  1. Once again, if you don't have Tokyo Jungle go but it at that price. I'm personally tempted by Mega Man X4 and X5 as I never got to play either. May also grab Ibb & Obb and Cloudberry Kingdom.
  2. Just got into the guy's writings recently, still bummed by this. At the very least he no longer has to deal with the disease which surely must have been a mighty struggle.
  3. I just like that Cena used the Rollins approach to making someone say yes to something they don't want to. Hey, if it works...
  4. I remember when I first started watching wrestling I caught a Hacksaw match where he cheated a few times and pointed to the crowd to tell the ref to ask them if he in fact cheated, at which point they backed up his alibi. It is likely that I missed the beginning of the match where his opponent bent the ruled a few times himself but at the time it struck me as very confusing in the manner you hint at here.
  5. The dunk contest Quad City DJs are back~
  6. It is worth noting that people such as Scott Hall and Jake Roberts were sorta not going to go into the WWE Hall when they were still clearly struggling with alcohol and perhaps drugs, it was only when DDP got them presentable that WWE took the opportunity to sneak them both in while they had everything together. I haven't really seen Chyna in a while but last I saw she was a complete mess in this regard and I'm not sure she's really trustworthy to hit a certain date while being in "condition" to perform. The porn stuff is probably a stumbling block as well, but even if she never did all that and never dated HHH she'd still have troubles getting into the Hall because of this, unless she cleaned up when no one was paying attention.
  7. I'd be down to do this again (assuming my library has it, as always). Last time around it got me started on reading the discworld books (three down since then) so I'd welcome a chance to be introduced to more swell possibilities.
  8. Other than an appearance at a Paris house show, that was it for him in WWF, yeah. He did a bunch of house shows in Europe, where they reprised the same finish of Andre helping Bulldog defeat Earthquake. I wonder if any of those were filmed, because I'm pretty sure Quake never ate a pinfall on TV, at least not during that run (he passed out in the Million Dollar Dream and got counted out against Hulk, but that's about it). I recall a MSG house show where Andre I believe nailed Quake with his crutch, distracting him enough so that Jake The Snake could hit the dtt and get revenge for having his snake squished, but I don't recall exactly where in this time frame it fits in.
  9. Even if he is not a massive UFC draw, he is likely a pretty big draw by Bellator standards. That is reason enough for UFC to try and get him back.
  10. I think this was (partially) him trying to get fired to get out of his contract so I think Dana keeps him around as long as he can.
  11. Well first you have to find a UFC show that does 400k buys which is getting rarer and rarer... I think he either has to fight on an actual ppv or a UFC on Fox show the first time out as you have to make sure you at least get your money's worth the first time out. I'm not sure how many viewers he'd add to a thin show, but on a card with something else interesting on it he may be enough to push some people already intrigued over the edge.
  12. After the 4th round both corners told their fighters that if they want to win the fight they better take the 5th round. I had it as round 5 definitely for Lawler, rounds 2 and 3 definitely for Hendricks, round 1 closer but for Lawler and round 4 closest but probably just for Hendricks. Ending a round blindly holding onto a leg while a guy unloads (mostly missing) shots on you is a bad look and Hendricks was dumb for doing it. I have no idea if he was gassed or was just trying to stall out the remainder of the fight from some point in the 4th onwards but that's why he lost a fight he was comfortably winning up until then.
  13. The single player story mode in Mirror's Edge is flawed, but I adored the time trials. Granted it takes adjusting to the controls which are unusual but very effective and responsive once you do, and that does take a bit of time.
  14. The past month or so calls this into question as Ambrose seems less over every week since the Rollins feud ended while Rollins has maintained very well. I think their feud worked less because of people truly buying into Ambrose and more because of people wanting to see Rollins get his.
  15. I got to this so I'm glad it is at least acknowledged. It also makes me feel less overly critical if the author himself feels the need to address it. This also means that I finished it. I'd say it was pretty good overall and was definitely easy to read through, which I consider to be a positive. In terms of the author withholding information it seems to me that he intentionally did not look too deeply into the details of his class's history but I think this is likely the biggest flaw with the book. In many ways he he evangelizing about the class and the kids but in the process it is hard to ignore how both him and us do not have complete information. I don't think it is a fatal flaw, but it is there. I'm kinda curious how long he stuck with the class after this tale wrapped up.
