  1. Exactly. I did watch last week’s main event with Alexander and Neese just now. Some very nice spots. But my problem is that the guys seem totally interchangeable, and they’re wrestling a your turn my turn match with lots of downtime between moves. I barely get the sense that either of them wants to win, and they don’t give me any reason to care about them. The announcing team is trying really hard to sell us on the intensity and fight in these guys, and I just don’t see it in the ring. If I watch something like Dragon Gate, there’s at least a pacing and buildup to their spotfu. Also, everyone who was interviewed delivered their lines in exactly the same dull, quiet, monotone way. Tough to come to this modern WWE mic product from Nitro. Even when they’re saying stupid things on Nitro, you usually get a sense that they believe or care about what they’re saying - instead of just parroting lines. But then, this is the D show. . .
  2. I just watched the entire show, and it’s pretty solid from top to bottom. I never got bored, which I can’t say about last week’s episode of 205 Live that I’m trying to watch right now. Lost interest in that one after about 10 minutes…
  3. I am sure this is been discussed at length, but it’s the first time I’ve noticed it: has Kenny Omega ever admitted to the fact that, from the neck up, he’s cosplaying 1997 Diamond Dallas Page? As I watch this August 4, 1997 episode of Nitro, the resemblance is uncanny. I have to give Omega major points for getting the hair just right. Admittedly, I have not seen Kenny since the summer, so he may have cut his hair or something.
  4. This is the same Flair that needed Harley Race to go to Mexico with him, in case any of the Luchadors tried to shoot in the ring?
  5. We need a gif of Alex Wright dancing with the Nitro Girls on Aug 4, 1997 Nitro.
  6. Gotta be IWA:MS? There's only about 5 people in the crowd, and they could care less about this "awesome moove".
  7. In many ways, the crowd is the best thing about wrestling. And also the worst. Speaking of crowds: I was watching Dusty's HOF speech last night, and the paeons in the balcony kept trying to interrupt with chants. I could tell Dusty was getting annoyed. But later, I love when he has Harley Race stand up for a round of applause. Then he says, "Sit down, Harley. I done sold for you enough tonight."?
  8. Actually, in my experience that's standard. It's a way to force you into giving them your phone. I created an account about a year ago and initially did nothing but follow some accounts twitter itself suggested. Next time I logged in: "suspicious activity; give us your phone number to unlock".

Wow, it's crazy to think about the big Poison summer shows I saw three years straight around 2000. That seems like just yesterday. So many great shows - Poison, Warrant, Dokken, Cinderella, Slaughter. Plus, at other shows I caught the Crue a few times, Firehouse, Sebastian Bach, RATT. It was glorious. But now I realize that's 20 years ago that I saw Motley Crue at Bronco Bowl. Tommy had just gotten out of jail.
  10. I have only seen the film once, but the bit I recall on this topic is one moment - I think at an airport - where the camera aims right at her as she walks away in her jeans (or otherwise tight pants). It was really obvious, IMO.
  11. Watching the 1983 all star game on youtube, and it brings back a lot of memories. 1984 was the first year I really started following baseball, since my dad bought me my first cards that year, and it's pretty much all the same guys. But why would the Comiskey Park crowd, who cheered most of the AL players during introductions, boo Dave Winfield? @OSJgot any insight?
  12. Oh, and Rebirth Batman is way too free with using personal names on the radio. ?
  13. Yesterday, I read about 25 issues of Rebirth Batman, Detective, and Nightwing - via the first Deluxe volumes on Hoopla. There was some good stuff, especially the artwork. And I enjoyed the Raptor storyline with Dick, though I don't know how I feel about the idea that he has a dark side like Bruce's. In one sense, you can't grow up that way without absorbing the pessimism. In another, Grayson has always been a figure of light. It was like when they made Mary Marvel evil just because it had never been done. The Monster Men story was atrocious. I ended up skimming the second half of that. Also, while it had neat moments and great art, the Batman's Suicide Squad story was annoying. (esp Jewelee, who is obviously just a stand in for Harley) The loss of Oracle in Nu52 means that Alfred has to take that role, and I don't like it. I know that's what Snyder did with Irons, and maybe they're trying to be consistent. But it's yet another demonstration of how they "killed off" a great character to make her into yet another sassy young Batgirl - when it's obvious that they needed an Oracle character. Knowing as I do that The Colony plot and the Selina/Bruce romance stuff is still going on 30 issues later gives me tiredhead.
