  1. They mentioned a couple of times how Tony and Bruce were getting nowhere with their Ultron project, then something unexplained happened and it started working. Seems safe to assume Thanos was behind that something unexplained.
  2. They went along with him because they thought he was planning to kill the Avengers and they hate the Avengers. They turned on him when they found out he was planning to wipe out humanity. That seemed fairly simple and well-explained. Now, exactly what THANOS has been trying to do over the last few films is pretty confusing, but hopefully they'll have a satisfying explanation when he actually shows up.
  3. Well, you'll want to replay it about twenty times as much.
  4. Are you lumping New Vegas in with Fallout 3? Because Vegas was quite a bit better IMO.
  5. Has it, though? I'm pretty sure more good text adventures are being cranked out each year now than there were in the '80s.
  6. Not the point. The point was, if the WWE marketing machine were as all-powerful as Owens was implying, then they WOULD be selling merchandise.
  7. This sums it up. Deadpool (and to a lesser extent Harley) have caught on with the internet crowd through memes and the like. As such, while their comics receive a modest boost in sales, they're also absurdly popular with people who have probably never paid actual money for a comic but will pay to see their movies when they're out. The general popularity is way higher than basically anyone not Batman and arguably the established movie Avengers. For comparison, when I was at Niagara Falls yesterday, I decided to count superhero merchandise. Saw one Spider-Man, one general Marvel, one Superman, one Captain America, one Batman, zero Deadpool. (One John Cena.) About what you'd expect.
  8. I was hooked by a guy in red trunks wrestling a guy in black trunks on an episode of Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling. I had been vaguely aware of wrestling as this land of over-the-top characters, and was amazed that these two nondescript guys could put on such an entertaining match. I still don't know their names.
  9. A character who's been in publication for about fifty years, and wasn't created by Rob Liefeld. Liefeld characters are popular in 2015? Is Cable going to get a movie? Are studios fighting over the rights to the Youngblood movie?
  10. Interesting. Kind of a random list.
  11. I thought those movies weren't called "Captain America" outside English-speaking North America. They were just "The First Avenger" and "The Winter Soldier".
  12. Putting LT in the top 15 of athletes for the last 40 years? Dude be trolling. We can nitpick over who outranks who or just concede that he's at least in the conversation. And he is. Dude was a freak. Fuck why is this still a thing? Josh is one of the few people with any goddamn sense here. Also, I didn't way he was one of the TOP athletes, I said he was one of the most well known. No, he wasn't Bo Jackson, Joe Montana or Larry Bird, but everyone knew who the hell he was. This discussion is making me hate the show by proxy. It's still a thing because your claim is ridiculous, and you won't back down. I was 21 when Wrestlemania XI happened, and I had never heard of Lawrence Taylor before the Royal Rumble. Nobody in my circle of friends had. I'm sure he was well-known to football fans, but he had zero name recognition outside of that fandom. Zero. Contrast with Ronda Rousey, whom I've at least heard of, despite having no interest in MMA.
  13. You're both misremembering. The "YES" thing started when he was a heel. After he'd found a sneaky way to worm out with the title, he'd celebrate with the "YES" chant like he'd just won a major victory. Switching to "NO" when it caught on with the fans was a logical move for the character at the time. But thanks for dismantling rzombie's batshittery point by point, somebody had to.
  14. Maybe some people are voting from a kayfabe perspective.
  15. Somebody needs to remind us philistines who did what at Wrestle Kingdom. Was Ishii the guy in the shitty match with all the no-selling?
  16. I once met a man with strong opinions on Kofi Kingston.
  17. Well, so much for all those people that said Seth Rollins didn't cash in on RAW because because he's smart. People said it made sense for Rollins not to cash in. Nobody said the writers were smart enough to understand why.
  18. I wanted to post The Cuban Assassin vs "Big" Stephen Pettipas, a match that I'm sure must have happened, but there's a real dearth of "Big" Stephen Petitpas matches on YouTube. So here's what I did find. No idea why The Cuban Assassin would be teaming with Leo Burke.
  19. I'm glad this thread has gone back to where it belongs: to pictures of hot chicks in Ultimate Warrior paint.
