  1. It can be argued that Jericho not only sharing the fundraiser but also his own contributions could inspire other people to contribute. I’m still of the school of keeping your charity personal, but I know that in the modern online world sharing a link and leaving a note can be a big difference maker.
  2. Mox-Menard was way better than Mox-Penta. I know we’re all fans of Daddy Magic but having him get a surprise win wouldn’t work for me, he’s not at that level. This match elevated him some while also showing that Mox is a force. Still not sure how I feel about the SIOG-Acclaimed segment. I still hope the long term payoff is Keith Lee saying “fuck it” and going full monster heel. Womens match was really bad, borderline unwatchable. I liked Rayne as a partner/mentor for Skye Blue, but she’s rough in the ring. Tay peaked in that street fight with Bunny and Ford. Speaking of, that Jade segment was just her doing some impressive calisthenics while saying her same boring shit. She’s so stale, I guess the idea is to show that Nyla’s mind games aren’t working but I’d rather Jade be pissed and showing some fire. I liked the main, I liked Taven, and Wardlow is a star. If I’m AEW I worry more about losing him to WWE than I do MJF. The aftermath was a mess and made Kingdom look weak and then overshadowed. I’m excited about more Hobbs but him joining a ROH faction is a downgrade.
  3. While watching I was thinking that there’s really no one like him in AEW. I think that’s what Ethan Page could be if he would loosen up a bit and be more naturally goofy. Swerve is similar, rangy and cocky and can fly and kick but he has that Strange Style whereas Taven had a Japan/US Indy pro wrestling style.
  4. Thanks for the explanation I missed that reading the league basics.
  5. And then he gets 2 TDs in a game where he was supposed to be dropped. I was also unaware of the whole bidding for free agents things which might explain why i never get anyone good on waivers
  6. Peyton Manning had the sense to get his ring with Denver and then hang 'em up.
  7. @Gordlowa lot of that is spot on for me, and it's not just wrestling. For me to go a to concert in downtown Austin is going to mean $20 in parking (and having little to no drinks) or $60 in rides, $20-30 for a show that would've been $10-15 pre-pandemic, oh and speaking of pandemic an elevated risk of catching Covid. There's also the fact that my grocery bill is 10-15% higher now than it was back at the start of the year. I really don't think people are accounting for how much inflation is eating away at entertainment spending.
  8. I also remember a Dark Order vs. Elite tag match where Elite dressed as Ghostbusters with proton packs, Dark Order I think dressed up too but can't remember their outfits. That was one of the last times Kenny was on TV before his injury leave.
  9. I'm at the point where those super cooperative flippy spots like Code Red and the various Destroyers really need to be extremely few and far between, maybe saved for those for whom it's their signature spot. Am I turning into Cornette?
  10. He wants to be Scott Hall or the Rock but he's not going to be either of them, so maybe he needs to be more of himself.