  16. Yeah which is what gets me when people slam Goodell. He is restrained by the CBA to what he can and cannot do in terms of fines and suspensions. Where there is a grey area he pushes too far as lawyers are wont to do and Smith does the same on the other side. Eventually they hash out a middle ground. It may not make any sense to us as fans but this is what they collectively bargained and both sides need to share blame. ...You do realize that Goodell isn't a lawyer and never has been, right? You keep writing with such confidence about how leagues are run by lawyers and lawyers are wont to do but I've just spent the last ten minutes googling to make sure I haven't gone insane and he just seems to be some economics grad who worked his way up from intern.
  17. God I was so confused by that response for a second before I remember the post that was immediately before it.
  18. I am currently about a third of the way through this and it is mostly okay but I have a bit of a disconnect with it. It seems to technically be non-fiction but is more of a novelization of true events and the blurriness that introduces bothers me a bit on some level. Perhaps towards the end of his experience he realized he had a book here and started to take very detailed notes but can't have known that early on, yet there is specific dialogue included that in all likelihood is either being remembered many months later or re-created in a way to sort of paraphrase what was covered at the time. I mean he states that he writes in his notebooks a lot so perhaps he just takes absurdly detailed notes on all of his life experiences big or small, but it feels like there would be pieces missing that just aren't. It does have the benefit of apparently legit writing samples he saved but they have obviously been cleaned up a great deal which almost certainly makes them easier to read but feels a bit like a cheat. The lack of typos is one thing but the grammar often feels stronger than what I'd anticipate. Does this make me think more of these kids than if they were transcribed as-is? Does it shift reality to better make the point he wants to make? On one hand it really shouldn't matter as long as it is a good read (and so far it generally is) but in cleaning things up I worry some blurriness was introduced and it hangs enough in the back of my head to pop up at times when reading. While comparing a book to science is always foolhardy with experiments you must avoid even the faintest outside touch as it can skewer the results; here I feel the author's hand more than I think I should.
  19. It sounds like they designed the game around forcing people to sign into other Ubi platforms or grind/pay money to do stuff you used to be able to do without issue. Fortunately you can but a lot of points for $99.99.
  20. It looks like I should be able to get my hands on a copy of this, so hopefully I'll get to start it by early next week.
  21. I haven't read this book but in general this seems to be one of the dominant tropes of the past decade-plus or so in various narrative genres. It likely always existed but is something that caught on around the dawn of the century and in its most blatant form is a bit overplayed (I have to use the term "pulled a Tyler Durden" much more frequently than I'd have anticipated years ago), but it makes sense that it'd be something that we'd come across at least a couple times in the course of this.
  22. Yeah, sadly my library doesn't have this and has no ILL way around this shortcoming (dirty secret of my participation in this book club: whether I read a book or not is completely dependent on whether I can get it from my library) so I'll have to end up sitting out this one :\
  23. Where/when exactly did I say he did? They varied from good to abysmal on the pipebomb to loss to Rock timeline. Point was, there is no one in their current system that could provide the potential impact his return would (Bryan perhaps?). At some point, they will get desperate, pride will be swallowed, and he will have to put down his comic books and get back to work. Is there anyone that you could imagine having their name chanted at every televised event for months after their departure at this point? Last time I remember it was the "We Want Flair" chants after he left for WWF in the early 90s. How soon we all forget Matt Hardy. And for good reason.
  24. Case in point: I wouldn't blame Simmons on that; looks like Jeff either deadweighted or just didn't get a jump on the move due to timing. Sadly for Jeff, Simmons is one of those guys, like Brock on Holly, that is strong enough to muscle you up anyway. If Jeff deadweighted then he's lucky that's all that happened to him. You don't fuck with Ron Simmons. Mentioned this last time it came up but if you watch close you see that Jeff's arm gets trapped behind Ron's leg on the pick up, hence why he sorta stalls on the way up.
