  1. One last thing about Erik Watts. The reason his WCW push died on it's arse so badly was, the series of events that goes: WCW gives legendary Wrestler the book, he immediately signs his own son to a deal, and then puts the kid on telly with a strong babyface push... already happened two years earlier, with Dusty Rhodes and young Dustin. And that time it worked, firstly because Dusty was a legend to those fans in a way Cowboy Bill wasn't, and secondly because Dustin's push was done in a more sympathetic way. Dustin was pushed as an overenthusiastic rookie who got beaten down a lot and made fiery comebacks, whilst Erik was a dominant frontrunner babyface (despite being too green at the time to control a match with his offence).
  2. Khabib's lack of front isn't a lack of confidence. He's letting Conor have enough rope.
  3. Yeah, but the traditional Wrasslin' match structure is: Face dominates due to superior talent, Hell cheats to gain advantage, ref misses it due to shenanigans, Face tries to make comebacks but is cut off by persistent sneaky cheating. Face starts cheating again, ref sees it and castigates him, fans are outraged at the unfairness of it all. House afire comeback, ref bump, visual babyface pinfall, more outrage. Then go to the finish. It's a morality tale, that includes a lesson about the unfairness and injustice in the world, and that bad things can happen to good people. But in WWE, the face would cheat before the heel, and the ref would let him get away with it. Rock would bury guys on the mic all the time and they'd never get a comeback. Hogan's offence was all eye rakes and back scratches. Heel moves. Villains only deserves their comeuppance if they've done something wrong. Wanting to win a match, or wanting to be the Champion isn't a bad thing, is it?
  4. It's the WWE. Bullying is only bad when heels are doing it. When Babyfaces bully people, they're just having fun. See Hogan (80s), Rock (90s), et cetera.
  5. @OSJ We were talking about Promoters' kids, not just second generation wrestlers in general. Opening that up is a far more wide ranging conversation. Now third generation wrestlers, that's a small pool to dive into. But an interesting one.
  6. When I search for Dynamite, I'm expecting to find the Dynamite Kid, and Dynamite Kansai. But I guess it's more important to make Rex Kwon Do than one of the great Joshi wrestlers of the 90s. Also, the only Megumi Kudo I could find had pink hair and looked nothing like her. Am I going to have to make her myself? Someone made a Xia Brookside. Nobody made Robbie. God damn.
  7. Maybe it's time the covers thread, and the not-a-cover thread found some common ground: And also a live version, largely for the pop the audience gives when they realise the American band is singing in Japanese:
  8. Move them back to retired, and.. I don't know if there's a limit on imported characters, so that might be enough.
  9. Aston Villa fired Steve Bruce, and all of his staff. They had to really, someone threw a cabbage at him.
  10. I'm not sure he'll have anything for Volkov. Volkov's a tall guy who fights long and controls distance. Lewis is four inches shorter, and he's not a guy with explosive closing speed or much in the way of lateral movement. So never mind a round or so, if Lewis hasn't done anything devastating in the first sixty, ninety seconds of the first round, he's likely not getting anything done all night. Now Volkov's figured himself out, he's a horrible style match up for an awful lot of Heavyweights. Before he'd figured himself out, he was a more boring Stefan Struve. But Volkov uses his natural gifts in ways Struve seems unable to.
  11. If you take that shirt, and replace the N with a G, it would be more accurate.
  12. So, I'm browsing Wrestlers, and I find this page, and... one of our old friends commented: https://firepro-w.com/item/detail/15508 Nobody made Mr Pogo yet? He's been in loads of FirePro games! EDIT: Never mind, I found him.
  13. Misawa and Steamboat had a one on one match once. It wasn't very good. But they might have been able to have had a good one, if they'd had time to familiarise themselves with each other.
  14. If I had to compare the 4 Horsewomen to four of the Horsemen, I'd say Sasha was the Ric, Becky was the Tully, Bayley was the Sting, and Charlotte is the Sid. Nobody is the Arn, more's the pity.
  15. Did Lance Von Erich have a bad match with Samoa Joe in 2004? No? Zebra Kid did. Also, I'm fairly sure he updates his own Wikipedia page. Have a look at the grammar at the end of the 'Wrestling Career' section.
  16. Paige and her brothers, Dustin & Cody Rhodes (if you count Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling), Garrett Bischoff, maybe Wes Brisco (?)… Vince (Senior and Junior) technically count as well. Obviously we're discounting promoters who are also Wrestlers, like Baba and Inoki. But if the idea is benificiaries of nepotism, it's a wide window to look through.
  17. Any opinions on Ichi3914's edits? Because he's got loads of them... lots of MMA, lots of Boxers, a few World of Sport guys, and some FPWR remakes. But making 123 edits makes me think he might be just cloning a generic base character or two, customising appearance and signature/finishers, and not bothering with logic or stats. Spamming, basically.
  18. Well, I opened it up with the McMahon hatepost, so give us your best/worst etc list, and the fun part of the discussion can begin. Obviously Daughters count as well as Sons, and Sons-in-law are OK, but Grandkids are out. Children of bookers who weren't promoters to be included at your discretion.
  19. Best working Hart brother before Bret and Owen broke in. After that, an afterthought.
  20. Because it came up in the Mediocre Wrestlers thread, CONTENT: PROMOTER'S SONS. BEST: Tully Blanchard. One of the few promoter's kids to have enjoyed his greatest career success outside the family promotion, a great worker, a fantastic natural heel, a good talker. Everything you could want. He was in a stable with Ric Flair in the 80s and wasn't overshadowed, he was that good. Best by a mile. WORST: Shane McMahon. Terrible punches, always booked as stronger than actual Wrestlers, does high falls from dangerous places and doesn't sell them long term. Has no physique to speak of, which is unforgivable in that gene pool. Take a 25 year old Shane McMahon, take his name away, and have him show up at the performance centre asking for a try out. Does he pass? Does he fuck. But he's outworking Kurt Angle on the mat. Fucking bullshit. MOST OVERRATED: See, the over- and under-rated categories are tricky with such a small talent pool to discuss. So let's just extend it to include Sons-in-law and say Triple H is the most overrated Promoter's kid. Keep the streak alive. MOST UNDERRATED: Bruce Hart. It can't have been easy, having been the best working Hart brother, and then having your younger siblings massively outshine everything you ever did.
  21. ...and for one glorious moment, Nice Guy Eddie forgot Shane McMahon ever existed.
  22. How long does it take to complete Victory Path? Because I feel like I've been playing it for hours and hours, but I've only completed like 8% of it. And do you have to finish the whole thing to unlock the ability to go back and succeed in missions you failed the first time? Also, how to clone (or delete) edits? Sorry for asking so many questions. No manual. Simmed a pretty good Zach Sabre jr vs Kazushi Sakuraba match while I was making lunch. Wanted to see what Orienteering with Napalm Death looked like, but Saku destroyed him.
  23. You know you've posted something great when OSJ replies to it twice.
  24. On the subject of Marc Rocco, I've seen Sammy Lee vs Rollerball Rocco from World of Sport, but I've not seen any Tiger Mask vs Black Tiger matches from New Japan. Are there any good ones? Are they arguably better than Sayama vs Dynamite? And did they do Black Tiger vs Dynamite Kid at any point?
