  1. Baylor returning to Earth was inevitable and I’m glad it’s finally happening, that program should’ve been given the fucking death penalty and instead they were allowed to basically skate free. I still refuse to spend a dime in Waco or McLennan County because of how they covered up all those rapes.
  2. They already missed their chance to cash in on "Let's Go Brandon"
  3. I'm in Phoenix for a 3 day training in being a more successful supervisor and team lead, so between the time zones and the networking I likely won't be seeing this until Friday.
  4. He was fairly tolerable in his WCW pre-cholo days, and then he got shittier and shittier as he leaned on catchphrases and crap signature moves.
  5. This is just one of those moves that defines why I love the true art of professional wrestling. Like an airplane spin is like a century old finisher. But when you have The Boys on the outside spinning along it becomes the Bangarang and it’s awesome. Tangentially, is there a move called the Tilde Bang~! Yet?
  6. I’d be fine with that being Shawn Spears gimmick as long as I don’t have to see him in AEW again.
  7. That was my immediate thought after reading @Dolfan in NYC's post
  8. I saw that live and it didn’t seem like a designed play, more like a fully busted play that turned into a lucky find.
  9. In this case, it’s reacting to years of neglect and a multi-million dollar lawsuit.
  10. Well, Jimbo isn’t creative.
  11. Guess I no longer have to worry about Bray Wyatt’s corny shit showing up in AEW.
  12. 49-0, could easily have been 63.
  13. I'm pretty much with @Matt D, they really needed to give us some kind of babyface wins here. Lucha Brothers don't need belts at this point, and the Dark Order needs one big moment before you break them up for good, and THIS was that one big moment and they fucked it up. Have Pac go for the hammer, someone stop him, and he eats a pin, new champs and the crowd loses it. Then, in the AA-title, he gets the hammer with no one stop him and wins by Systematic Cheating Sports Entertainment. Likewise, Willow-Jade. You're telling a story that Willow has improved tremendously while Jade is taking her for granted. And yet The Baddies only get involved to be a base for Willow's tope. The story here should be Jade being pushed to the limit because of her arrogance and having to rely on Systematic Cheating Sports Entertainment. At least FTR-Gates of Agony had a good story and finish and built GoA as a monster threat. They advertised an Austin show in December, and last night didn't sell me on the $150 in tickets, parking, and merch/food/beer expenses.
  14. Rampage kinda sucked eggs due to bad booking and some sloppy matches outside of the BCC opener. Battle of the Belts tried, but we didn't really need 50 minutes of Pac and Jade getting a clean win.
  15. Appears no one is watching (understandably) but a Nebraska RB (on a pass) knocked a Rutgers DB unconscious with what would’ve been called a targeting if it had been the reverse. Lowered his head, launched, and hit helmet to helmet in an attempt to hurt the DB.
  16. https://redparakeet.bandcamp.com/album/we-got-soul-history-lesson-part-ii here you have a split 7” with Mike Watt and a band covering The Big Boys “We Got Soul”, and Up Around the Sun (Tim Kerr’s old-time “not bluegrass” duo) covering The Minutemen’s “History Lesson Part II” with a huge number of people each apparently singing a line (which sounds exactly like something Tim would do). Guest vocalists include Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Ian MacKaye, Eric Friedl (The Oblivians, Goner Records), Cait O’Riordan (Pogues), John Doe (X), Lee Bains, Spot (legendary SST producer), Tim and his wife Beth, and a bunch of his friends.

    LIVE MUSIC 2022

Black Flag is Ginn, skateboarder Mike Vallery, and a couple of young dudes. Flag is Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena, Bill Stephenson, and Stephen Egerton. I saw the latter at Fun Fun Fun/Sound on Sound and it was great. I’d go for TSOL (I think that’s almost all original lineup still) and Dickies and probably split after the third late era 8-minute long Black Flag song.
  18. I don’t think these takes are mutually exclusive in this situation, especially since Sammy has a history as well.
  19. One thing the WWE tampering has been successful at is stirring up shit in the AEW locker rooM

    LIVE MUSIC 2022

Apparently the “Dead Boys” kicked off their tour in Austin to 75 people. It was supposed to be Cheetah Chrome and one other member, who no-showed and they had to scramble to find a drummer like 2 hours before the show. and then on Instagram I saw that “Flipper” is touring, with Mike Watt on vocals, and playing the punk rock coffee shop. Like I said, every band, no matter how washed up or how few original members are alive or in the band, are touring right now (and charging too much money).
  21. Dang it I totally forgot that, was pretty tired after a long day.
  22. Holy shit MJF can actually wrestle?! Some points were a little indyrific but also I think a nod to them coming up together. End angle was a little weird, but Regal with knucks will always get me to mark. Lethal-Darby, as Dean noted, was shocking in that Darby did not try to kill himself multiple times. Fun match, Lethal is very good in his current role and I think I’m ok with him breaking away from Dutt and Singh, as long as he doesn’t become a face. Wardlow-Cage was, to me, more competitive than it should have been considering that Cage has been gone for more than a year other than those token ROH appearances. Still athletic hoss vs. athletic hoss meant some wild stuff, and having a guy like Cage to base for Wardlow doing insane springboard whatever-the-fuck-he-did helps. Coach Tony has perhaps read our missives to turn the TNT title into a hoss belt for a while. And bonus is War-Joe vs. Gates of Agony, hoss tag team brawl!!! The Acclaimed are so incredibly over, it’s unreal. I loved this segment, it was funny, it was weird, Bowens was amazing on the politicians speech promo (Sneaky Swerve), Caster did some preaching, it built to a rematch. The Sterling stuff was a little predictable and I didn’t love it, but I guess they decided the fans wouldn’t go home happy without the big moves. Women’s trios was phenomenal, Ford looked way better than I think I’ve ever seen her. Willow is over, and so glad she finally got her big win! The aftermath with Saraya and Britt tried to overshadow the match though. Willow-Jade III, will they finally pull a surprise switch? Rush-Page was hard-hitting, someone pointed out how dickish Rush is with his moves and it was very true in this match. I know they had to give Page a warm-up win, and Rush is good practice for Mox, but Rush eating a clean pin seems soon. Post-match was more Mox mic magic. I did the live equivalent of leaning on the FFWD button and looked at Instagram during the Luchasaurus match and aftermath. So over this feud. Let ROH start, let Jungle Boy break free, become Jack Perry, maybe give him a run with the Pure title. Jericho did a lot of storytelling in that match, showed a real sense of being conflicted. Good match but I think I was expecting a Garcia turn so much that I was almost let down by a straight ending. And giving Garcia the pin (clean, even) in the main event of the anniversary show was sure a choice, given all the shit he’s pulled this year. Only thing I can think is, didn’t he win the main event of the first Dynamite?
