A couple weeks ago, I got home from work, hopped on the elliptical and did a nice 45-minute workout. My dog was giving me that "dude, I need to go outside" look so I took him outside - still sweaty and stuff from the workout. It was chilly outside and naturally an hour later, I'm feeling the effects of a cold. That was 15 days ago and the damn cold still won't go away. I feel generally OK but the half box of kleenex I'm going through every day sure says otherwise...

I actually liked that movie. A lot. It was all disturbing and messed up yet somehow well-done. This game? It's...gratuitous.

Caught up on Wings games last night on Gamecenter: vs Boston - Ugh, the NBCSN announce crew. These guys make me wish I was deaf. Jimmy Howard stands on his head to get it to OT then does his usual "flop face first and pray I get lucky" routine during the shootout. Good Lord, he's horrible in those. Mike Babcock shows off his coaching genius by not getting Gus Nyquist a shift on an OT power play, then putting a rookie grinder (Nestrasil) up first on the shootout. Well done, Mike. And just to remind everybody that the Bruins were playing, the refs watched Zdeno Chara slash multiple players on the Red Wings bench and didn't call a penalty. And the NHL wonders why people think their refs are terrible. vs Toronto - dominant effort from Detroit. Zetterberg had four assists after being invisible against Boston. Franzen had two goals. And Nyquist scored again. Excellent effort. So far, so good from Detroit. Without a horrible call against Anaheim, they'd have points in every game. Howard has been real good. Nyquist has been lights-out. The defensive core that was so atrocious last year has been very good. Waaaaaaay fewer r giveaways and better coverage. The PK has been perfect. Need more goal scoring but that may come when Pavel comes back.

The AC Ezio Trilogy is a must-get.

Funny you say that - one of the main criticisms I've seen of the movie is that it moves too slowly and is way too long.

Our younger cat, Dash, is quite a character. He loves to pull books off of shelves and paw through them, for example. Last night, I'm in the bathroom getting ready for bed and I hear him out in the living room meowing at the top of his lungs. He does that sometimes - just to get attention, to tell me to go to bed (yes, he actually does that), or whatever. Anyway, I'm in there and he comes flying into the bathroom at 1000mph, goes behind the door, knocks a bottle off the edge of the tub, and then goes flying back out of the room, again at 1000mph. All in one fluid motion, no stopping, no nothing. It was so freaking hilarious. Like my cat just decided out in the living room "I'm gonna run in there and knock over a bottle so he'll go to bed" or something.

Yeah, I should have mentioned the length, too. My wife turned to me well into the movie and gave me the "how long IS this movie?" question. It felt longer than it was - and it was plenty long. Definitely could have been tightened up some.

And...the rest of the story: Seems that ole George is partially the inspiration for Lorde's ear-destroying song "Royals". It's obviously mostly about monarchs and all that but it was also inspired by a photo of George signing autographs in National Geographic.

But they dont get that fee if I dont have cable and Im thinking that fee is less then $10-15Disney/ESPN would lose billions in that swap. They are huge because every cable subscriber pays for them. If that goes away, they will lose at least half their audience, probably more.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself. A lot of years of Donovan McNabb, a couple good years of Michael Vick, and now Nick Foles. That's a pretty good run. Sure beats the mess that Washington's been running out there for quite awhile.
