  1. Kudos for dumping that girl right away. Who the hell convinces a person who was just assaulted to leave the ER without treatment? WTF.
  2. There was a thing at a bar where he smashed a window or something and then the team he tried to attack Jim in the office.
  3. During which he hit .256/.303/.343, lest anyone think this person is going to make a significant difference. Look out for firecrackers, sounds like this guy is making a comeback:
  4. Well, I can see how people might have felt that way - that first trailer felt like it was an hour long. And, let's be real here - any moviemaker who's got Scarlett Johannson doing topless scense is well aware that that single feature will draw people to the theater.
  5. Paul Verhoeven and topless Jesse Spano are a winning combination. That movie is just camp genius. You've got Berkeley "dancing" like a spazz who's trying to injure people the entire time - and then using those exact same moves in the pool with McLachlan. There's the awful acting, the wretched dialogue, and the general sleaziness of the whole thing. It's awesome!
  6. He was REALLY thoughtless and had violent outbursts. He wasn't a monster but he also wasn't "a generally solid guy".
  7. Probably not worth a separate thread anymore since the show has been canceled but: I've been watching The Office on Netflix. I remember being super-excited for the premier of the show way back when but sorely disappointed with it when I actually watched it. Off and on since then, I've caught a few episodes and liked what I saw, but not enough to watch or DVR the show regularly. Which leads us to now... I have just finished watching the first 5 seasons and am LOVING the show. Great stuff. I've read lots of places that say it drops off big-time with season 6, so not looking forward to that. I doubt I'll watch the final season either but will at least try to get through to the end of Steve Carrell's tenure. Some thoughts: - the vending machine prank Jim plays on Dwight in season 2, putting all his stuff in the machine, just KILLED me. Brilliant touch having Pam come up and buy his pencil holder - I love the occasional poignant moment where you see the characters are more than just caricatures. The phone call with Michael calling David Wallace about his girlfriend Holly being moved was really great. - could do without the Andy character. Brings nothing to the show and is more annoying than funny - Jim is a bully. Don't like the character at all. He's the hipster douche who thinks he's better than everybody else but mostly just picks on the "weird" kid (Dwight). That said, I do find the stuff he does pretty hilarious and Dwight certainly deserves to get picked on at times - I loved the brief bit with Charles Minor getting all over Jim for being a bad, lazy employee. Was nice to see the tables turned for a bit as Dwight so awesomely points out in that episode. - Maybe my favorite line of the entire run so far: Karen saying "Ya know, Pam's kind of a bitch". For sure - kisses another guy while engaged, goes after a guy while he's dating someone else, etc. Anyway, great show, but that's not anything anybody around here needs to be told. I'm late to the party but that's OK - I can watch 3 episodes or more per night without having to wait for new ones
  8. I remember very little about the movie now but I went with a group to see it and we ALL thought it was atrocious. As in one of the worst movies we'd ever seen. Maybe I need to give it another shot since I've heard from so many people that it's good.
  9. Let's not get crazy - he only stole 155 last year He had 75 in 123 games of AAA this year before his call-up.
  10. Downloaded the demo for Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and gave it a playthrough. As you'd expect, the graphics are gorgeous. The original was a beautiful game and this one does a good job of capturing that feel with an updated look. The controls are unchanged from the original - jump and shoot, that's it. I had a bit of trouble judging jumping distances and ended up missing a bunch of jumps. Some of that is that I don't play platformers much anymore, some of that is probably the game itself. Having thought about it some, though, it's pretty close to how the original game played. Inertia IS a bit overdone, however, and that gets annoying. I will likely pick this up at some point, just not sure I want to spend $15. Maybe they'll discount it on PSN in a few months. Eurogamer gave it a 7/10 and says the game is hard. If that's true, that would be interesting as the original was criticized (or praised) as being really easy (which it was). http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-03-castle-of-illusion-starring-mickey-mouse-review
  11. That's exactly why Diablo on the PS1 worked so well. Instead of having to constantly click on the screen to make your guy move, you just pushed a stick. Easy shortcuts for potions and stuff right on the buttons. I expect Diablo 3 to be more of the same and will definitely give it a shot. Probably not for $60 though
  12. Let's not forget that Castle of Illusion comes out on PSN today as well. Demo available so will give that a shot but could see this easily being a purchase for me.
  13. American Violet - Nicole Beharie is a single mom busted as a drug dealer by a corrupt DA looking to pad his numbers and general federal funds. Based on a true story of a douchebag DA - who's still in office! - in Texas. Can't say this is anything other than standard fare but it's compelling and well done. And Beharie is smoking hot. 7/10.
  14. Anybody playing Diablo 3 on the ps3? Curious to know how it plays. I liked the first Diablo on the ps1 - a LOT more than the PC version despite being slightly slower - and am hopeful this is similar.
  15. Derek Smart? There's a name I haven't heard in awhile. He still working on BattleCruiser?
  16. In Her Skin - true story is a murder in Australia where a young woman killed a fifteen year old dancer she previously babysat. Not a great movie but features some outstanding performances, in particular Ruth Bradley as the killer. She is really great. Movie also features an incredibly disturbing, residing murder scene. I'm gonna day 6/10 but Bradley is a 10 in this one.
  17. Everybody should read Leach's book - it's fantastic.
  18. Somebody post a link to the Olbermann thing.
  19. I had this exact same thought a lot in my English classes. Lots of assigning deep meanings to stuff that could just have been an author writing down a story they thought was good.
  20. A few of my recent Spokane Indians pickups: 2013 July 4th game worn Travis Dean: 2013 Ride the Bases game worn Tim Hulett: 2013 batting practice game worn Tim Hulett: 1982 throwback: Yes, I find the phrase "batting practice game worn" to be...stupid.
  21. Those USA jerseys look like sweatshirts to me, not jerseys. They should just wear the "1960-esque" throwbacks they wore a few years ago. Or wear the 1980 ones again.
  22. Wal-Mart has started doing pre-orders on the PS4.
