ESPN 30 for 30: This is the XFL I somehow missed all of this in 2001. I was deep in a phase of being too smart and adult for Wrestling. So I probably blocked it out.

I picked up Daniel Bryan's memoir from the library. I didn't get very far because they made this obnoxious aesthetic choice to use lengthy italicized passages at the front of the chapters, as a separate story from the chapter itself. I hate hate hate reading whole pages of italics. Anyone read it? Maybe I need to just get over myself. Wouldn't be the first time. How's the fairly recent Piper bio? I've had my eye on that one.

I haven't watched them, but some dude has been posting full shows on youtube. I don't know how Gaora hasn't burned his house down - they usually crack down hard IIRC (though maybe that's changed?), and it's not like these videos are hard to find.

Well, well, that was some ending. Looks like the Green Guerreros are breaking up. I loved how Atlantis and Gringo stole roll-up pins while the rudos were busy beating the crap out of each other. Atlantis looked fat and slow. I wonder if he's hurt? The rudos seemed pretty gentle with him.

Yeah, that hold partner upside down by feet and whip him over onto opponent is def "wacky". And cool. Valiente's a big boy.

1. Why did Piper wear a Hulkamania shirt to his match with Hogan at War to Settle the Score, Feb 1985? 2. Why did Orndorff take interviews with his back to the camera in early 1984? I would imagine he's showing off his fancy robe as well as perhaps his disdain for the crowd. But maybe there's something else to it? 3. Why did they bring Piper in as a manager in 1984? His talking was great, of course, though you can understand only about half of it. And when he's with Orndorff, Paul does 90% of the talking. It's kind of weird.

I'm not actually watching the program. I'm watching some eighties WWF. But I saw they were streaming, and I was curious about the ring girls. (I have my priorities.)

Caught a few minutes of the Monday night CMLL youtube streamed-show. That show has two really cute ring girls. The poor things look so bored with doing that same little dance over and over and over.

The Apple vs. The Corre Henry is so awesome, rolling his eyes at the silliness of "Apple Powers Unite". Santino's music gets quite the crowd pop. But I have to wonder if it wasn't partly because the crowd was ready for that 2-minutes-that-felt-like-20-minutes CORRE promo segment to end.

I love the idea that even at home in a romantic firelight setting, Randy still wears his bandanna.

Just started Backlund's book, which is looking like it's going to be excellent. He says that because his parents basically left him in a crib for two years as an infant/toddler, his back didn't develop right. Which is why he has that weird posture. Interesting.

Wish we could get some more 1990 USWA. It's so deliciously trashy-looking. And that way overweight heel manager with the bad teeth who inserts himself into color commentary is awesome. He makes really lazy jokes of the "your fans are stupid" sort, but somehow it works. I was bummed when I jumped to the next ep only to find he'd been replaced by Percy Pringle. Percy's a lot nicer to listen to and even look at, but he's not as fun.

Fuck you all. I am going to be humming that damn song for the rest of the day. You successfully fantasy booked a worm into my ear.
