It was great! Also, it’s the first time I really noticed the films portray Ichi’s blindness as a disability. I mean, he still kills everyone and saves the day, but there are several times when he’s actually hindered or disadvantaged by his vision. Usually, he’s super-abled.

Finally finished the show. Some thoughts: Joe Doering is great. Dude came in as a generic power wrestler, got saddled with the crappiest gimmick (some kind of Uber-gaijin, part Hansen and part Brody), and comes back from a brain tumor (or something?) to be the best North American wrestler AJ has had in years and years. His moves look painful as hell, and his cross body is the bestest. The tag match with Yuji Hino was mostly there to express to fans that they best not mess with Yuji Hino. Kinda unnecessary, since if you look at Yuji Hino, you understand right away that he is not one to mess with. Yuji Hino's tattoo says "Hino," and I wonder if it's there in case he gets amnesia following a concussion Last thing about Hino: his bellybutton is hypnotic How long has Kai been doing death matches? His torso is ugly as hell I think Nakanashi and Nagata joined Hagura IGF, so yeah, if there's a invasion in AJ's future, it's gonna suck. Though I'd still buy Nagata as a main eventer, obviously. Not sure what happens with the CC now. Could make sense to just give Kento the super push and have him win that too, then defend against someone who beat him in the league (like Hino please). However, I could see Akiyama, Suwama, or Marufuji. Also be down for a out-of-left field winner, like Zeus, or just going right back to Joe.

Bodyguard is slightly older and he looks fine so I suggest hitting the gas hard.

Have not watched the ME yet but so far the card has been pretty blah. Was shocked by the result of the tag title match, at least.

I am up to the All Asia tag on the last AJPW card and I gotta say that middle-aged wrestling bodies are a bit of a bummer.

That looks great but 43 pounds is $80 and that’s a bit pricey for a blind buy. Will have to put it on a watch list and hope it comes down in price. option two: YouTube

Oh man, could not disagree more about DEATH OF STALIN. Thought the ads looked bad but went because I like the people involved, and it’s easily one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. Steve Buscemi reminds everyone that he’s a great actor, and Michael Palin hasn’t lost a step.

We need to have a "best dressed wrestler" tournament.

Used AJPW TV to watch the top three matches of last year's big Summer Action Series show: Lee/Nomura vs Big Buns, Joe vs Miyahara, and Suwama vs Ishikawa. Good all around. AJ used to be my favourite, so I follow the results online, but I've rarely taken the time to watch a wrestling match in the last, like, decade. Random thoughts: Man, all the Nextream (sp?) guys are great baby faces, and actually have hilarious baby faces. Lee trying to look tough is adorable. Zeus and Bodyguard are great. Bodyguard might actually be ... awesome? Like, I don't expect any poetry from him, but he's great at being a big, lumbering buffoon. I totally buy him as someone who could pin the TC champ in a singles match and then job to Jake Lee or a junior. They should really consider putting the TC on Zeus this year, if only for a trial run. What surprised me the most is how over Joe was. People were chanting his name and going nuts for his moves. Miyahara had trouble getting them back on board, I thought. The great thing about Suwama having always been a slow-ass wrestler is that age doesn't seem to be slowing him down.

Well, they've ruled out the more serious underlying causes, like pancreatitis, but he does have an elevated white blood cell count, so if that doesn't change we may have to put him on a hypoallergenic diet and see if it helps. From there, we're talking more major diagnostics, which I'm sure will be pricey.

Dogs are expensive, mine keeps vomiting. It’s a regular occurrence. Over his life we’ve moved to special gastronomic food and gotten a prescription for antacids. Still, it keeps recurring, so today I went and got blood work done. $350. Hopefully I get some answers. poor little guy.

Just got the student evaluations from last term at one of the universities I work at. Lowest score I’ve ever had. I try to remind myself that it’s an outlier, and that at the other university I was working at I got great ratings, but it still sucks.

There’s a guy who wrestles locally named Charlie Winston, and they shamelessly bill him as 6’9”. You can grab a pic with the dude at intermission and he’s 6’3 at best. They could have moderated their exaggeration to maximize the suspension of disbelief, is what I’m saying.

That is not a title I’d expect to see a western wrestling promotion use.
