  1. so i just read the three issue miniseries debuting Savage Dragon for Image Comics. from '92 or '93 or somewhere in there. not bad. not amazing. it does make me want to give the ongoing a read, tho. i had never read them before, but i bought a comic lot on eBay and it included these three, so i figured i might as well. glad i did.
  2. i was really asking more about the documentary portion of it. i was in my early teens when Patriot had his WWF run vs. Bret Hart, but i totally bit on it and enjoyed it. At the time i was sure he was gonna beat the Canadian heel and become the champ. ahh, to be young and dumb.... and i've watched plenty of crappy wrestling. hell, i watched WCW Mayhem '99 last night.
  3. ok, i had to see this Goldberg/Lesnar match after reading the first page of this thread. thanks to youtube, i witnessed it. what a joke.
  4. so i'm listening to Steve Austin's podcast with Del "Patriot" Wilkes from like a year ago. he's hyping up this Del Wilkes "Behind the Mask" dvd. it's making me want to watch it. has anybody seen it? i've seen basically zero All Japan so all of the matches will be new to me.
  5. yeah, Pearson fought FIVE times in 2016. sure, 4 of them were losses, but that definitely counts for something. interestlingly enough, 4 of those fights also involved a short-notice replacement. a Bader-Gustafsson match-up would probably be the best use of both guys. if they didn't want to go that route, then i'd suggest Bader-Manuwa and Gus-Glover. unless Rumble wins the title, in which case we definitely should get Bader-DC and Rumble-Jones (in July)
  6. i couldn't wait for the proper release so i gave in and joined the pre-release test group or whatever they call it. played and beat it last night. started off decent but i was largely unimpressed. the further i got, the less i liked it. i was playing on Hard, with a brand new character, and i felt it was entirely too easy. took me a good chunk of time to beat it, but around level 9 it becomes incredibly linear and offers next to nothing for exploration. the 'linear' argument was also my main disappointment in Diablo 3. it was fun enough, but don't set your expectations too high.
  7. 17 years ago this week: edit: ugh this Nitro also features the pinata-on-a-pole match and Ed Ferrera doing his tasteless JR impression while debuting Dr. Death.
  8. down to <20 vinyl albums i'd love to own. have a collection of around 400. the wife & i have been picking them up when we see something we like, etc. made a "wanted" list about 5 years ago when we moved into a new house. the list started at round 75 albums that we've mostly acquired. stuff keeps getting added, but we're both super happy with the albums we've amassed. Most notable is that we still need all 3 of Hendrix's albums. i've got a 2 album greatest hits collection, but as Hendrix is my favorite guitarist ever, i've been really selective about his stuff.
  9. knew miesha was on the decline leading into 200. she's my personal favorite female fighter so i am sad to see her go. i wish her the best.
  10. apparently the NES mini is sold out all over town. i have a large NES collection so wasn't going to be picking one up, but apparently lots of people in town aren't happy. go figure that Nintendo shorts its supply again.
  11. that mini got a lot of hate at the time but i really enjoyed it. sadly, to my knowledge, Nemesis hasn't made any more appearances. they did announce a follow-up mini a few years back, but there's been no mention since.
  12. to each their own, i suppose, but it did absolutely nothing for me.
  13. I'm up to 1986 ibn my X-Men read thru. just finished uncanny #201, which caps off a damn good storyline. Xavier is sick and stuck in space, so Magneto now leads the teams. also read the Longshot mini (6 issues, which introduces the title character as well as Mojo). this was not at all good. the storyline itself wasn't terrible, but the pacing and dialogue was such a slog. definitely skippable.
  14. so i just found out Super Fight League still exists. thought they went under 2-3 years ago. haven't watched an event since #3.
  15. that Diablo Remake as a level in d3 is such a great idea and i can't wait until it goes live.
  16. this is the end of me caring about TNA until the next time they're on death's doorstep. talk to me in 6 months.....
  17. got to sit down and watch Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders tonight. it is glorious for a '60s Bat-fan like myself.
  18. IIRC, Lynn worked a set of tapings or two after leaving WCW. the WWF didn't offer him a contract, so he bounced to ECW. Then they contacted him about the tournament but he had already signed in Philly. my guess is that they advertised him, assuming he'd be willing to come back again before they called him. as far as Flash? well, someone had to lose to Jerry Lawler's son. i don't remember him having more than 2-3 matches with the WWF anyway.
  19. i am addicted to the dying breaths of TNA. i have been here before, frantically waiting for the end to finally be announced. i've been fooled by this, more than once. and yet, here i sit, anxiously refreshing and rechecking. i'm snatching these idiotic tidbits like they are morsels of life. when will this shell of a once-good wrestling company ultimately be put down? at this point, the only thing i keep thinking is, "why are there so many people fighting so hard to gain control of a miserably failing company with virtually no revenue streams?"
  20. the scrolling/tweet thing makes the board practically unreadable on my phone. please fix that issue soon
  21. not really a Pumpkins fan at all. Ok, maybe "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" is his highlight, since i actually enjoy that song, but mercy-killing TNA has to be #2, right?
  22. if Billy Corgan is the one to finally kill TNA, then he is in fact the great savior. hell, it may be the highlight of his professional life.
  23. news of the Nintendo Switch gave me the old 'nintendo itch' so i picked up a GameCube and three games. it was the only system from the Big N that i don't own. just thought i'd share
  24. since we're talking about TUF, was there not an episode this week? i don't have cable, but haven't seen it pop up online yet. this is the first season i've watched since rashad/stevenson won and i'm loving it. but i'm trying to stay spoiler-free and don't know where to find out about schedule changes.
