  1. Dammit, I missed both the original airing and the replay this morning (fell asleep though it was autotuned). Might just have to rent the season when it comes out on DVD and binge it all
  2. Finally, proof that the International Shooter Mafia actually exists
  3. http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3442848/r-p-simon-sayce-creator-hellraiser-puzzle-box-passed-away/ RIP. Watch that 12 minute clip and your mind will be blown. I'm speechless.
  4. Scotty doesn't remember being in the Varsity Club anyway, it'd all be new to him
  5. Exactly! Me and Greg had a good time saying "that's so Carpenter" or "that's so Fulci" last night, but really... that's so Lovecraft.
  6. I rented The Void and rewatched it again, and then managed to buy the same copy from Family Video and give it to my friend for his birthday and he loved it too. It still makes no sense but then it's not supposed to so hey
  7. They could always do it on DJ Hyde's family's farm. Private property and all.
  8. I wrote this in my review of the show, but the Shibata headbutt in the Okada match airing last night -- of all nights -- on US TV was pretty fucked up. Me and a buddy went to see One Night Stand at a local theater and when he saw Eddy he said "Is he on the sauce again?"
  9. Haven't thought about that but if so, yuck. Still you gotta take in mind Jim's wife just died and maybe he's not thinking or not aware or, worst case scenario, is taking out his bitterness on commentary. I only caught some of the first episodes. War Machine are beasts, Juice deserves a shot and gets pretty emotional, Shibata/Fale looked like a geek show match that was kinda cool for the differences between opponents. He will appear again tonight and because I'm a sick fuck I'll watch it and take the hit for everyone who hasn't seen it. GOTO/SABRE JR. was pretty good. It's the first time I saw Sabre's whole gig and the subs and joint manipulation look nasty but can't get anything done because he's a skinny little ugly shit that will fall if you really take it to him. The last couple GTRs from Goto were pretty match-ending/concussion inducing. The run-ins were stupid but Gedo wanted to do a lumberjack match so whatever. KAMAITACHI WINS IN A MINUTE PLUS?! Wait, did they have to go home early for injury, I can't remember. That sunset flip powerbomb looked worse than either of the GTRs in the prior match. OKADA/SHIBATA: Well, here we go. The fact this is airing on the 10th anniversary of the Benoit murders is pretty fucked up. Barnett references William Gibson's Neuromancer in reference to Chono at ringside which is really out of left field. Shibata wisely goes to the Rainmaker arm on Okada in the initial grappling (which is quite good) which I'm sure will be no-sold later on. They come up with some pretty cool reversals and escapes... if only they kept up with it the whole time... Warmaster is again a wonder on commentary, talking up the headlock. Okada gets booed for not breaking clean and the crowd is 100% behind Shibata here. Now we get into the meat-chopping. Okada's got quite a jaw on him. Then we get a figure four that is another point of egress from Shibata that Okada will inevitably again no-sell to use the dropkick... which happens in moments. I like him stealing the kick over the guardrail though. The Deep In Debt looks really cool too, why do we never see that? I presume because like classic AJPW, a match can never end in a fucking submission now. At least back then they didn't bother using them. Shibata getting hit in the head really bad a bunch of times I'm sure is not helping anything. The Kimura + Fujiwara armbar is dope too, why couldn't they have just gone this route? The problem is that Shibata wants the strikes, the crowd wants the strikes, WE the AUDIENCE want the strikes. Oh, fuck JR, mentioning the headbutt like he doesn't know what happened afterwards. Did nobody seriously clue him in? He's online all the time. Is he trying to insult our intelligence? Wrestling is an artistic freakshow that happens to have very real consequences. That was a good match, besides the very stupid Fighting Spirit segment, and the headbutt, and them not working smarter in general. They drag Okada out after a Fale run-in while Shibata is about to collapse, and Warmaster and JR act like it's the other way around, because they've clearly been told to work and not mention him getting paralyzed. I suppose the lesson to be learned is "it's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt". And also, "pro wrestling is really fucked up".
  10. I'm down to buy that issue, PM me the details
  11. This was my review of Funk/Martel The promos leading up to it were awesome though
  12. I would have really preferred not to be reminded of this today.
  13. I love that movie. It's so gross and weird and Chevy and Demi getting dragged back to their doom over and over again is funny. The Bonestripper, the Judge's gross pale hot dogs, the mazelike mansion, the disgusting giant baby twins (which I think were Aykroyd and Candy under a ton of makeup), Digital Underground (with Tupac!) showing up out of nowhere to play "Do the Humpty-Hump", it's just a madhouse of a film. But yeah, for a comedy... ehhhh not much comedy.
  14. Re: Daybreakers And speaking of lapses in logic, Re: Don't Breathe
  15. Don't Breathe was deaf and blind (heh) on intellectual, emotional, and non-rapey levels. In a serious way. I could start with the lapses in logic, but it's too late for that.
  16. Dave's garage is just like mine. Good lord. The only difference is what's in the tubs (CDs, CDRs, tapes, VHS that isn't wrestling, magazines that aren't wrestling, comics) ...I still wouldn't ever give anything a 6 (or 6 1/4) star match though
  17. Boy they would have some funky looking kids. Quentin should either own the bald look or invest in some Bosley (HA! Second Bosley joke in a week!)
  18. Whoa, I didn't know this even existed. Considering I had a binge on LA punk recently (I got Germs and Screamers and Circle Jerks on vinyl AND re-read We Got the Neutron Bomb) I should probably watch this
  19. Road report expected! Also, so much for that Onita "retirement" already... or that did that not "happen" yet?
  20. Buff Bagwell doing a Canadian Destroyer and the opponent kicking out at 2 1/2 is pretty much everything I don't like about pro wrestling in the ring put into a 13 second clip.
  21. Watching Daybreakers on IFC right now. Willem Dafoe just said "being human in a world full of vampires is about safe as barebackin' a five dollar whore" Line of the century!
  22. The Skin I Live In? That was basically a horror movie, and quite good. It bears no similarities to that pile of shit beyond having someone gender-swapped against their will.
  23. That movie was written in the '70s, FWIW. Why they decided to make it (and why it got greenlighted) in the current political climate is beyond me. I think if it had actually been made back then, it would be an incredibly ridiculous piece of shit that us grindhouse type fans would love as a guilty pleasure. Coming out now it just looks remarkably tasteless... which means it'll serve its purpose for the next generation, probably.
