  1. If we were to do an All NBA No Defence team for the season so far, would the entire team consist of Lakers? Boozer is such a shithouse.
  2. There is not one single sports franchise that makes yearly entries worthwhile on a consistent basis, either. They're becoming more and more like roster patches with a new online mode. It's pretty apparent with all the missing creation modes in the new WWE game that it too is a rush job and a great example of releasing a game because of the annual cycle. It's weird but more companies should do what EA *Sideshow Bob rake noise* has done with UFC. Avoid the yearly cycle and provide extensive post-release support. That game is hardly a paragon of great game production (first and foremost no created fighting sharing) but at least they're not releasing one next year and have done a good job of updating some of the roster and addressing community complaints/balancing issues with patches.
  3. I hope, I reeeaally hope this is the first crack in the "rush out yearly titles even if they're hot messes" franchise production but I doubt it.
  4. "What the hell is that drunk thinking?!"
  5. Melvin takes the Nestea plunge. We'll always have Cyborg vs. Melvin.
  6. So what does Bellator do now after the golden boy lost for the third time straight? More Tito?
  7. Hahahahahahahahaha, that cannot be unseen.
  8. Plus, it seems like he's in the early stages of Nick Cage bird hair. And he has Miz frog eyes. Fuck that guy. Even heels with storied careers didn't put themselves over as much as Riley does on commentary. All these dream Stone Cold return scenarios, I think mine would be if he rode out on his ATV in Orlando, gave Riley five stunners, drank some Steveweisers and that was the last we saw of Riley. Ever.
  9. Yeah, Cornette has had a bunch of great shows the last few months. I really enjoyed his interview with the two French Canadian wrestling historians Pat Laprade and Bertrand Hebert from September too. He's getting better at letting his guests talk rather than cutting them off and go an a spiel going over long historical blurbs rather than letting the guests cover that ground. Even his intros are becoming more compact and concise. He kept the Mitch McConnell diatribe to a minimum even after that droopy faced asshole won last week. While I believe he's politically naive (his reverence for near all things Democratic Party mostly), I generally agree with his criticisms of the GOP, so those intros may be less grating to me than other politically inclined listeners. Anyway, the Lance Russell episode is probably my favourite of his series so far and I will be listening to part 2 with bells on. The bit when Lance's dogs start barking and he talks about them missing their queue was just so Lance and so perfect. What a great man. Jim Ross has stepped his game up big time too the past while. He's letting his guests get their shit in, asking far fewer leading questions, being less miserable in tone, and minimizing his intros and trimming down on repetitive complaints. This week's episode with Alex Greenfield was interesting because Alex wouldn't shut the fuck up and JR couldn't get a word in once Alex got started. It was pretty funny listening to JR's tone change and get more frustrated as the show went on. The big thing to come out of that interview was that Greenfield stated Dunn undermined JR (shock) and he was likely the person behind JR's gradual marginalization and dismissal. But, shit, we aren't allowed to make negative comments about Kevin Dunn because IWC sheep or some such thing.
  10. The best and most hilarious part in such a surprisingly wicked and radical movie. The thumbs up is second. Fuck, I love that movie. I know it's not the original intent of the thread starter, but even things like long takes are so rare these days that they stand out big time when they do happen. Like some of the takes in No Country For Old Men were incredible because they let the scene breathe without ridiculous cuts and editing.
  11. I hope this is the start of an earnest Tyson Kidd push. He looked fantastic and damn near stole the show in a match with Cesaro and Dolph. Three weeks running with shitty, flat main events on Smackdown with Kane.
  12. Nah, dawg, the other video he posted. Bray and Harper doing the Funkadactyls entrance with Uso shorts and pom poms. The triple threat match was neat too though.
  13. After watching a bunch of the videos Troma mentioned yesterday and this one you've posted, I'm with you in that I'm a little disappointed with the portions of the gameplay and accouterments but there is a noticeable improvement. Perhaps not as big of a jump as I was expecting, particularly when they slashed so much stuff from the last version in making the jump. It would seem the biggest difference in gameplay is the stamina system. Another nice thing is there seems to be a great deal more of transition animations and little touches like guys actually grabbing opponents to hit moves rather than just transporting into them. Cena setting up the AA is a good example of that. Also, why does long hair on men look way more realistic than the women's? That's so weird.
  14. *wipes a tear from my eye* A thing of beauty, sir. It even has the voiceover guy from the WWF New Generation era. That man is incredible.
  15. Fuck the Alex Riley. Other than that hack shitbag, what a sweet, sweet hour of pro-wrestling. Tyson Kidd is just firing on all cylinders, Itami and Balor are bad asses, Sasha is incredibly hot right now growing leaps and bounds every month it seems, and that main event was so perfect in every which way. They didn't have the all out, PPV style match they have in them but it was the perfect TV match and the storytelling was top-notch. People complain, rightfully so, that WWE is thin on stars but it's their own doing. They have such a ridiculous pool of talent to work with. The fact that there are maybe a handful of over guys in the company is ludicrous.
  16. Yeah, TSN's own NBA broadcasts come off like it's still 1994.
  17. Erick Rowan's li'l brother goes over the HUD, controls, and the stamina system with lots of footage of gameplay. The fatigued movements look so good. I like how the stamina drain isn't universal and big boys like Show and Henry will tire quicker than Kofi or Cesaro.
  18. I just watched the second rope piledriver. Can you imagine how many heads would roll if somebody pulled that today? The execution was a little awkward in that Roadie had to kind of land on his feet to break the fall then fall backwards but still... WHUTAMANEUVER, PAL. I know Benoit used to break out the top rope tombstone and powerbomb in Japan, but didn't he do the top rope tombstone in WCW at one point?
  19. 1997 is my favourite year of wrestling (at least in a North American context) of the post-territory era. Lots of breakout moments with the likes of Austin, Bret at his best, Vince pushing the envelope, and some really fantastic matches. I think the final 4 match was my favourite for a long while as a li'l kid because of the chaos, neat match concept, and having 4 of my favourites in the same match. A wild brawl being Vader's best match in this run makes sense and I do remember him being a standout in this match and the match vs. 'Taker in Calgary in what was one of the WWF's best PPVs ever.
  20. Ah, I also should've mentioned that Adam Ryland's game this year over at GDS is World of Mixed Martial Arts 4. While I would've preferred a new TEW, I think the WMMA games are more accessible to new users and it's easier to lose oneself in a long-term game as there isn't as much micro management. There's a developer diary that lists many of the new features here. Demo is out December 2nd, full game December 9th. Looks pretty good if not a bit unspectacular in the announced features.
  21. How does OKC have more wins than the Nuggets at this point (2 to 1)? Maybe firing George Karl wasn't a good idea?
