  1. That's cool because I wanted to upload a photo or two from when I was at the AEW show in March, but couldn't make the board link to my Flickr.
  2. Marina was lost and Jade had no idea how to keep things together. A total mess.
  3. I saw Inepsy once, they were fucking great.
  4. don't forget winking cheap heat sports insults and calling the crowd hillbillies/inbred.
  5. That would be my vote but since I’ve only seen the AEW matches and don’t want to take time to watch the rest, I’m abstaining.
  6. Discovered yesterday that I actually get AXS on my DirecTV (redid the favorites a couple years ago and didn’t include it and promptly forgot it), and discovered today that I can watch the last few episodes of NJPW World on demand for free, so I’m going to familiarize myself with some of these names in the next couple of weeks before the PPV. Last time I saw any NJPW was the height of Omega and the Bucks a few years ago.
  7. My feeling was that their styles didn’t mesh at all and once things got a little awkward Rosa got heated and said “fuck it, if you can’t give me anything to work with I’m just not going to try”
  8. I agree with @NoFistsJustFlipsthat there were a few too many near fall kick outs in Stat-Red, in particular the one mentioned following the pendulum German and followup move. That was a killer combo that should not be kicked out of, finisher be damned. what could be interesting for Stat would be to do a promo or interview where she leans into being the biggest, strongest woman in the division. Just says “I realized one day that I’m bigger than all the other women in AEW, I’m stronger than all the other women in AEW, and now it’s time to use that to prove I’m BETTER than all the other women in AEW”
  9. Main event was great, I expected Trent to be in there to eat the pin so was pleasantly shocked when he got the win! I think they’re building to someone like a 10-man or even 12-man at Forbidden Door with UE vs. FTR, Roppongi Vice, and...is Orange Cassidy healed? Maybe some Chaos guys? also when did FTR lose the AAA belts? I think Stat-Velvet was my match of the night. When it started, I was actually fine with Stat squashing, then it turned into a fire competitive match with Stat wrestling like a giant. She needs a singles belt. Anna Jay doing a run-in against 2 baddies and putting on the Queenslayer...bless her heart. I hate that move, it doesn’t look like a convincing submission anyway and then to use that on a run-in. Someone help her develop some kind of big strike or kick. Singh hitting 3 big moves while squashing local enhancement is a good use for him right now. I enjoyed the opener, I do agree that maybe Eddie is a little too giving. I already shared my opinion on Hager, but he ate a clean pin so that was good. The Hookhausen segment was good stuff. I need Hook’s ride for my work, although I’d want the cab enclosed with heat and AC. Those things get hot riding around Texas scrub country in 100 degree heat.
  10. He did nothing for me and there are a dozen big men in AEW who are more talented. That said, the match was a decent brawl.
  11. Cole is the monkey paw we get for all the good things that the promotion has done in 2022.
  12. 18 million each for exit fees, paid off over 14 years. They'll make that much extra in the Big 12 in the 2 years of the current TV deal and GOR, assuming that the networks don't try and cut their payments when UT and OU leave (which may be as early as next year).
  13. There was a lot of young talent with a mix of high flyers like Three Count , Jung Dragons, AJ Styles, Air Paris, and Chris Daniels, and bigger guys like Jindrak, O'Haire, and Palumbo. Then you had guys like Scott Steiner, Booker T, and Kanyon who were established vets who shined when actually allowed to wrestle to their abilities.
  14. It’s weird seeing Waterburger outside of Texas (since I don’t think Lard Lad is in the Lone Star state today). I’m a fan, my go-to is the Whatachicken strips or bites with cream gravy. Comes with a buttery piece of Texas toast and a mess of fries. Get some spicy ketchup and some regular ketchup (the best fast food ketchup). Wash it down with a Diet Dr. Pepper to keep the calorie count under 1500. I’m excited to see Jake Hager in a singles match, and excited for Eddie to beat the shit out of him. Don’t really know what to expect from the rest of the card. Won’t be drunk and surly though as I’m on antibiotics and tomorrow is only day 2.5.
  15. They're out there, I liked them but didn't love them like I did Kindred and the Parable books. Also, if you didn't know, they're making an Amazon series "Wild Seed" with Viola Davis involved, and Nnedi Okorafor co-writing the pilot script (and I think more)
  16. I think it is fair to say that making time to keep ROH in the wrestling public's mind AND building to an inter-promotional PPV was already a big challenge AND THEN your new champion gets hurt and has to miss a few months. If/when ROH gets a new home, and the Forbidden Door is shut for a while, things will settle down a bit. Unless Vince fires a bunch more WWE/NXT people ?
  17. While it maybe made sense in terms of Swerve's character, if they really are breaking them up it has the WWE feel of "shit, these guys are hotter than the guys we're pushing for the titles, we need to split them NOW"
  18. Here I was the outlier who hated last week’s Rampage and am now the outlier who loved just about everything about tonight. Hell, Marina Shafir even got some heat and didn’t look completely out of place. It set up some fun matches for the next couple weeks and the PPV. The main event was so good and it’s because KOR went stiff shot for stiff shot with MOX. The PAC-Buddy match was so good because they’re almost the same guy and style. The only things I didn’t like are them running back so many angles (Cole-Page, Bucks-JE-Hardys, HOB-DT) and even teasing a break-up of Swerve in the Glory...UNLESS they pair Dante-Lee.
  19. Excited for this as I think PAC is fantastic and I've only seen Buddy as part of the trios matches so far but a lot of people here are excited about him and he's shown some great glimpses of being able to keep up with PAC.
  20. Yes, apparently a shoulder injury. I was going to joke that he lost his smile.
  21. I have a similar memory of those dying days. I thought 3 Count was a great gimmick with excellent wrestlers.
  22. Obviously, they told him he needed to stop larding out so the AEW title will look better around his waist.
