viewer" of NXT. It's completely marketed towards fans of wrestling, most of whom actively follow other promotions/Japan. They aren't trying to tap into the Total Divas viewership. That you find it "really lazy" that they don't hype up people who are already known by the vast majority fanbase, when you are the one who can't be bothered to watch any wrestling that isn't on the WWE Network or RAW, is rather telling. Bobby Roode just showing up at ringside not doing anything for you doesn't matter, because you aren't their core audience. Deal.
  8. I was pleasantly surprised by the result. Rioli was an absolute beast for the Hawks.
  9. Really, truly enjoyed every match on the card. Not often I can say that about any show - when a solid match like Aries vs. Corbin is arguably the weakest, and it's still really freaking good, you know you have something special. I had butterflies in my stomach as Nakamura made his entrance. Then the match lived up to the hype and was even better than I'd thought capable. And it was both Shinsuke and Sami bringing it - the early striking exchanges that busted Nakamura open, the subsequent agitated kicks/stomps from him in reaction to being bloodied, then the retaliation from Sami (showing an aggressive vein in which he needed to tap if he wanted to win this)...everything was so ON POINT. Asuka brought Bayley back down to earth with her relentless offense executed with relentless precision, and in doing so proved that her tag of Empress is more than just clever marketing. One has to wonder if some of the confidence that Bayley had previously-displayed as the ace of NXT has eroded somewhat, and can she vanquish those doubts to mount a legitimate challenge? This is a much better story and character arc for both women than I had initially-foreseen. Balor brought a sense of purpose to the Demon big match character that had been lacking, but Joe was absolutely IMMENSE, in every sense of the word. A loss hasn't hurt him here at all, and he earned every right to a rematch down the road. I love pro-wrestling.
  10. Bayley isn't getting called up right away (where exactly would she fit in at this point?), and I agree with JCM/nofuture. I picture her narrowly retaining due to some chicanery from one of Nia Jax or Emma/Dana after Asuka looks to have initially secured the victory. Asuka snaps after the match and attacks Bayley when the latter goes for a post-match hug or something, and also singles out the interloper for revenge. Boom, you've got an angle for either a rematch or a three-way contest for the title at the next big event. Bayley remains in the sympathetic face/underdog role even as a successfully-defending champion, Asuka is a scary tweener (who can easily be turned back to face once Bayley is eventually called up), the interfering heel has mad heat for fucking up what until that point was a great contest.
  11. Won't be terribly grand if you're a Hawthorn fan, as they are currently missing 10(!) players through injury, with captain Luke Hodge having suffered a broken forearm in the last round that will see him out of action for six weeks. They actually fielded a player last round who had never even seen a minute of NAB Challenge action last week.
  12. Always have to get the last word in, right.
  13. Nice bleeding-heart strawman argument about creeper fans, which has fuck all to do with why fans dislike Reigns. He also said this: The average viewer of WWE programming is 41.4 years old. Spare the THINK OF THE CHILDREN! bullshit.
  14. More and more, it seems like Reigns is someone who's in the business solely because his plans at making it as a football player fell through and it just happens to be an industry in which he has family connections. Interviews like this one seem to highlight as much. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/os-roman-reigns-wwe-20160327-story.html "If you boo me, you're being a bad role model for kids". LOL. He doesn't get it, and doesn't sound like he ever will.
  15. "the new Bo Dallas", what a world
  16. Kudos to Curtis Axel for wishing a happy birthday to his dad. Sami Zayn might not be completely dead in the water after all, but the jury is still out. Everything else was whatever.
  17. I've only caught one match so far: Western Bulldogs throat-punched Fremantle early on and never gave them a chance to recover. About as one-sided a contest as you'll ever see in the AFL.
  18. Mir has been KOed by lesser strikers, and hasn't exhibited much of his vaunted ground game since breaking Nog's arm in 2011. Since his fight with JDS, he seems to rely way too much on his just-decent striking to attempt to set up a clinch to bring the fight to where he wants it, with mixed success. I don't see it as an easy fight for Hunt by any means, but I'd say the current betting odds putting him as a slight favorite at -170 is a fair reflection of their recent performances.
  19. I closely follow the Eredivisie (Dutch roots), usually catch the Ajax match on the week plus any other match ups between teams competing for the other CL spot/Europa League places. Sometimes I'll watch the Jong Ajax matches in Eerste Divisie.
