  1. Quick edit: Marty posted as I was typing this! Drew MacIntyre was straight-up given the work/shoot gimmick of being Vince McMahon's "chosen one." I remember he was even in the WWE All Stars vdeo game, which was definitely weird as he hadn't done much in his career at all by then. Then he had a very big, very public fight with Taryn Terrell (his the fiancee) and all that "chosen one" stuff was gone. Job duty, some NXT, then 3MB, then he was out of the company. Now he bores us to death on the indies working big guy/little guy matches strictly out of necessity because he just happens to be bigger than most indy guys.
  2. I didn't understand the "Circles within Circles" line but Cueto also snuck in "return of the Mack" which was great. He also made me LOL with "ooooooh spooooky" when Sineistro left the ring.
  3. Right but you can't say "WWE doesn't understand supply and demand" and then point to the 3 hour Raws as an example when, in that instance, it's being mandated by the network. I mean, yes, they definitely don't understand supply and demand, but that example in particular is incorrect. I'll give you house shows, though. How can they be making their money back when playing to 1/4 full buildings? Clearly demand to see WWE SUPERSTARS LIVE is waning.
  4. It's always been a prop. Flair dropped the supposedly sacred belt spur-of-the-moment once or twice to local yokels in foreign countries to avoid riots. He wasn't thinking of the sacrosanct lineage of Gotch and Hackenschmidt when dudes were throwing rocks at him and trying to jump the barricades.
  5. LOL That would be a good way to change the ending while saving face. It could also add a new wrinkle to the story to hint that Roland has been through all this before, many times, and he has vague memories of the past(s) like deja vu, instead of the way King did it, which was to just spring it on us because he couldn't think of anything better and just wanted the damn thing done. Just, please, keep King far away from the creation of the new ending. The ending of the Dark Tower legit ruined King for me. He was one of my favorite writers before that but after...not so much.
  6. I think you're wrong about that one...here's the actual move done correctly and Daniels barely touches the recipient's head/neck/shoulder. They guy is just doing a backflip assisted by Kazarian: If Daniels was out of position in this video, it's clear the guy taking the move would have landed on his feet or his chest. It's pretty clear Liger just didn't get the rotation on it he was supposed to for some reason. I don't want to turn this into Jim Garrison watching the Zapruder film, just saying.
  7. Not wrestling-related but still one of the weirdest pieces of merch I've seen
  8. How big are these buildings? Those are some sad numbers for WWE. How long until they're back to playing the Cape Cod Melody Tent?
  9. I'm not sure how it's supposed to be his fault; the recipient of the move is essentially doing a backflip like when you counter a belly to back suplex and land on your feet. If I'm tasked to blame anyone, I'm blaming the guy who is over 50, not as light or spry as he used to be, and maybe can't go up for moves like he could in the old days. But who knows? Maybe Kazarian didn't push him enough to get him through the rotation. Maybe Liger had a brain fart and thought he was being suplexed the same way muscle memory kicks in and guys tuck their chins on the Styles Clash. Whatever, it's hard to assign blame from a 5 second gif. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  10. I forgot all about the Russo debacle. She fought, to the detriment of the company, every single person who suggested cutting ties with him. Then he left anyway. It reminds me of the time Frankie Kazarian quit WWE because he didn't want to cut his hair, then he ended up cutting it later anyway.
  11. I desperately want to see someone win a PWG match with a Falcon Arrow.
  12. Search out Patton Oswalt's account of the filming. It's amazing. The best part is how Wesley gave up on the movie, stayed in his trailer smoking weed the whole time, and just did all his closeups, letting his stand-in handle all the rest of the filming.
  13. Back when I was on Zoloft, I should have used the I FORGOT MY MEDICATIONS gambit more often.
  14. They actually recorded one with Ahmed Johnson as well but it drove six closed captioning workers clinically insane.
  15. If she's following her husband's workout and supplement regimen, it's not outside the realm of possibility that this book title is a true statement.
  16. And now you know.......the rest of the story.
  17. I remember being at a house show, lower concourse first row by the entrance when Bret walked within a few feet of my friends and I and it hit me how big the guy really was. Michaels was 6'1" and in the low 200s when he was part of the "small, high-flying" Rockers. Perfect was immense compared to a lot of today's guys like Balor, Enzo, Aries, Styles, etc.
  18. Yeah. I think Excalibur in PWG was the first to call it that. Maybe it's a play on words and is supposed to sound vaguely like "yukuza."
  19. I heard Becky Lunch's song being played before a faceoff at a Caps game. I can't stand Donavan Dijak. He looks like someone Johnny Ace would have snapped up with the quickness while perusing the International Male catalog around 2003. A slightly skinnier but just as bland version of early oughts Mark Jindrak.
  20. It's not Cole's fault; the move has been called, and pronounced that way, that since the El Generico days. Except in ROH, which will not abide such silliness, and just called it a Yukuza kick.
  21. It's cool how ROH finally got around to changing J. Diesel's name when they finally realized two "Jay's" is already one too many, much less three.
  22. Now I can't stop wondering if Randy did the Macho Man voice during lovemaking. That is horrifying.