  11. Dalton told Punk he had a right to defend himself?
  12. Loved the show minus the main event and the MJF segments, and yet all I'm doing is bitching about the things I didn't like. Opening tag was a ton of fun and Jericho eats a clean pin (but gets the heat back after with the hilarious promo about a bat in the ring being cheating). Yuta was a fucking buzzsaw, Claudio was an athletic strongman and had that awesome "take out everyone ringside" sequence, Garcia worked in some sports entertainment sells, even Hager was entertaining AF. Claudio getting 3.5 rotations on that giant swing with Garcia on his shoulders was impressive. Having the immediate post-match backstage interview was a nice new touch. I said above that FTR-SIOG is a sleeper MOTYC, far exceeded any expectations I had which were already high. Everyone had their working boots on. The closing run was so much fun, had a great build, and believable and exciting nearfalls (Lee not being flat on his back for the splash thus being able to kick out, Swerve pulling Cash after the amazing Big Rig, Dax rolling out of the ring from the imapct of the Pounce),. The ending, with Swerve and the Gunns cheating without Keith Lee being aware of what was going on, continued the SIOG dissent story and built the Gunns-FTR angle. I don't want the Acclaimed to lose the belts, but I could enjoy an angle where Keith Lee sees Swerve cheat, shrugs his shoulders, and turns monster heel. Danielson-Sammy worked well because of how it was built, and because Danielson is so incredibly well-rounded. The opening with Sammy almost getting a flash win, followed by Danielson just taking him to the mat and slowly, methodically wearing him down. Sammy did all of his usual moves (there was no pop for him landing on his feet on the attempted superplex because he ALWAYS does that) but Danielson was ready for most of them, while having his own twists that Sammy wasn't prepared for. Sammy also embraced the stiffness. Riho-Hayter was excellent as a sort of David-Goliath except that David is also a former champion. As I said, the announcers did a great job of explaining how a tiny Riho was a credible threat. Riho was also a great rag doll for Hayter's power, while Hayter was a great base for Riho's flying. I've seen a lot of people elsewhere complaining about it being too competitive, but I enjoyed the back and forth, and it's clear that AEW is taking its time with Hayter. Main wasn't bad, I'm biased but Mox was not able to bring out the best in Penta who was on auto-pilot. I liked Penta going one too many times for his taunt and Mox using that to hit his finishers and get the pin. To me, the MJF angle is a total mess, the best thing he had was being a true old school heel (even if his mic work are overrated) and even if this all ends up being a swerve, it's not particularly interesting to me.
  13. Other than their appreciation for the awesome FTR-SIOG tag, that crowd had a very WWE feel. Popped for entrances and catchphrases, cheered for cool heels, dead for matches.
  14. I thought he was crap last week too, but this one was all over the place and I was already leaning on the FFWD button before the Firm killed it dead. If you take out the MJF segments, that was one of the best televised, crispest, well-put together wrestling TV programs that I can remember. Dude is an anchor, not a pillar.
  15. Less reliable narrator than MJF, perhaps. Yeah that’s messed up if Larry got hurt, but the rest of the story is so slanted that it makes it all seem fishy.
  16. The announcers did a fantastic job during the match as well, talking about Riho being trained to fight from underneath, choosing her moments, and how being so small means her hips are already underneath making for an easier snap on the suplex.
  17. Wild that Mox-Penta is clearly the worst match but Penta is going to tell a story, and it’s the same story he’s told 100 times and we’ve all heard it an it’s getting old. FTR-SIOG is a sleeper MOTYC candidate, like we know FTR is probably best tag team in the world right now and SIOG are solid and weird and full of surprises but holy shit did they over-deliver and give us a classic match with one of the all-time builds. Plus good lord Keith Lee fucking leapfrogging both guys and then immediately doing a drop down would have been impressive for a guy 150 pounds lighter.
  18. Most interesting, entertaining, original thing he’s done in AEW since I’ve been watching.
  19. I just saw that, I assumed it was after because, well, that seemed more reasonable.
  20. They were caught smoking weed in the locker room after the South Carolina game (which was a road game). Fourth guy also there and is likely suspended but not publicized.
  21. Have you not seen the complaints about HoB-DT running forever, and how stale Jade's angle is?
  22. I like The Bucks fine but I feel like the tag division is plenty strong without them. On the other hand, they are a team who doesn't really need a belt to be over and have heat. I like Omega a lot and I was excited when he came back as I feel like he adds one more true star to the main event picture. If they're gone, I won't stop watching because I mostly like what they have going on now with BCC, Acclaimed, Wardlow, FTR, JAS (way better than Inner Circle). If only I could get less Penta...
  23. Happy for Sam, he's a good guy and a good QB who took a ton of hard hits having to play hero ball for Tom Herman. He's probably going to have more of the same with the Colts OL, but at least he got to basically rest and heal his body for almost 2 years
  24. ANwar is a hack, but unfortunately a huge chunk of the donor base cares very deeply about that crap, especially after the 2020 season.
