  1. Last page of this week's Wonder Woman #61.
  2. Today's haul: Conan 1 Obi-Wan one-shot Qui-Gonn one-shot (there's also a Darth Maul one-shot, but I don't care about that character) (also: some DC, as well as Archie 700-701 and whatever the current BPRD book is) I just couldn't get motivated about anything else from Marvel, except for FF. But I need to buy 2-4 and the wedding issue, and I was already spending too much.
  3. Gave my tablet to my brother, so it was the comic shop for me today. Detective last issue and this issue were sold out. They said they were surprised at how fast today's sold out. From DC, I picked up: Action 1001-1006 Morrison's The Green Lantern 1-2 Wonder Woman 61 It's been a long time since I walked out of a comic shop with a stack of floppies, not one of which was a Batman title. (looks like he's in one of the Action issues, though, so I guess I did kind of buy one)
  4. Not gonna lie - I like the way she rhymes "nicotine" and "heroin".
  5. Now that you mention it, during that six man tag there were three guys with matching masks, as well as Albano. Andre only came in for about 20 seconds to clear the ring. I am not surprised that the angle bombed. Apart from Bobby Heenan being so amazing, the interview segments with the “Japanese” wrestlers are painful to watch. And the aftermath is basically Ventura running around in a horrible hairpiece, saying he knows why the reinstatement happened but he won’t tell anyone. ETA: Later, we find out the reinstatement happened as part of Heenan's plan to turn Andre against Hogan --leading to a terrific angle. It just took a looonnnngggggg time getting there.
  6. I’ve been watching a Road to Mania III comp, and it includes the late ‘86 Andre suspension angle - during which Andre wrestles under a mask as Japanese wrestler Giant Machine. Heenan is brilliant throughout, as he works himself into fits in response to everyone’s gaslighting him. But my question: Did I miss it, or was Andre never unmasked? This comp goes from a fun 6-man tag (Machines vs Bundy/Studd/Heenan) to Andre’s having been reinstated. (Or as the British interviewer says, “the suspension was suspended.”) What gives?
  7. Not gonna lie: When I saw your caption, I was expecting you to post a current pic of Madusa or Mayumi Ozaki or someone.
  8. Mean Gene visiting a women’s shoe store in Japan: “Adrian Adonis would have a field day in this place.”
  9. Love the way Piper (coked up?) keeps making Acey-Baby get picked up.
  10. Wrestlemania VII I turned this one on with the intention of watching Hogan/Slaughter. I ended up watching all 3 1/2 hours. Hogan wins the match, of course, though he’s covered in blood. Not a bad match, considering Slaughter feels a few years past his prime by 1991. Dude knows how to do the little things, and the crowd was white hot. I didn’t hate it. Next, I thought I’d watch Mania X8, since it’s been awhile. But a few min in, I had to get away from all the noise and lights and, especially, the shouty commentary. So now I’m watching some 1986 Mempho tv. Actually, this first show is 12/28/85, I think. Though I have been listening to the Great Brian Last podcast recapping Mid-South in order on the Network. So I should probably be watching that.
  11. Hmm. Besides those 4, we have Monsoon, Heenan, Andre, Lord Alfred. Perfect. Kerry VE. Piper. Fuuuuuck Who else?
  12. I don’t care at all for this story. Not one bit. I’ve still not watched the leg break match. I won’t even watch the ppv, in case I forget and accidentally see the injury happen.
  13. Oh, also at that SHIMMER taping, Welfare Queen broke a chick’s jaw with a spinning backfist. That’s not cool. But it was memorable.
  14. Perhaps your brain no-showed due to passport issues?
  15. Mania VII. Savage. Warrior. Sherri. Elizabeth. All gone. Also, oof, Sherri looks good.
  16. A text chat with my brother today, who I repeat has never been a rasslin fan - but who happened to be 11 yrs old in 1992.
  17. THIS I like the idea of their adding NXT house show matches.
