  1. The story I always heard was that Yeti was originally supposed to be Gonzalez in a similar outfit to his WWF one. It fell through and we got a mummy, but the name stayed for inexplicable WCW reasons.
  2. I know I always bridge when I'm getting my head driven into the ground.
  3. Man, fuck that, Tazz going over Angle was the right call and a great debut. They just didn't do anything with him after that.
  4. This isn't the first time I've heard this and I don't know where it's coming from. They seem to just be building up to a Swagger-Bo match at NOC to continue Bo's push. I like the idea of him having a follower, but a freshly turned Swagger who's been getting great reactions from the crowd would be a bad place to start.
  5. Well yeah. He's being booked to win and get a title shot. What exactly is it that would make you say "that was a good booking decision?" Nothing less than Cesaro beating Cena clean as a sheet? If they're running Cena-Brock II at NOC (and I don't think they should, but they are), it stands to reason that after Brock squashed Cena at Summerslam that they need to sell Cena having some kind of chance against the unstoppable monster.
  6. Interesting word choice because the first time I recall this happening was when Test fell off the face of the earth in late 99/early 2000 after the Steph turn. He was getting huge reactions and had a built-in feud with HHH and was made to play second banana to Vince of all people instead. You were saying? A main event loss on Raw to the top star in the company (who needs to be booked strong to look like a credible challenger to Brock) isn't a de-push. What was it you were saying about Cesaro?
  7. I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be so impressed by that Canadian Destroyer, it's even more business exposing than that move usually is.
  8. Did I travel back in time ten years? Is it really necessary to list the various people HHH put over huge and is still putting over huge?
  9. But he isn't the only exception. They have gotten a number of people over - they just aren't the people you would like them to utilize. Rusev, Swagger, Brie, Miz, and the Usos are all being made to look strong or are getting better reactions than they were at the beginning of the year, but they aren't DVDVR darlings so it isn't considered "good booking." Brock is in the middle of the biggest heel push in the history of the company and the only bad thing anyone has had to say about it is "He will probably lose to Cena at NOC so I will preemptively shit on it." I don't see how anyone can have a problem with the way the former Shield members are being booked. They've all come off like huge stars. The idea that Ambrose is somehow not being pushed is ludicrous.
  10. This is so dismissive, and it flies in the face of what is demonstrably true: All those guys Niners mentioned have absolutely cooled off. You can defend Bray's booking all you want, but in January, he, Harper, and Rowan were incredibly hot, and in August, Bray was struggling to draw heat while trying to get a win back against Chris Jericho. The Rhodes Brothers have massively cooled off. Cesaro looked like the next big face in March, and now he's trading wins with Jack Swagger and RVD. The only reason we got the WM that we got in the first place is that the fans essentially hijacked every show on the road to WM until the company was forced to do what the fans wanted, so I guess the fans actually did know better than the company. Self-congratulatory much? Anyone that thinks they're more responsible for the success of WM than the creative team is, for lack of a better term, a mark. While there is room for improvement and always will be, this "the product is in the toilet just because Bryan is injured and Punk is gone and the sky is falling" stuff is completely out of control.
  11. A heel being built up so that he can lose and it'll matter in the future? Holy shit, this is unprecedented stuff! Yeah, a lot of this seems like looking for stuff to complain about. Big Show, for example, has barely even been on TV this year.
  12. Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke, Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler. The Four Horsewomen.
  13. Did Big Show ever bother to go after Brock again after he got the shit beat out of him with a chair at the Rumble? Because Show would actually make sense as a challenger.
  14. This is basically why I didn't enjoy the match as much as everyone else - all the lumberjacks looked like complete idiots for not keeping them in the ring. I get the "they're too wild to contain!!!!!" stuff, it just doesn't make sense in the context of the match without making the entire midcard look like shit. Ambrose leaping into the middle of over a dozen people and somehow making every one of them fall down and sell didn't really help matters.
  15. Hearty recommendations for you all to check out the new Cymbals Eat Guitars album, LOSE, which is streaming over at NPR, and is great: http://www.npr.org/2014/08/10/338019046/first-listen-cymbals-eat-guitars-lose?autoplay=true
  16. It seems pretty clear that he wasn't, and this is actually the first time I've heard it suggested that he was fired for other reasons. This is the exact booking that devalued the Wyatts. Vic's the only one saying that, and he's a notorious curmudgeon.
  17. I think we can all get through this without wishing death on anyone.
  18. Where are all of those Beefcake defenders that came out of the woodwork not too long ago? I would definitely listen to an argument that Beefcake is better than Jerry Lynn.
  19. I knew there was a reason I never got into ECW. Very disturbing.
  20. The Layla/Summer stuff is so useless. There isn't any real blowoff they could be building to, Fandango looks weak for continually being distracted, the faces look weak for needing help to beat Fandango, and Layla and Summer are supposed to be faces but come off looking like the vindictive ex-girlfriends that we all probably have one or two of. The camera angle of AJ laid out was awesome, much better than the camera being in the perfect place for what is supposed to be a surprise attack. I hate the whole "pretend the cameras aren't right there in your face" thing. Miz's current character could benefit a lot from looking directly into the camera and talking shit on his way out after costing Dolph the match.
  21. The Cesaro "You can't wrestle" stuff didn't bother me because kayfabe-wise he was just trying to get in Cena's head by bringing up something the crowd used to chant at him. I don't remember the last time I heard a crowd actually chanting that at Cena, because nobody that pays attention could possibly still think that Cena isn't a great wrestler. Oh
  22. One can only hope, but someone already made it.
